  1. Also, my PP planner and notebook are here and they are glorious!
  2. Update: You can drag and drop to Trello from YouTube, TedEd and Epic! There are probably more but that's what I've figured out so far.
  3. My dd has been sick twice this summer, non-covid. we've been social distancing since March. Humans aren't the only vectors for germs.
  4. I am 100% there with you. I did that with my FB page a while ago. I've tried to get rid of it but like you I have too many groups that I do benefit from to completely leave. I unfriended a lot of people and they got mad at me, but oh well. I also think life is exhausting right now. I was just telling my friend that will all of us home 24/7 there is so much more to clean. My 10 year olds need even more from me right now because life is difficult for them too. I'm cooking constantly with a 13 year old in the house. Add in the info overload and the exhaustion caused by both decision fatigue and the underlying hypervigilance we are all forced to live with, it's no wonder. I don't have any advice, just commiseration. 😴
  5. Dollar shave club! Great razors and pretty cheap. I also like Billie (both are subscriptions) I was just thinking About this the other day because my DD just turned 10. I don’t think I started until 7th grade, and even then I had to sneak. My mom didn’t want to have to buy me razors so she made me wait as long as possible. 🤣
  6. Oldest did history of Us too! I liked that series a lot. Youngest just need to get away from US history because they did two years of it in PS
  7. I love 16 personalities! I need to go back and really dig into his. Not that I believe that MB is the end all be all of getting to know a person, but there are definitely things that jump out as true and helpful.
  8. he is INTJ! (He was on the border between P&J but when we all read both of them he was for sure J) ETA: thank you for the book recs!
  9. sure! He’s super into retro video games, rebuilding old computers and music production. He mostly listens to Hip hop (this is a struggle but we have him freedom of music when he turned 13. He truly does listen for the beats. He likes to sample old songs or pull them apart and rearrange/reimagine them.)
  10. Not specifically. He's not DYS PG, as he missed their cut off by 2-3 points both times his IQ was tested. He qualified for CTY with his SAT score in the fall and we were looking into their summer programs before covid times.
  11. His ped did a Myers briggs with him and he is at the very far end of the introvert spectrum.
  12. this is how my son is! He’s into very specific things and talks AT us about them. He doesn’t really want anything to do with anyone who isn’t into his exact interests. He did have a friend at swim team, a sweet girl who was a little quirky herself, but he wasn’t into hanging out outside of practice or meets. 😞
  13. this is a good point and the way my kids are it wouldn’t surprise me if this happened. i think he will be employable and “functioning” Overall, but I’m not sure about his social-emotional health. Maybe he is just fine being by himself, I just want to make sure I’m not overlooking something. My ds has anxiety too and that is a beast in and of itself.
  14. Yeah I probably gave way too much information in order to get book recs. I guess I was trying to narrow down what exactly I needed to get out of the books! This is the advice my own therapist gave me which also led to me not seeking it out. But I will say this was a few years ago, before puberty and before there were things that he's just not outgrowing. KWIM? This is good! Yes stuff like this, but he is pretty self aware. He says he knows he's awkward. He will even say "I didn't mean that I just wanted to make you mad, but it made me feel worse." I mean, my husband doesn't have that self awareness. 🤣 It's not the first time I learned an overdue lesson from television! NVLD, I'm not that clear on, I do think DS is more ASD. I used to say "he makes eye contact and isn't shy so he can't be ASD," but I understand better now that isn't at all true. Thanks for the recs, off to study!
  15. Oh yeah there’s definitely data entry. It’s not like homeschool planet or panda or whatever it’s called where you can choose a curriculum from a data base. i don’t get as detailed as her, I don’t see the need. Some people even add their curriculum to trello broken up into cards. That’s not the life I want to live 😆 ETA: For pins, I just right click to save the pic and then upload it as the cover. Then just put the link to the actual website (not the pin) in the card. No typing. It can be tedious. I find it to get to a mindless/meditative sort of spot and it's a nice escape when it's not late enough for a glass of wine. (Although last night I entered all of DS HSA classes WHILE drinking a glass of wine. It was Saturday night and I was really letting loose)
  16. I have Stamped! We are going to start the year with that. The author Jason Reynolds was recently on the podcast On Being, I highly recommend it! Love the Smithsonian books and I have some Kingfisher too. I have so many books I could use as spines, I think I just got confused as to where to go from there. I need to get to planning on my Trello boards and just start collecting resources. We dabbled in SOTW. I went through them with my oldest and didn't really want to read them again. My twins didn't love the audio so then I dropped it and they went to school. Thanks for the help and motivation!
  17. These studies all sound amazing! We have lots of "spine" books, so this will work really well for us. I think that will help me stay focused. When I've tried to put together units in the past I've gotten overwhelmed with the amount of books I wanted to use. Unfortunately real world stuff may be difficult this year, but in general that is how I love to homeschool. Thank you for the inspiration!
