I am wanting to create a fun literature course for my teen girls for this next year. It would include reading the book, watching the related movie, and then doing a report and maybe a project. Is there a list already out there that I could use to help me with this? I am not wanting a historical course, which may be fun later on. I am wanting a fiction fun course. Some ideas I have are The Giver, LOTR, Hunger games, and such. I want some really well written literature, that has a decent movie to go with it (pg13 and down) Any help or links to lists would be awesome. Thanks!!

My kids have only seen me cry hard once. Other than that, I just get watery eyes at times. I don't really cry, ever.

Peaceful Isle replied to Runningmom80's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I need to purchase math u see geometry , essentials in literature/writing 10 combo, and acellus for art , music, and world history. That's for my tenth grader. I also need to purchase bookshark lit 8 for my 8th grader. My 6th grader needs teaching textbooks still, as well as Grammar for the Well Trained Mind. My 1st grader is all set. I have to set up outsourced classes , lessons, and sports starting in September. It is making my head spin. -

Peaceful Isle replied to Runningmom80's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I wish. I have to buy it all this year. I have already gotten my 1st grade curriculum, and science and history for my 11 and 13 year olds. I still need to purchase math and language arts for them. I literally have nothing for my tenth grader yet. -

Pretty much textbook symptoms. Also, a lot of joint pain. -
12 is the stopping age around here. Then they tend to go towards theirs hobbies and interested. My eleven year old is already phaseing out of playing and will only pretend play with his six year old brother once in a while. My teen girls love to craft, draw, play their musical instruments, watch movies... They also have outside activitities they like.

choosing between outside activities/sports
Peaceful Isle replied to caedmyn's topic in General Education Discussion Board
My kids each have 2-3 activities each. All three oldest have band on Monday's and all four have art class on thursdays. My two boys have sports in the evenings as well, and my daughter is into horses for lessons and volunteering. I think the key is scheduling. We always have wednesdays off with daddy. No questions. Saturday is a cleaning day/ youth activity day/ having a family over for dinner or whatever. Sundays is always church and relaxing. -
What do you budget for a year?
Peaceful Isle replied to Kjirstyn's topic in General Education Discussion Board
My budget personally depends on each child. I think on average , I spend 500 on curriculum for each kid, plus 300 each for music lessons. This comes out of my own pocket because I choose Christian curriculum. Now I also get a stipen to spend because we homeschool through a charter. If we didn't, the above amount would be it. That amount is over 2 grand a year, for each one. This money I spend on art lessons, swimming lessons, monthly kits and other items. -

I am looking for a woman's Bible daily devotional. I'm wanting something simple to read each day, verses, a devotional paragraph, prayer , etc. I would love to find it on Amazon. I am wanting it to point towards Calvinistic view and and not Arminianism . The Bible version doesn't matter as much. I use ESV right now so that would be my first pick. Thanks for any help!
