  1. She is perfect! Congratulations!
  2. Do you know if it’s just the UV Elements that is changing? I use the UV Clear every day and love it - I hope it isn’t changing, too!
  3. Ugh, it’s the worst. I’m 52 and feel like I’ve been in this stage forever. I just went 117 days without a period, thinking I was finally done, but then today, BAM nope!
  4. Praying that all will be well.
  5. I use Carter’s baby washcloths found in the baby aisle at Target. They’re much softer than regular terry cloth washcloths and just absorbent enough (but not too much).
  6. I rowed over 45,000 meters last week, and have stayed on point with my eating. My weight is slowly inching down, so that’s encouraging. I have my meals planned out for the rest of the week, so should stay good. But this Saturday, I’m going on a vacation with my sister for a week, so all eating and exercise bets are off. We will do a lot of walking, but I do not intend to avoid all sugar like I have so far this year. I’ll get back on the case when we get home.
  7. One week into the new year, and I’m still on point with my food. I’ve been keeping track of things on My Fitness Pal, and haven’t had any of my regular stress foods (soda, sweets, etc). I’m trying to keep the momentum going, but also give myself some grace if I’m not perfect.
  8. I’d like to join back in for some accountability. My fitness goals this year include better eating and for my average monthly weight to move down by 1 lb. per month. I work between 50-60 hours a week, so it’s hard for me to fit in a lot, and to prepare meals that take a lot of time. Having said that, I feel like my exercise is pretty well dialed in - I row for 45 minutes every day (mostly for the stress-relief benefits!). But my eating can be atrocious at times - lots of stress eating and sometimes eating something like chips and salsa or cereal for dinner. It’s bad. What I would love is for someone to just make me a 2-3 week meal plan based on what I will realistically eat and have time to prepare. I’m just not going to eat pan-fried tofu in a 14-ingredient sauce with tons of veggies that take forever to peel, chop, and cook. I looked into a nutritionist through my health system, but they will only do meal plans for people with serious medical conditions. Any suggestions for an independent nutritionist who will make me a meal plan?
  9. I’m so sorry that things are hard right now. You sound like a really great mom who did everything to set them up well. It’s really hard when kids start making their own decisions contrary to what we think is best. I’m in the trenches of that right now, so I totally empathize. My kids are older now (20-26), and I have a lot of regrets on how I handled smartphones with them. If I were in your situation, I would buy her a Gabb phone (they weren’t a thing when my kids were younger). If her main concerns are texting friends and taking pictures, she can do both with it. There are also several apps that she can be downloaded as well. The biggest draw for me is that it’s not connected to the internet, so for someone who may not be making the best decisions regarding that, it’s not even available.
  10. If so, what type and brand? I woke up this morning with a pretty bad vestibular migraine - to the point I couldn’t sit up or get out of bed without extreme dizziness and nausea. Fortunately, I’m feeling better but still have low-level dizziness when moving about. I dove down the Google rabbit hole today and learned that many migraine sufferers are low in magnesium and I’m thinking I’d like to supplement. But there are so many different forms, and a million brands - I’m looking for recommendations from people who are actually taking a supplement. Thanks!
  11. Sending all my love to you
  12. Understandably, I was pretty angry about it at the time. I mean, who leaves kids that age unsupervised with glitter glue?! But I can totally laugh about it now. And my kids and I really do refer to it as the Great Glitter Glue Disaster of 2007!
  13. It started out benignly enough when my then in-laws were in town for their annual 17-day stay over Christmas (now that’s another story for another time!) My kiddos were 8, 6, 5 and 3 at the time and I needed to run to the store to get food for dinner that night. Grammy suggested that she would stay with the kids and do a craft with them so I could go by myself. Sounds great, right?! Oh no. Apparently the craft involved tubes and tubes of glitter glue, which the kids quickly tired of, so they moved on to playing with their toys and moving throughout the house. Except they all had stepped in globs of it the had spilled on the floor, and had it sticking to their hands without cleaning up. Grammy had stepped outside to take a call, leaving the kids unsupervised, and glitter was EVERYWHERE throughout my house. Footprints in the carpet, handprints on the walls, all over all the toys - I came across that stuff for years later. Grammy just kind of shrugged, and was like, “kids, right?” From that time forth, any form of glitter is forbidden to cross my threshold!
  14. Yep, glitter of any form has been banned from my house since the Great Glitter Glue Disaster of 2007.
  15. I bought a TC5 about 6 months ago and absolutely love it.
  16. I’m doing Thanksgiving this Sunday with my kiddos because they’ll be with their dad on the actual day. There will just be 6 of us, so it’s hard to make a ton of food when several of them are picky eaters. I’ll make: roast Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce, homemade rolls, and then Costco pumpkin and apple pies with vanilla ice cream. There will be a ton of leftovers, but we’ll eat it for the rest of the week.
  17. My stress is exponentially lower if I go sit in the sun for 15 minutes. I slather on the sunscreen and feel like my stress is melting away. It makes a huge difference for me!
  18. I went last night and the crowd was about an 8 overall, which was fun. Some were standing and dancing nearly the whole time, but others just sat there in their seats. I was on the back row so stood up and danced for several songs, but the person I was with didn’t and seemed embarrassed for me. I don’t care, though - I had a good time!
  19. Anyone else watching today? We are in about 85% at my house but my son drove a few hours to 100%. We’re geeking out over here this morning!
  20. This is what I think about. I have 4 who are all currently within the draft age.
  21. Um, everything?! It’s a long story, but it turns out my ex-husband wasn’t actually saving anything at all for retirement. My divorce was finalized about a year ago and at age 50, I started with basically zero. Fortunately, I got a fantastic job and as long as I’m super careful, I will likely be able to retire someday and not have to work until I’m dead like I thought I would. So, currently saving for retirement like a crazy person. Ideally I’d like to buy a house someday, but that’s not looking very likely.
