  1. Yeah, it’s a bummer day for me, here. Been home from the hospital for a week, but dd isn’t really able to do or enjoy much. So we didn’t do the normal things we usually do. And there’s just an atmosphere of sadness around dh and I. I feel bad for our younger two, although they seem happy enough.
  2. One of my kids has been hospitalized for a week with no eta of when we can leave. What do you do to keep your spirits up through a hospital stay with a child? Mostly I’m staying in the room, dh may switch off for a night if he can work it out with work. So far, I’ve not eaten much, scrolled far too much, and tried to keep on holding things together. PS. I’m very sorry my Christmas cards to the hive didn’t get out - we have being dealing with this child’s illnesses non-stop the past several months and I feel like Gumby - constantly stretched out in every direction.
  3. I bought this in August, when I was in hospital with a broken pelvis. It is awesome, and I love it. 😂
  4. Wow, I would love to let her know about those types of jobs. She’s pretty lost on what she wants to do.
  5. My oldest dd (17.5yo) is self-diagnosed autistic. We had her ADHD formally diagnosed, and we are weighing the benefits of a formal diagnosis of autism. She says "but then i can never move to Cananda" and, No, she doesn't want to or plan to move to Canada, LOL. She has been majorly struggling in the last few years with schoolwork and social interactions. None of the ADHD medicine has been good for her (we've tried 4 now). She's at least 2 years behind in having enough credits for a diploma. My second oldest dd has had so many health problems for so long, unfortunately many of the signs for oldest dd that we recognize in hindsight were obscured. So are there benefits of pursuing a diagnosis?
  6. Tell me all about power wheelchairs. DD14's health demands one. I need to know all the ins and outs, please. Thank you.
  7. I wish I did. We haven’t made any friends nearby yet (only lived here a 1.5 yrs). My mom could pinch hit for me, but she is keeping up with our bouse, meals, animals, keeping kids in line, and still taking care of my 94 yr old grandma. Plus I was mid-planning when I went to the hospital, so everything is scattered. I’m hoping by next week I’ll be more myself so we won’t have to lose too much time.
  8. Hey everyone, I’ve been home 3 days now, and every day is a little better. Today was a lot of pain, but more slow movement around the house. PT said to stay out of bed, ice frequently, walk every hour, and move as much as I can. All of which I am trying to do in between naps, lol! I am also trying to plan homeschooling, which is pretty hard when I’m loopy on the drugs, lol. We were supposed to start next week, which remains to be seen. Thanks for all the thoughts and support!
  9. Thank you for this advice! They are sending home health to me, but I don’t k ow the details of that yet. But I want to be athletic again - I need to get back on my horses! So an athletic PT program would be amazing.
  10. I was able to get out of bed mostly myself today! And I walked about 40ish feet - out of the room and back to a chair. PT and OT feel like I can go home and skip the rehab!! That’s wonderful news because I’m ready to see my babies!
  11. She is physically healing up fine. She’s still sore. Emotionally, she’s a wreck. Terrified of riding in vehicles now. My parents brought all the kids to see me yesterday, and she was crying and hiding under a blanket. Breaks my heart. She struggles with anxiety and OCD. This is going to be rough for her.
  12. They gave me more painkillers and I was able to get up and walk about 20 feet today! It was really slow and tiring, but good progress.
  13. Thank you all for your opinions and experiences. This dd has very painful periods that sometimes come quite frequent, and many other health concerns right now. We tried birth control pills one time a few months ago, but they made her terribly nauseous. We will work on getting the hospital report to see exactly what they said.
  14. Dd14 was in the accident with me last week (see other thread). They did a CT scan on us both. Hers was clear but they did find two ovarian cysts. I don’t know how big they were; I wasn’t there when they told her about it. What do they do for those? Which dr should we visit first? Her primary or a gyn?
  15. Thank you everyone! Physical therapy was just here and it took two of them to get me up, and I couldn’t walk very far without my pain shooting up. So they want me to stay for several days.
  16. I’m thinking and praying for you too! I hope you regain strength soon. 💜
  17. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers! And adorable photos!! They made me smile!! 😁 I’m on a lot of pain meds, so I’m sleeping a lot. Physical therapists have me doing some exercises in bed for now.
  18. Dr just came in. She saw 4 breaks, said no surgery needed. No brace either. Best thing is to get up and moving. 😵‍💫 I said as long as I have good pain meds!!
  19. My dd14 and I were in a bad car accident yesterday. I have 5 fractures in my pelvis! Dr will be in soon to let me know if I need surgery. My daughter is banged up, but okay. So…. I need uplifting things to help me cope, please!! Prayers, funny stories, adorable photos, jokes! We have so much going on lately. Dd14 has chronic illnesses that we are sorting through, meaning lots of drs visits. I’m fairly certain I won’t be driving anytime soon, so I don’t know how we will work that out!
  20. 11th grade panic here, too! I’m just now ready to think about what the next school year could look like. This year was a wild ride, the kids started at a hybrid school, but they were constantly sick, dd1 diagnosed with ADD, pulled all of them out of hybrid in Dec, scrambled to put together a spring semester, my dd2 now has a long term illness, we have doctor visits multiple times a week. So… I know some of dd1 will be doing…. Gov’t & Econ. -WTMAcademy, & Algebra 2 -Math U See, & ASL -online But I still need to figure out English and Science. 😔 She really wants to do some Brave Writer classes. And dd2 is going to do a middle school physics course via Science Mom, which would be fun to study altogether, but I don’t know how to level up physics.
  21. Dd 13 got a diagnosis of dysautonomia today. They told us to increase fluid intake and salt. She had Covid last November, so this could be normal teenage onset or illness induced. Anyway, what do I need to know, research, advocate for?
  22. Ds9 saved enough money to buy his dream pet! Here’s Leo! Now we have: 22 chickens, 7 horses, 3 dogs, 2 bunnies, 2 cats, and 1 gecko living here 🫠
