  1. Trailer. Motorhomes aren't as safe. You may still be the biggest in an accident but you're also traveling in the same compartment with a lot of projectiles. And only the front captains chairs are equipped with proper seatbelts.
  2. Instead of going to bed I'm trying to keep myself awake while nursing DD. She's outgrown her Zantac dose so we're back to the nurse, spit up, scream, nurse, spit up, scream...cycle. But now I'm going to have to see if we have any tortillas after I get her to sleep! :D
  3. I had to wear one for several weeks after my shoulder surgery. Honestly I had to have DH help me. :blushing: But I wasn't allowed to move it at all for 6-7 weeks. I don't think he helped me that whole time but definitely at first.
  4. I am for sure. I don't even like the junk stuff for a young child. It's just a waste of money. DD got a set like that for her 3rd birthday. Each item inside was tried once and thereafter completely ignored. When she's older and can keep from breaking the crayons and pencils and leaving the caps off markers, I'll get the good stuff. But I won't go below crayola even now. She's 4.
  5. I only put sunscreen on her if we're going to be out for a long time in the middle of the day. So swimming, the zoo, camping... Just out and about or a half hour trip to the park I don't put it on her. The last two weeks she had swim lessons from 11:00-11:35 and I did not put it on her. Longer classes I would have.
  6. By that definition, 3. I normally say we started at 2.5 because that's when I started setting up her "school shelves" with Montessori-type activities and being more deliberate about teaching her stuff, though all still very play-based. By 3-3.5, she was asking for school time, asking to be taught to read, and being very involved with what we did during school time. If you go by a *formal* schooling definition, it probably won't be until 6-7. I prefer an unschooling approach before then. Since DD loves it so much and is asking for more and more, I have a lot more lined up for this year. I just still won't be forcing any of it. It will be up to her when and what we do for at least another year or two.
  7. I honestly don't know if our new church focuses on it much because we haven't gone consistently enough. The church I grew up in put so much attention on it that it really turned me off. And my uncle is the pastor! Several times a year the sermon was on tithing. One year they even turned the Christmas Eve candlelight service into a "give more money" sermon and skipped the candles. :/ they spent years consumed with the new building project. I held out hoping it would ease up after they finally got the new building up. It didn't. We left. It *was* an AoG church but somewhere along the line they became independent because my uncle got divorced and remarried and the church board voted to keep him. I guess that's against AoG policy.
  8. He's 100% on board. He wasn't when I first brought up that I wanted to do it, but that was before we were even expecting. It took about a year of working on him but by the time we had DD he was for it. We're only to preschool and he's now just as for it as I am.
  9. With my first I'd have said pregnancy was worse. This time around, equal. I have horrible pregnancys and spend the whole time sick and miserable. Pregnancy was far worse than my first two weeks home with baby. But then the following three weeks when baby got colic and reflux... That was comparable. Now going into week six meds are helping her some and it's been a little better.
  10. I don't say it the same way I say interest, even though I know that's what it stands for. I say in-ter-est and pin-trist. I've said pin-ter-est before, but usually I say it the two syllable way
  11. We recently got Piano Party A for DD4. We've only done one lesson so far but she loves it!
  12. Currently on the wish list to be ordered next week: Inchimals Singapore EB Abacus (the kind they use with RS Math) Geoboard Geoboard Pictures 3 critical thinking co books A few Kumon workbooks Do a dot coloring books
  13. Thirsties covers are my favorite with prefolds. I prefer All-in-ones, though. I like the kinds that have the soaker only sewn in on one side so they wash up better and dry faster. My current favorites are grovias and swaddlebees simplex. They're definitely a more expensive route than prefolds and covers though. Pockets are good for overnight because you can double stuff them easily to adjust absorbency. I wash in purex free and clear. I use a dry pail, cold rinse, hot wash with detergent, then hot or cold rinse with a little vinegar. Hot dry or hang. I have a couple wetbags for out of the house. My newborn stash with my first was 36 prefolds and 7 or so covers. Toddler age I did pockets, I think I had about 24. This baby, I still have all my prefolds but only 2 covers (1 flip, 1 I made), 5 pockets and inserts (3 are bum genius, 2 I made) 7 or 8 grovias, and I think 3 simplex. I have a few more covers that just don't fit yet. I also have 24 toddler size prefolds and about 18 dream-eze (AIO). I have all our pockets from DD1 still but they were bought used and have seen too many bums. I have no idea how many wipes I have because I like making them :)
  14. DD was 3 when the doc ordered her to start taking it daily for at leat a year. She was on a capful/adult dose for the first week then 1/2 a dose daily since then. It's been a year and she just saw her ped last week and she said we can try weaning her off and see how she does so I'm dropping her dose by just a little each week. But she also said its fine to leave her on it so at the first sign she's not ready I'll stop the weaning until we see the ped again.
