  1. We've been using Elemental Science Logic Stage (did the Biology one this year). My kids have liked it so much, I went ahead and bought the rest of them. They're super excited about the experiments every week...and I feel like they've learned a lot more than I did at their ages. https://elementalscience.com/collections/middle-school-science
  2. So...I feel like I've perused through every single post that has already been done on Latin, but I've still got some questions. First off...background... I'm looking for something for my oldest two children. They're currently 9 and 10 and will be doing 6th Grade materials next fall. They've already gone through Prima Latina and Latina Christiana I [we did these in 3rd and 4th Grade...we did French this year (5th Grade) and are planning to return back to Latin for next year...will do French again in 7th Grade...and Latin again in 8th and then through high school]. I did their Latin with them for the first 2 years...which is the full extent of my Latin knowledge...so that's also a factor somewhat (whether we can all learn it together or not). I do not particularly love Memoria Press things (we're not religious at all; in fact, I changed the saying/songs in LC-I to better fit us: we memorized the words to "O Fortuna" and did sayings from famous philosophers instead of prayers) and my children find the repetition of these programs incredibly boring, so I'm not sure about moving on to First Form Latin (unless it's drastically different) and would probably prefer to move to something else. As for other programs, I've really liked the looks of both The Big Book of Lively Latin and Latin Alive, but I have concerns about both... For BBoLL- Will Book 1 be too easy for them? Should we start with Book 2? Is this really not the best choice for them and their ages anyway (most things say these are for younger children)? I did also look into Latin For Children (which I thought looked okay...but out of it and The Big Book of Lively Latin, I liked the look of BBoLL better). For Latin Alive- Is it likely that this would be too difficult for them? I know I've read that each Latin Alive = 1 year of high school credit...so that worries me a bit. I would like them to eventually have High School level Latin credits though...and I do like the overall look of this program a lot. I like that both of these choices have DVDs/videos available. I like that they both have some translating from sentences and history information. I am open to other suggestions (though would have the same concerns about them) and am just trying to figure out which might be the best fit for us. Please help me decide. Thanks.
