  1. The Blue and the Gray series by Joseph Altsheler is excellent. It is a series of eight books. The two main characters are cousins, one who fights for the Confederacy and one who for the Union. The books alternate between the cousins.
  2. Don't miss the Constitution. I was there a couple of years ago and that was my favorite part.
  3. I agree with recomending the Burgess books. They are excellent stories that she won't despise as she gets older.
  4. I highly recommend Dr. Rushdoony's American history series. It does not replace a history textbook, as it deals more with idea's than with events, but it makes understanding of our country so much richer. If you want to follow along with the assigned reading you will need Democracy in America by Alexis de Tocqueville. I love this set of lectures. I have listened to them twice, and intend to do it many more times.
  5. G.A. Henty is good historical fiction. I learned a lot of history from reading Henty. You could check out Inheritance Publications. They have a lot of historical fiction, and some of my favorite books and authors.
  6. The quick reply icon is the far right icon on the bottom of the message.
  7. I usually send a pm unless they request to be emailed.
  8. We've used ebay and the sale and swap board on this forum. We don't do ebay to much anymore, because their fees are outrageous!
  9. This looks great! I have been planning on joining paperback swap, so I will have to see if I join that or bookmooch.
  10. I think this is a fairly recent rule as I have posted on the for sale board before, and then all of a sudden I couldn't! Oh well, I am almost to 50 posts. :)
  11. Hamsters are good. They are solitary, so they actually do best with just one! They are friendly and fun to play with. Gerbils do best with at least two, and are much more of a hassle to keep in their cage because they chew and jump a lot more than hamsters.
  12. I love this book! There are no balloons though. One thing I thought would be fun is to see how long it would take to go around the world today. Of course the way the airlines are working these days it might take eighty days!
