  1. So if you could purchase only one book would you go with the student manual?

Yes, for Prima, I think you can get away with only the student book.  Having both student and teacher copies was a lot more helpful once we moved onto Latina Christiana.

  2. Yes!  We saved the top tier and wrapped it in a zillion alternating layers of plastic wrap and newspaper as the baker instructed, then stuck it in the deep freeze.  Even with us moving 450 miles 9 months after our wedding, the cake tasted wonderful on our 1st anniversary.

  3. Our Frigidaire dishwasher completely died after only 2 years of use, and for months before that, the dishes came out of it dirtier than they went in.  My parents' Frigidaire still works great after nearly a decade.

  4. All 6 of us had what we think was the flu a few weeks ago.  The kids (ages 4-11) all bounced back very quickly, within a day or so.  My husband and I were both in bed for a full week and took another week or two to get back to 100%.

  5. We're currently using Hake Grammar 5 for 5th grade, and my son and I both like it.  We're doing 3-4 lessons per week in order to complete the book in 1 school year.  I introduce the lesson to him, then turn him loose to do the exercises independently.  There's a good bit of review built in, and so far, his retention seems to be pretty good.  We only do the grammar portion and not the optional writing book that is available.  http://www.hakepublishing.com/

  6. We're 13 lessons into Hake 5 (1st edition), and so far my son and I are both liking it.  I talk him through the instructional part at the beginning of each lesson and then turn him loose to do the exercises on his own.  I really like all of the review that is built in.  We are skipping the writing component (we're finishing up Writing With Ease instead), and I let my son write his answers directly in the book to save time.

  7. My oldest child (age 10) is working his way through All About Spelling 4 right now.  He has done well with the series and I'd love to continue it with him, but in the next year or so I would have children using four different levels of it!  Three is hard enough to juggle right now, and I'm not sure I can handle the demands of a fourth.  I think he would do well with a workbook of some sort that he could do independently, but I have no clue what the appropriate placement would be.  Any suggestions?

  8. Tidy Cats Instant Action has been the best litter that I've found for odor control. We scoop the clumps daily.

We use a mixture of dry and canned food, and I mix the canned food with a little bit of water when I prepare it. Like the previous poster said, I've also read that male cats need plenty of moisture in their diets to reduce the chances of urinary problems. I look for brands that have real meat as the first ingredient and don't contain wheat.
