  1. Not that I know of...but I get a ton of spam because of the magazine too. As far as data mining, it aggravates me. I am shocked at the crappy ethics in evidence everywhere. I only use what I need to communicate with subscribers. Will not sell it for any price. My integrity is too important. :) You can hit up the website if you're interested, learningtangent.com there's a lot that freely available, but we keep the quarterly pub just for subscribers. 2. Thanks IEF and Mommyof1 for the welcome! I agree the web really is not a suitable replacement for magazines. Honestly, when we are putting something to print it forces us to be more aware of the quality. I love some of the blogs out there, but so many are just ...blah. The magazine started in response to the fact that there really weren't any that just focused on the homeschooling, rather than this or that religious path. There is nothing quite like holding a real, physical magazine in your hands... We are very safe from the fires, most are in the LA area and north, we are east of San Diego. That said, we're on high-alert and ready to go if we need to, areas nearby were burnt during the Cedar fire and others in 2003 and 2007. I may do that, we do sometimes feel alone in the independent thing here in California. Seems like most people have gone to charters, and we just can't bring ourselves to be told what to do...
  3. Hi there! Finally getting around to joining this forum.. LOL. In addition to homeschooling our twin boys, I'm always busy with some crazy idea, playing my instruments (violin, viola), and publish a little homeschool magazine. 4. We are in southern California, I would say most here go through a charter. We are fully independent, and do most things ourselves. That said, I do buy some curriculum because it makes sense to do so, science, math, etc. It actually gives me the time I want with my kids, so we choose curriculum and classes carefully.
