  1. JMJT I only do 10 minute increments with my 4 year old. So we start with prayer and religion, then it's off to play for at least half an hour. Then spelling or math, and throughout the week I'll mix in solfege, nature journal, poetry teatime, and sensory tub. My 4 year old is so active it would be painful for all of us to have to sit still for a long period of time. Plus my 3 year old can easily do the same topics (if she wants to) with us without losing focus. 🙂
  2. Yes, Tibbie Dunbar, that's correct. Our faith covers all that ?
  3. I haven't read the book you mentioned, and my kiddos are just starting homeschool, but my husband and I have set our main goals that won't change: the kids need to learn their faith, and they need to learn sacrifice, obedience and discipline. Everything else we teach (all that I've gleaned from these forums and from blogs and from experienced homeschool moms in our parish) will probably change based on my kids temperaments and learning styles.
  4. I use a regular calendar (one for my 4 year old and one for my 2 year old) and we do this every day: We go over the days of the week, what today's date is (Thursday, May 17th,2018). What yesterday and tomorrow are. We look up the temperature and what it looks like outside and I record it on their calendars. And of course we put stickers on too. The stickers cover everything I record ? We've been doing this for about 3 months and it has helped my 4 year old with recognizing numbers and knowing which day of the week it is and what day tomorrow is.
  5. We do a lot of scavenger hunts at museums, parks and nature centers. Sometimes I can find one on the locations website, or I Google it and make one up :)
