  1. If you've eaten fish and chips, you've likely eaten worms. Disgusting but true. Cod very, very often has worms. Usually they're removed in the kitchen, but not always. Sorry.
  2. I think fitters are doing a better job. Most women wear a band size that is too big, so when the band size goes down the cup size will naturally need to be bigger. I assume that is what you are talking about re vanity sizing?
  3. I don't use any binder at all - there are lots of recipes without binder. Mine hold together without problem.
  4. Neither my sister nor I changed our family name, but my BIL changed his to ours. My brothers' wives have also kept their names.
  5. Mark Bittman has a good recipe for baked falafel. It's just a google away.
  6. I would guess he will just eventually memorize them. DS learned how to visualize higher number multiplication with Mortensen math blocks and that was helpful. BA touches on that in 3B (p 56). If you are not opposed to video games, ReflexMath is fun for memorizing math facts, though addictive for certain personality types (like my DS's!).
  7. This is such a fabulous museum - absolutely worth a field trip, wherever you are. And OP, they do say a fool and his money are soon parted. Here's to hoping it is true. ;)
  8. We just carry on knapsacks that we can then use at our destination, so no single use bags. Works for us, but our travel is usually rough, not fancy, so ymmv.
  9. Another vote for BBC Dance Mat. Fast, effective, and free.
  10. You can look for books by age on the FNAC site or on amazon.fr. At that level my son was a big fan of books by J-P Arrou-Vignod, Daniel Pennac (in addition to Gripari, of course). Gallimard has "Folio Junior" which is specifically from 9 years old, so you might take a look at those titles. Most other publishers will have titles grouped by age as well. Nathan has Contes et Legendes which is easy reading for that age. And a liste from Nathan of books by grade level: http://www.nathan.fr/ressources-pedagogiques-jeunesse/ressources-pedagogiques/selection-ce2.asp?ordre=date_parution You could also search by grade level. This list, for example, came up when I searched for books for CE2.
  11. Kitchen trick: wear gloves to peel them. No more stained hands (also protects a bit from the heat). :) eta you can also just rub the skins off with a towel, but I find this messier unless I've got a ton a ton of beets to peel.
  12. Two syllables before popcorn or apple. Three syllables (Cah -ra-mel) normally.
  13. This fellow? http://www.grahamkerr.com/blog/
  14. I agree and it is very exciting! Hopefully it won't take 25 years though. :)
  15. We travel internationally all the time with a violin with no problems at all and bring it on much shorter trips. I would take the instruments if you want them to continue.
  16. I only believe in marriage for purposes of citizenship and/or health insurance. I wouldn't be married otherwise.
  17. How about you let people ask for help if they think they need it rather than telling them they do when they don't. Aside from sexual crimes (pedophilia, rape for example) I don't think it is anyone's business but the person or people involved. Seriously, what is with the Christian obsession with sex and "sexual sin?"
  18. It seems to me that so many people and religions spend so much time judging and marginalizing and persecuting other people in preparation for "salvation" in some potential next life. Why not just be good and kind in THIS life? No one knows if there is a second act, but we know we are here now. I was speaking generally here. It is not that you are standing by your beliefs so much as that you are putting yourself and your beliefs higher than other people and their beliefs. When one person or group determines that s/he/they are the arbiters and what they think holds more weight than what others believe, aren't they raising themselves to the level of a god? As for here, well, when you are making absolute declarations of what is right and wrong (eg "It is about what God says is right and wrong. Homosexuality is one of the things he does not allow.") as if you uniquely are in the position to know, and when you are doing such things as dismissing other people's religious beliefs as "convenient" then, yeah, you are absolutely judging. And that makes people feel bad. ETA sorry for the format: multiquote was not cooperating
  19. I am finding it informative. And there hasn't been any threat of violence yet. ;)

  21. I made the original comment, Scarlett, BV was just explaining it. And I didn't mean it so much to mock but more to make you realize how hubristic it is, your absolute belief that you know exactly what God has deemed acceptable and not acceptable.
  22. Do you have a direct line, Scarlett?
  23. There is a "delete my vote" thingie, then you can start again. :)
