  1. For whatever reason, I can't get into Goodreads. When I bother recording the books I've read (and the notes from said books), I use Workflowy. One of my goals for the new year is to do a better job tracking the books I read.
  2. No, I do not want a funeral or ceremony of any kind. If people want to take it upon themselves to gather together and tell stories, that's up to them. But it won't be planned or organized by myself or dh. He's of the same mindset.
  3. Our is going up $150/mo. Dental increased by just a couple dollars. I'd have to check into percentages.
  4. For those of you looking for an alternative to Scrivener, have you looked at StoryShop? I don't have an interest in writing fiction but I've played around with it some and I think it would be a great tool for those who do write fiction.
  5. Love the bolded! I'm going to have to write that down.
  6. Love Organize 365! I'm pretty organized but Lisa is so upbeat and enthusiastic I could listen to her all day :)
  7. Regularly listen to- The Creative Penn Sell More Books Show Organize 365 The Thomas Jefferson Hour Just started listening to & think they'll become regulars- Ben Franklin's World The History of Rome Sometimes listen to- Self Publishing Podcast Brilliant Business Moms Smart Passive Income Entrepreneur on Fire Sawbones The James Altucher Show
  8. I second Squarespace. It's very intuitive if you don't have coding experience; everything is drag and drop. It also very easy to customize so that you stand out. They also have great customer support!
  9. If you are looking for some inspiration, Joanna Penn, who writes fiction under the name J.F. Penn, has a podcast called The Creative Penn. It is my favorite podcast and I don't even really want to write a fiction book. She is very inspirational, yet practical. She interviews all kinds of people in the writing community about all kinds of topics that pertain to writing books. She is an indie-published author so some of the topics may not be directly applicable if you want a traditional publishing book deal but Joanna is very knowledgable, highly respected, she knows what she is doing. Her website for writers is The Creative Penn.
  10. I fear that I sometimes romanticize the way the players must feel about football but after reading your descriptions I don't think I'm too far off :D
  11. Nothing in his opinion would make it safe. It's just not possible to keep the brain from bouncing around inside the skull with each hit a player sustains. Here's an article that sums up his views pretty clearly.
  12. This is how I feel about the game and I understand why players are so passionate about it. If anyone is interested, the doctor who discovered CTE wrote an excellent book that came out in August. I highly recommend it.
  13. Do you know if this woman was employed through an agency? If you don't have any luck speaking directly with her, maybe her employer help her see things differently. Or what about the man's children? Any of them in the area to speak with the caregiver about the dog?
  14. I was raised in a conservative Baptist/Methodist family where we attended a Baptist church. Now I describe my beliefs as saying I'm pro-God but anti-organized religion.
  15. I love my Day Designer but it is pricey. However, Blue Sky has a collaboration with Day Designer that is available at Target. Those planners are cheaper and really pretty while still being functional. I think I might switch to that line this year rather than continuing with the "original" Day Designer.
  16. Mine does. When we first got together (19 years ago), I'd never cooked a whole turkey or even a chicken before. So that first Thanksgiving he made dinner for me and my parents and he's been cooking Thanksgiving dinner ever since. (If it was up to me, I probably wouldn't even bother-it's just the four of us now, since we moved to the opposite coast from our families-and I really don't like to cook.)
  17. We use Droid TV in addition to Netflix and Amazon Prime.
  18. I am so sorry! You and your family will be in my prayers.
  19. I know the OP has already made her decision but I thought I'd add my 2 cents for anyone else looking for reviews. :iagree: It was a *very* time-consuming curriculum choice and I could not make it work either. That said, I do like their 5-a-day review approach, but you would not need to buy the whole curriculum to implement that part.
  20. Dh has been having trouble the past few months with his hearing (he's 46). The family practitioner can find no cause for it so he has a referral to an ENT but he hasn't yet made the appt. I suspect he'll wait until it begins to interfere with his work, *then* maybe he'll call :glare: In the meantime, the kids and I just keep repeating ourselves, or speak only when we are looking right at him, etc.
  21. I recently discovered Planner pads. I love the fact that I can do a brain dump on the top and that I can fill in column headers that fit *me* (homeschool, home, work, personal, reading, finances, etc). It's not pretty, it's not fancy, but that can be fixed with washi tape and colored pens if one desires :) And you have the option to have your planner start in Jan, April, July, or Oct. They offer a 6 month money-back guarantee if you aren't happy with the planner. I got the personal size and it fits in my purse. I really love this planner and I would swear it really has made me more efficient! It doesn't have a whole lot of room for appts at the bottom...I don't know if that would be an issue for you.
