  1. Would you be comfortable showing your 7 year old son a diagram like the one linked below? It's the top left diagram on the female chart, in particular, that DH and I are discussing. This came up because, in the context of a discussion about bladders and how urine exits the body, DS7 became curious about exactly what it looks like on females. The books we have readily available to them are similar to "It's Not the Stork". They do show what's there, but it's not very life-like. Others show detailed internal pics, but not external. So he asked to see more detail. https://www.amazon.com/Female-Reproductive-System-Anatomical-Charts/dp/B07VGQ2KM4/ref=sr_1_58_sspa?crid=ZO8SWB43ELI8&dchild=1&keywords=female+anatomy+model&qid=1590538261&sprefix=model+of+female%2Caps%2C256&sr=8-58-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExWlYwWUcwU1BEUlZNJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwODM0OTE5MVhMNjgwSU9ZUzhJMyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwODUxMjM4MkpUT1UzQ1pXREYwOSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2J0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
  2. Yes, there are infant seats that have bases (you can get multiple for multiple vehicles) and snap in and out. If I had it to do over, I'd skip the infant seat and just wrap instead, though. The infant seat is so heavy and unweildy (at least for me, back and neck issues) and doesn't last that long anyway. I had the seat linked above (the version of it available 6 years ago) and it was a very good seat and value.
  3. Definitely worth it. I would replace mine with no hesitation if it died.
  4. I . . . . . . don't like Nutella. 🙊 And I'm intrigued by the toilet light.
  5. Here is a nice article about it. I find her reviews to be helpful. http://kateshomeschoolmath.com/dimensions-math-review/
  6. It has worked really well for us. I just lay them on top of whatever mulch I'm using and leave it there. Very easy. Even better if you already have the supplies. 😊
  7. For long straight runs, I like to use pvc pipe with holes drilled into it (cap on one end, hose adapter on the other). It's been a while since I've had raised beds, so I don't have any now, but we had huge gardens as I was growing up and used it then too. Super easy and works well. It used to be inexpensive; I haven't priced pvc recently though.
  8. There aren't any academic type classes available here, but most of the extracurriculars work this way: We pay a set monthly fee. Classes run according to the public school schedule (so classes are cancelled due to snow/weather if school is cancelled.) There is no refund for cancellations or for kids missing classes due to other issues. Kids can attend any same-level class to make up one missed, and around the holidays there is often an extra class available for makeup. I like having the make-up option, although in practice we rarely use it.
  9. Something with the word "rack" instead of shelf?
  10. When out and I have privacy, I prefer to squat. But I got one of these several years ago for use in a specific place, and it didn't work for me at all. I just could. not. go. standing up. I mean, I would really, really need to go and then absolutely couldn't do it. Obviously, there would have come a point where I wouldn't have been able to stop it. But as for trying to use it when I felt a normal urge to go, I couldn't. It was just like the habit of sitting or squatting was so ingrained and standing felt so unnatural there was some sort of mental block? I don't know, but I couldn't do it.
  11. To OP, I have been thinking of you. It is an anxious time, even when things go smoothly. I remember when our last adoption was final, I broke down in tears at the courthouse. Things had gone smoothly, but it was an unusual case and I had not even realized how very worried and anxious I was until I felt the relief.
  12. We were mailed copies of the court documents as it went along. If this can't happen, maybe the worker can email? I wouldn't trust word of mouth. They are just so busy and have so many cases, plus all the inter-state stuff to get mixed up.
  13. We did recreational only. The gym closed when forced to, and they are opening back up now. In the interim they did some facebook videos and challenges. I'm not on fb and we didn't really participate. They are now having one team practice and one rec class each day, with cleaning in between. Kids kept apart, temps checked, any cough or sniffle sent home, limited seating in waiting area, etc. Mostly general conditioning so that coaches don't need to spot much. We're not planning on returning right now.
  14. Same here (well, and if dh didn't keep up on it all). I have seen a handful of masks at the grocery store, but it seems like they are only being worn by a few people 65+. It does seem like maybe people aren't shopping as families, bc I haven't seen many children.
  15. I haven't figured out how to multiquote on my phone, but thank you both for the replies. The part I quoted is especially helpful. I use RS, and it's been great in many ways, but I find the games tedious also. It's good to know that the two are different approaches.
  16. It's a dream come true for this extreme introvert. No having to balance the emotional energy suck of social requirements vs. family/kids/school vs. helping others. We've saved on gas and it's been easier to stick to not eating out. No feeling obligated to do whatever activity our social circle is doing even if we really would rather not. Most things somehow seem to involve a whole day or more of family time taken up and/or a hundred dollars all said and done. If the kids were older and more independent I'd be tackling numerous projects that never seem to get done. Alas, I seem to have zero extra quarantine time. There are negatives too, but overall for me personally it has been nice. Of course things will go back to semi-normal eventually, and I want them to for the sake of my more-social introvert and extrovert kids. In the meantime, though, I'm appreciating the break.
  17. Same, except small independent consignment store. Both kids had completely outgrown last year's summer clothes (and winter's) and had few clothes of any kind that fit. I normally would have had to buy a few things online, but since we're not going anywhere all I've needed to do online is underwear.
  18. You know, I've thought before about how I used to tolerate things better. I'd previously concluded I've gotten worse at dealing with things (loud noise, stimulation of various kinds) as I've gotten older. But maybe it's that the environment has changed. Or a combo of both.
  19. Thank you both! Probably these were too green, then. I'd just never had that happen, and when I bought them they looked the same as any other green banana I've ever bought (and those always ripened.) Both times these weren't Chiquitas, though I don't remember what they were.
  20. I don't wash bananas. But, while we're on the subject of bananas, have the bananas available to you been . . . normal bananas? We mostly have had no bananas available. Twice the local grocery store had green bananas (a different brand than usual) and they never ripened. They stayed green and got very hard. I've never had that happen before. I'm sure they were bananas, and they looked and felt just fine at first.
