  1. I have several pairs of pants from Everlane that have large front pockets.
  2. One of my sons was accepted into Colorado School of Mines
  3. Not necessarily. I guess it depends how it's actually implemented. When my youngest ds was in upper elementary school that's what his grading rubrics looked like for many assignments. Not math though.
  4. No, it wouldn't bother me at all. If my son enjoyed the activities and enjoyed the friend's company I'd want him to go and have fun. My son is that age and he's very social and prefers doing things with a friend or two.
  5. Both of my boys applied to a public out of state college that has a high admit rate...after reading this thread I looked into their merit scholarships more closely, and the larger ones (which they would qualify for) require keeping a 3.6 gpa! And they are both going into engineering. So I'm guessing we'll end up moving this college down on our list as far as balancing desire to attend/finances/fit etc.
  6. I just ordered 3 pairs from Zenni. I really hope I like them. Because it's really hard to choose frames online even with all of the features that help. I have 2 pairs that I ordered from them a few years ago and one of them is great, the other pair feels uncomfortable. The lenses are good for my prescription though.
  7. Zenni optical 20% off code friyay Boden 30% off cy8h Grana 20% off
  8. Uniqlo has warm, soft pants for boys. Joggers/sweatpants. $15-$20 so not too expensive.
  9. Oh, wow, I'm glad your eye is ok and it's out now. I've had a similar thing when my contact lens folds over (I think) and just goes up into my eye somewhere where I can't see it or get it out. It's only happened twice but it's so uncomfortable and not being able to find it is scary. Have to ask-what brand were you wearing that they tore in half?!? Just another reason I don't think people should wear contacts for 'fun'.
  10. My kids love this- melt 1 cup chocolate chips in microwave stir in 2 cups total-- broken pretzel sticks, nuts (I use peanuts and/or walnuts) put spoonfuls on parchment lined cooking sheet and let cool , refrigerate if needed I make variations by adding caramel bits or pecans
  11. About $600/month-- 3 kids, lessons for 4 instruments and one plays basketball year round That doesn't include all the extras like buying strings, music etc
  12. My kids like this served cold, but I put in a jar and shake- 1 part strong coffee 4 parts whole milk about 2 tsp caramel sauce 1 tsp sugar
  13. Does your area have Nextdoor? On our Next-door site I see people (with kids in public school) asking for tutors a lot...usually grade 3-8 for math and reading. We have quite a few businesses that cater to this but I'm assuming some people want something less expensive.
  14. I'm glad you're recovering! And glad you have insurance.
  15. This is on the site about the jobs-- (not the participating colleges) 1. Where will the jobs be located? Jobs will be located throughout the United States. However, the overwhelming majority will be in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Therefore, participants will be required to be available for placement nationwide.
  16. Yeah-it looks like the salary for DC area is about 44k with a BS. Interesting program though.
  17. I agree with this. Unless the person using the rewards specifically chose this hotel and the other person had preferred to stay at a less expensive hotel.
  18. We're still applying here but it's going to be a lot, with 2 kids starting college next year. I was surprised/a little annoyed that one college asked for a housing application fee to 'get in line' for housing. It's non-refundable and I think it's wrong to ask for that when the student doesn't know if they've been admitted.
  19. So both of my dss were selected for verification. (They had the asterisk on their SAR EFC) They've applied to a few schools already, and so far one ds needs to verify at 2 schools. My question that I can't find the answer to is--does this mean they will both have to go through verification at every school they apply to? And I used the DRT tool when I filled out the parent part of FAFSA. One school wants the IRS tax transcript---I'm curious, wouldn't they already have that information from me using the DRT?
  20. What an interesting job! You sound like you're very patient. :grouphug:
  21. One of my son's top pick for a college is RIT, because it has 2 semesters and a summer of co-op. So it's 5 years to finish. It's an expensive school though, so he may not be able to go there. I'll check his other college choices to see which have co-ops. Thanks everyone for the input.
