  1. Finally got my labs back today. TSH went from 2.2 in September to 2.3, Free T3 is now 3.8, Free T4 is .9. My NP messaged that labs are in normal range. I have an appointment with her tomorrow to discuss what to do. I am still losing a lot of hair and now my skin and scalp are itchy. Feeling tired and not really much energy compared to 6 months ago. Just wondering if this medication is not the best for me.
  2. I have hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's). I high TSH means that you may need a higher dose of medication. TSH should be between 1-2 from what I understand. In 15 months mine has gone from 1.7, 2.2 and I will be tested again next week. I think it has gone up again based upon how I am feeling.
  3. Is anyone currently on Armour Thyroid? I have been on it for 15 months and immediately developed anxiety. My TSH, although stable keeps slowly creeping up. I have heard they have reformulated in the last 2 years and some people can't tolerate it as well. I would like to hear both positive and negatives about it.
  4. We encountered some trouble in Horizons 3 as well. We were about on Lesson 37 this fall and my daughter did not understand the whole variable concept although she could solve the problem in her head. We used Horizons K, 1, 2 and loved it until grade 3. I finally gave up and switched to another curriculum and she is doing very well. Perhaps some children just don't understand the algebraic concept until later. My daughter is 9 and in 3rd grade and learns concepts very quickly but this totally frustrated her to tears.
  5. We use EveryDollar. I think budgeting is difficult. Seems like there is always something coming up that we haven't budgeted for. The way we look at it is at least we have a budget amount for most categories and are making progress even though it isn't perfect. It is eye-opening to see how expensive it is to live and to see where our money goes each month. We have always use the cash envelope system for what we can and when the money is gone- it's gone. I will say that I get some strange looks when paying cash for groceries all the time or when I get asked to open up a credit card for various clothing stores and say "no, I will pay with cash".
  6. I would like to introduce Spanish to my daughter this fall. She will be in 3rd grade. Can you give me some suggestions?
  7. I feel sorry for the people that live on the island. How frightening. We are supposed to go to Kona in early August. We haven't purchased airline tickets yet because we were waiting to see what will happen with the volcano. So is the smoke traveling west to Kona side?
  8. I don't have everything planned out but here is what we have so far: Language Arts: WWE3, Wordly Wise 3000, FLL3, Spelling Workout D, A Reason for Handwriting D Science; Apologia Math: undecided but most likely Saxon or CLE, continue LOF Honey, Ice Cream, Jelly Beans Piano: finish Piano Adventures 3B and begin 4. I am a piano teacher so she gets lots of help with this and loves it. History: Draw and Write through History, biographies, DVD from library, Draw Africa, not sure about the rest yet Children's choir and plays at our church Reading: she is a solid reader so she will read several chapter books PE: riding bike, roller skating, swimming, play with friends, am also trying to find a local PE class for homeschoolers
  9. Thank you all so much for your input. I think we will choose a different curriculum. She loves the stories in MLFLE so I really wanted to use it but maybe she can just work through a level during the summer.
  10. Has anyone used this math curriculum for the school year and felt like it was enough math? My daughter just completed 2nd grade homeschool. We used Horizons math K, 1, 2 and are wanting to try something different next year.
