  1. Just wanted to add a fun suggestion which I haven't seen mentioned yet but that my own dds 5 and 6 enjoyed: Ramona, the Pest.
  2. :iagree:A couple other great books on buddhism or buddhist tales for children are: Buddha by Demi The Wisdom of Crows A couple other fun books about China or Chinese legend are: Ruby's Wish Fa Mulan So many books, so little time....;)
  3. We are doing music appreciation afterschooling with Themes to Remember and supplementing with books/cds from the library for each composer. I am trying to loosely follow the 6 year schedule from the Themes to Remember website, and so far, my kids love it! (kinder and first grade) They are learning the vocabulary (a lot of which they knew from "Little Einsteins, anyway) and they love the songs and lyrics. They will both start piano next year, as well. They are both in ballet, so I kind of consider that to be part music/part art appreciation. For other art, we read various children's books about artists, such as Degas and the Little Dancer, Katie and the Mona Lisa, etc. I thinking about using Usborne Art Treasury next summer, or their Introduction to Art. They also enjoy drawing books. We are Buddhist, so we also read children's stories like I Once Was a Monkey, etc. We try to incorporate a lot these extra topics into reading material, so it doesn't seem overwhelming. HTH.
  4. I can't give you a review on it yet, but I will be starting Escucha y Hablemos with my dds 5 and 7 in the next couple weeks. I wanted a program they could do together, and dd5's reading and writing skills aren't at a level yet where I feel comfortable introducing a reading or writing component to their foreign language studies. However, I still want them to start developing an ear for the language. This program seems to be a good fit for us, as it is geared mostly toward listening and speaking. We will probably explore one of the other programs mentioned in this thread after a year or two.
  5. If one shouldn't order Ecoutez, Parlez from Rainbow Resource, where should one order it from? TIA!
