  1. I’m so jealous of those of you with warmer and spring-like weather - Azaleas! Daffodils! I woke up to 17” of snow this morning and it hasn’t stopped all day. We need the water, so I should be grateful, but I’m so over winter!
  2. I’m moving in 2.5 weeks and am ridiculously excited. It’s into a house that I have had my eye on for a long time and always thought, “if that house ever becomes available, I would totally want to live there.” And now I am! I’m so excited in fact, that over the weekend I packed up pretty much my entire place and only left out what I need to get me through the next 2 weeks. It’s a little crazy to be surrounded by boxes for the next few weeks, but I really can’t wait to move there!
  3. Praying for you and your DH this morning.
  4. Praying everything will go well.
  5. I’ll join you in your rant over this. My son is at a school where it was -24 at 8:00 this morning, with a wind chill of -37. They did not cancel class and he has an in-class quiz in one class that is worth a lot of points and can’t be made up.
  6. Update: it’s just as great on the inside as I thought it would be. We’re working out the logistics but it looks like I’m going to be moving in a couple of weeks. Yay!
  7. I’ve driven past a particular house a million times in the last year, thinking, “if that house ever came up for sale or rent, I would totally want to live there.” It turns out my friend knows the owner, who asked if she knew anyone who would be interested in renting it. I talked to the owner tonight - it’s totally in my budget and I’m going to walk through it tomorrow. I think it’s very likely to work out and I’m probably going to get it!
  8. I have used the free version of EveryDollar for a few years now and really love it.
  9. I just did this in August after my divorce was finalized. Some may see it as a total pain, but it was such a celebration and a thrill for me to feel like I was reclaiming my life and my own self back I started at the Social Security office - my divorce decree included a name change so I just had to bring in a certified copy of my decree. It actually was really easy. Once I had a copy of my new social security card (it came quickly, like 2 weeks or so), then I used that to change my drivers license, passport, bank accounts, credit cards, etc. Having a few certified copies of my divorce decree really helped. I’m still running into things here and there that need my name changed, like the place I get my oil changed, but it’s easy to do and sooooo worth it in my opinion!
  10. I was able to get tickets a mere 7.5 hours after logging in. 😡 Luckily I worked from home today and didn’t have any meetings scheduled so I could work while waiting.
  11. I have one. Current O2 is 96 and HR is 109. I’m going to bed now even though it’s not quite 8 pm. My cousin said she would call and check on me periodically and bring me a grocery order. I also started a list of symptoms, temp, and time meds taken so I can keep track. Thanks so much to everyone for the help!
  12. That’s a great idea - thank you!
  13. I had a faint positive on a RAT test this morning and my symptoms have gotten progressively worse today, including major brain fog, so please be patient with me. Fever of 101.3, shivering chills, runny nose, raging headache. What are the quarantine rules these days? 5 days from onset or 5 days after last day of symptoms? Tylenol or Motrin for fever and headache? I think I remember one was better than the other. Is 12-hour Sudafed ok tonight? Any other suggestions for medications / food / etc. I live alone so doing this solo, but can get grocery delivery. Explain like I’m 5 please, (see brain fog above - I cannot think straight!)

  15. I’ve had a Saatva Luxury Firm for almost a year now and I love it. I, too, was cautious about buying a mattress I hadn’t tried, but took the leap after reading so many positive reviews. It has been a fantastic purchase for me!
  16. Ok, I’m going to share my positive apartment example. I moved into an apartment last fall - the first time in an apartment in 20+ years - and I love it. My 19 yo is with me, and we have not had any issues with sound, smells, bedbugs, or any other bad experiences. I have wonderful neighbors who have become friends, and we all look out for each other. For example, if one of us sees a package by the door to the building, we’ll put it in front of the person’s door who it belongs to. I have a washer/dryer in my unit, which I love. I wouldn’t want to have to go to the basement for that. On the rare occasion there is a funky cooking smell, I run my air purifier and it takes care of it. My son is currently working a construction job and has the worst-smelling shoes ever. I have him put them in a plastic garbage bag when he gets home after work, close it off, and he puts it in the closet by the laundry machines. We don’t smell them at all when he does that. In terms of noise, I think it really depends on how well-built the building is. I’ll occasionally hear my next-door neighbor’s garbage disposal running (our kitchens share a wall), but my building has a lot of solid insulation and I rarely hear my neighbors, even the ones who have elementary aged kids and a toddler.
  17. I may have to sign up for BritBox so I can watch the 2007 BBC version, just to purge this atrocity from my memory! 😁
  18. I watched it tonight, and totally agree. No chemistry whatsoever, too much snark, etc. Persuasion is one of my favorites, but not this version.
  19. Yep. My kids are 19-24 and it’s tough watching them make decisions that I totally disagree with. I keep telling myself, “they’ll figure it out,” and that “the most important thing is to preserve and strengthen the relationship,” but man, I miss those days when I had more say in their life!
  20. Praying for you and for your dad. I’m sure it’s such a hard decision, but adding my support that you are totally doing the right thing.
  21. I also use the Elta MD UV Clear tinted on my face. I used to never wear sunscreen daily until I went to the dermatologist about a year ago. I had several precancerous spots in my face and had to use chemotherapy cream to burn them all off. I don’t want to ever have to go through that again - it was not fun!
  22. Andrew is adorable! So happy for you and your family! I remember reading about your horrible phone calls and taking bets on how long they would last - I’m so glad you don’t have to deal with that and all the other stress any more.
  23. From the New York Times: When specially equipped federal immigration agents arrived at the elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday, the local police at the scene would not allow them to go after the gunman who had opened fire on students inside the school, according to two officials briefed on the situation. The agents from Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrived at some point between 12 p.m. and 12:10 p.m., according to the officials — far earlier than previously known. But they did not breach the adjoining classrooms of the school where the gunman had locked himself in until a little before 1 p.m. Members of the federal tactical team killed the gunman. I have no words.
  24. Sending you big hugs and prayers - that the judge will be fair and reasonable, and that you will feel good about the final result. Also, that you will feel peace moving forward.
