  1. I would suggest video text geometry for you. They have an online version. According to the publisher- The first 4 units are a basic geometry course, units 5 and 6 would make an honors class.
  2. I am a pastors wife, and SOTW has always been my kiddos favorite history to do!! I love it. Don't let the critical reviews keep you from this wonderful series.
  3. Loosing friends is so hard, I'm so sorry. I have been there this year as well. Such a gut punch. Please don't blame yourself. A true friend would try to resolve like you did.
  4. I just read a verse a day from my Bible app to the kiddos. Then we talk about the verse. It is amazing what we learn together and the discussions we have from it. It is so simple, yet it is something I can be consistent on. I have kids from 6-14 and it works wonderfully. Then one of the kids or I will pray.
  5. I used to buy year around, looking for deals on used curriculum. I don't do that anymore, but order all my stuff in August and another round in December if needed. I'm not so much a curriculum junkie like I used to be at all.
  6. Ugh, I'm with you being in a funk. I do shower every day, but in the morningish afternoonish..whenever I get to it really. Makeup is only for when I go out, if that. I wear the same few items of clothing. I love to drink my coffee on the couch in the morning, teach my kiddos with coffee breath and greasy bangs, and a warm blanket covering me. Lol
  7. Do you find it on the easier side or harder? My daughter isn't the strongest in math and would love to know if this course is gentle and thoroughly taught. I plan on using the video text geometry next year for my oldest. It looks great, by what I can see through the samples.
  8. I let my son stay up a bit later. I let him read , and also sometimes I let him watch a show or two in bed. I give him melatonin and nighttime essential oils. This combination makes for a very happy son and mother. 💕
  9. That's about right. My son usually takes about 3-5 hours, depending on his mood for the day ;) That time does not count his art lessons, band or sports.
  10. I am thinking about using Saxon geometry next year for my daughter. She used BJU algebra 1 this year. I am looking to back away from BJU and was thinking Saxon would be a good place to go. Any thoughts on the course? I would use the teaching CDs to go with them, because I never took geometry in high school. Any pros or cons would be appreciated!!
  11. My oldest two are going to camp, and a conference for teens. My daughter is taking horse back riding lessons, my boys aren't doing anything special. We will visit some relatives, swim, maybe go camping as a family.
  12. My daughter took BJU press online prealgebra last year. BJU math is mastery in its method. It also reviews as well at the end of each chapter , so it works really well for some of my kids.
  13. $68,147 in my area. We do not make that much.
  14. I am using BJU for my 5th grader. It was perfect for him. I also tried to use it for my high schooler this year. It was a total bomb for her and I dropped it, and lost that $1, 000 I paid for it. It's okay though because it's not a perfect fit for everyone. You win some, and you lose some.
  15. Changing this up a bit Math - teaching textbooks 6 History- Bookshark level 5 Language arts - advanced language lessons Writing- writing with skill level 1 Science - Bookshark level 5 Literature- Bookshark level 5 Art - weekly outsourced lessons PE - soccer and football Keyboarding class
  16. I think they are not as popular as the last five years, it they will still be in stores for the next few, I'm sure. I live in either my comfy jeans or maxi skirts, so I'm counting on it.
  17. I would get some stem kits, literature books( if they let you keep them) , quality art supplies, and some audio books. You could always buy next years curriculum with the money, if they let you.
  18. My fifth grader is not logic stage right now, but I can see him gradually getting that way by sixth grade.
  19. My daughter is home educated under a charter school here in CA. They give half a credit ( one semester) worth for drivers ed. The student must complete a driver's ed course, have six hours of drivers training with an instructor, and tons of behind the wheel practice with an adult. It takes about six months and by then they can take their drivers test.
  20. I would think FLL and a phonics book/program would be plenty for language arts. Add in math and your good to go. If you feel the need to do history and science, you could always listen to the SOTW 1 CDs, and read some science books together from the library.
  21. I schedule my ninth grader , but with the younger ones, we just plug away.
  22. What about Art Reed with Saxon? I plan on using his algebra 1/2 and algebra 2 next year with my girls next year. I have seen sample of the dive and teaching CDs and don't like them. I am really drawn in by art reeds teaching CDs. It's a reall teacher instead of just a white board. I am also fond of math u see and his CDs, so maybe I just like a real person on the other end teaching. :)
  23. Acellus is supposed to be having an AP environmental science course coming shortly. I'm not really sure, but I am hoping by September.
