Anyone else watching today? We are in about 85% at my house but my son drove a few hours to 100%. We’re geeking out over here this morning!

This is what I think about. I have 4 who are all currently within the draft age.

Um, everything?! It’s a long story, but it turns out my ex-husband wasn’t actually saving anything at all for retirement. My divorce was finalized about a year ago and at age 50, I started with basically zero. Fortunately, I got a fantastic job and as long as I’m super careful, I will likely be able to retire someday and not have to work until I’m dead like I thought I would. So, currently saving for retirement like a crazy person. Ideally I’d like to buy a house someday, but that’s not looking very likely.

I was so sad to hear about this.

Here are some suggestions to find a lawyer: 1) Call your state bar association and ask if they have a lawyer referral program. Some do, but not all. You’re looking for a family lawyer. 2) If your state bar doesn’t have a referral program, Google “(Your state) family law association.” Look at the leadership of this organization and use those names as a starting point. You may not use the person you talk to, but explain your situation and location and ask for recommendations. I just want to tell you that you can do this! I’m just over a year out from my divorce being finalized and am soooo much happier now. Filing for divorce is scary, and going through the process can be hell (mine was), but trust yourself, be the person that you want to be, and know that life on the other side is 1000% better! We’re all rooting for you!

I don’t live in California, but we really like the beach on Balboa Island. There’s a couple of parking lots at 21st street or Palm Street, or you can try for street parking further up or down. It’s definitely crowded, but has a lot of fun shops, places to eat, and a beachfront path that we like to walk or ride bikes on. Google maps says it’s about 35-45 minutes to a Disneyland.

@TheReader Thank you so much! I am sincerely so grateful for your tips and advice! We flew in yesterday and have been mapping out our plan for tomorrow. One of the people we’re going with is a massive fan, so we will likely go a little earlier, but the tips for parking and getting back are absolutely invaluable! Based on what you said, I think we’ll stop at HEB and get some water and snacks to leave in the car for after and for our pockets at the concert. And track down some ear plugs, too. Again, so grateful!

Hi Houston friends, I’m traveling to Houston next weekend for the Taylor Swift concert and wondering if you have any tips you can share, especially regarding parking. So, serious question: what are concrete steps I can take to help stop these tragedies from continuing? Today I emailed both Senators, my representative, governor, state senator, and state representative. I’ve talked to everyone in my daily life and encouraged them to do the same. I don’t have a lot in spare financial resources but if there is an organization that is making a difference, I want to support them. I’m just feeling so angry, powerless, and upset - I’m trying to figure out what I can actively do to stop this from continuing to happen.

I hope you have a great day! I, too, recently changed jobs and had to remind myself that it takes at least a month to really settle in and not feel like everything is new, but it’s so worth it to be patient until that comes!

I would call the state bar association and ask for the contact info of the president or leader of the family law section of the state bar. Or try to Google it - the various sections often have websites. Then call that person and ask them to recommend the top 5 divorce attorneys in their state given the particular circumstances faced - whether it’s high wealth, domestic violence, or whatever the situation.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I just want to offer a message of hope - I was in a somewhat similar situation and am now a year and a half out and have never been happier. Stay true to who you are and know that you are stronger than you think. Sending my total support!

When my kids were in that season of life, we did a big meal at 3:30 or 4:00, and then a second lighter meal around 8 pm.

I wake up with vertigo a few times a year, so badly that I fall over when trying to walk. The Epley exercise never works for me, but one by Carol Foster does. There’s a YouTube video that I follow that works every time. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this - it really is the worst!

I’m so jealous of those of you with warmer and spring-like weather - Azaleas! Daffodils! I woke up to 17” of snow this morning and it hasn’t stopped all day. We need the water, so I should be grateful, but I’m so over winter!

I’m moving in 2.5 weeks and am ridiculously excited. It’s into a house that I have had my eye on for a long time and always thought, “if that house ever becomes available, I would totally want to live there.” And now I am! I’m so excited in fact, that over the weekend I packed up pretty much my entire place and only left out what I need to get me through the next 2 weeks. It’s a little crazy to be surrounded by boxes for the next few weeks, but I really can’t wait to move there!

I’ll join you in your rant over this. My son is at a school where it was -24 at 8:00 this morning, with a wind chill of -37. They did not cancel class and he has an in-class quiz in one class that is worth a lot of points and can’t be made up.