  15. I discovered food dye made a difference in DD's behavior just by eliminating and seeing what happened. She's a very spirited child. When she has dye, that high energy level and the "more" comes out in all the negative ways.
  16. For me, the ones I made green. I don't like roseart crayons, so not worth it as crayons unless I wanted to use them for a project of some sort. The paper is a good deal, but I'm horrible about following through on rebates.
  17. Interesting. I knew milk could cause constipation issues, but I had no idea it could contribute to behavior. DD is a dairy fiend. And we've been having a lot of behavior issues lately. We also suspect SPD and/or OCD. I wonder if we'd be able to see a difference just by seriously limiting milk but not all dairy if she is reacting to it? Or if we'd have to fully eliminate milk or even everything? She also has allergies and eczema.
  18. I think sonic food is nasty, so we never eat there. The only thing I like is their cherry limeades, so I just use the drive-thru when I want one. Were I to eat there, though, no, I don't think I would have considered tipping. It's fast food, it's supposed to be fast and cheap. They don't provide the full services of a normal waiter/waitress. And as for just bringing you your food, so does Carl's Jr. And they will go back and get other things for you and check on you if they come by later. Delivering the food is just giving you what you've paid for, not a tip-worthy service. If they aren't making enough without tips, then that's an issue with the employer.

  20. The only difference is the Diono branded ones can go into booster mode. Otherwise it's the same seats. (and different cover options) Diono R100 = SK 65SL + booster Diono R120 = SK 80SL + booster Diono RXT = SK XTSL + booster
  21. I don't think there's any one place you can for sure find them, but they do pop up here and there. Have you used a SK radian before and know you like them? What is it about the Diono ones you don't like compared to the SK models? They're really the same seat other than that Diono's can also become a booster. Which model Diono did you get?
  22. We just had DD's 4th birthday party today! There were 7 kids around her age, 3 older kids (family or sib of a little). Total person count was about 30. We invited immediate family and kids DD knew. This was the first year we did it quite this way. For her 1st-3rd parties, it was more for us, honestly. We invited everyone *we* wanted to see and have see her which was mostly immediate family and our friends. Some had kids, some didn't. Of course DD was the focus, but she didn't exactly have friends at a year old to invite. This year was definitely more for her, so I invited the families of the friends she wanted to come. Some of our friends that have come in the past were not invited because they don't have kids her age, or even if they did, we don't see them often and DD doesn't really "know" their kids. The only people who came that didn't have kids her age were our parents, sibs, and my s-dad's parents. And honestly, next year I don't think her main party will even have that much extension to non-her-age attendants. It went well today, but all of the adults there without kids (10) just sat around the edge of things while we did planned activities with the littles. And the 3 bigger kids participated in the activities, but they were definitely too old for them. Not that I didn't enjoy having them all there, but 13 less bodies would have made things a lot less crowded, loud, and just busy. Next year I think we'll just have a family get together to celebrate, sing, and open presents with immediate fam. Her actual party (if we have one) will be for her and her friends, probably with a parent or two per kid still staying for another year or two. I can see having my mom still come to help with the party, but not a whole bunch of adults that will just sit around watching. Oh and I think 8 or so kids sounds like a good limit.
  23. *I* do this. If I'm alone, the only time I don't have one going is if what I'm doing involves reading of any kind (besides the obvious books, also forums, email, recipes...). Although often if it's directions of some sort, I'll still be listening to an audiobook and just pause it as necessary to read whatever I need to. I just now got on the computer after spending about an hour sewing and preparing some things for DD's birthday party and I was listening to an audiobook the whole time. I always have one going when I'm cooking or cleaning, even if DD is "helping" me. For *me*, it's because I need something to focus on. I'm ADD, and if I can't focus, I can't get anything accomplished. If I try to JUST cook or clean or sew or do a puzzle or..... I have a hard time staying focused because those things don't engage enough of my mind. If I listen to a story, that engages my mind so I can stay with whatever else it is I'm doing. The opposite is also true for me. I can't only engage my mind without engaging physically. I cannot listen to the sermon at church without doodling. I can sit there without doodling if I must, but I will not take in a word of it. So, all that to say, I don't think there's a such thing as too much time with audiobooks. But I may not be the right person to judge ;)
  24. They're starting to with some of them. The no backs often have them in already, but not usually the high backs. You're not alone. We see a lot more without screws than with.
  25. Just a helpful link if ever you need car seat stats: http://www.car-seat.org/forumdisplay.php?f=61 And specifically to the TB: http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=150985 Don't forget to put in the screws!
