  1. It's going to be VERY hard for me to keep it a secret till Christmas!!!!
  2. I was reading about how discouraged everyone is getting with Amazon, then I read Kari's post that she got a Wii through Amazon and it hit me like a ton of bricks. . . OH MY GOSH. . .I FORGOT TO CALL GAMESTOP TODAY ( I have to call them everyday to see if they got any Wii's in.) Thank goodness that reminded me to call. . .because they got some in today!!!!! I GOT DS A WII FOR CHRISTMAS! I can't wait for him to open it! So thanks Kari for being such a great neighbor!
  3. Vyvanse is working for us. . .we tried Ritalin LA and it worked for a while but lost it's effectiveness after a year. The biggest side effect is appetite. We only medicate Monday thru Friday (school days) and his appetite does increase over the weekend. M-F though, he may eat a few bites (literally) for breakfast, no lunch (a few bites) and if it's worn off by supper he'll eat what I consider about half his normal portion. We don't give it to him during the summer either. This is STRICTLY for school work. HTH! shell
  4. Check mobile home supply places too. . .we had a mobile home with a small space for a frig back when we first got married and the only place we could find one to fit was at a mobile home supply store. Maybe you can find one to fit there.
  5. Yep, makes perfect sense. . .I think my brain shuts down when division is required. . .not a big fan of it. . .fractions either. Hmmm, no wonder DS is having problems. Thanks! I'd rep ya if we still had it!
  6. I'm COMPLETELY brain dead. . .my mind can't wrap around this one. . . Julia ate 1/2 pint of mint chocolate chip ice cream. Mark ate 3/4 pint of malt ice cream. How many times more ice cream did Mark eat? Should be pretty easy right. . .I'm just can't get it. Thanks!
  7. I was under the assumption that when you make a payment the interest is calculated on the current balance. otherwise what would the difference b/t an installment and a mortgage loan. As I'm typing this I'm thinking also that the amount of interest applied from each payment is also dependent on how many days it's paid since your last payment, which would also support the "calculated on current balance" idea. I've also heard that if you get delinquent and skip payments that it's quite possible to get to the point that you aren't paying any principle b/c there is so much interest due there's no money left of your payment to go to principle. Does that make sense. . .I hope so. . .I'm a little sleepy this morning.
  8. NO NO and NO!!! Didn't enjoy my childhood. . .maybe I'm subconciously staying child-like until I have one I enjoy! Sometimes I feel like I'm "mentally" not my age. It's strange. . .I have adult/parent friends, but there's a part of me that's still stuck on the teenager level. I often find myself chatting with the teens at church and sitting with them and joking during church meals, and I sometimes have to watch that I don't get TOO drawn in to their "teeny-bopper" conversations. It's strange. . .I've often wondered if there isn't something wrong with me. One of my cousins asked me how old I was a few years ago (I'm 39 now, so I was WELL into my 30's) I quick blurted out twenty. . .as I was trying to remember how old I was and they were quick to say NO YOUR NOT 20Something. Hope that makes sense.
  9. My recipe doesn't use marshmellow for filling. . .it's a scratch PA Dutch recipe. I don't have it with me, but if you want it I'll find it this evening for you. I don't know about the one your talking about. . .is it an easier recipe? (IE-boxed cake instead of scratch)
  10. How often do you use the cell phones? DS and I hardly ever use ours so we have pre-paid phones. We each go through about $30 worth of minutes every 6 weeks (10 cents a minute). net10 has turned out for us to be the cheapest. Most pre-paid plans charge you $1.00 a day, but they don't. I have had no problems with the service and the phone selection is pretty decent too. Also if you have cable TV maybe you can bundle high speed and VOIP phone and save some money. Good Luck!
  11. how about searching "he spat on the floor" deli picadilly it will search for the phrase AND the other words.
  12. Sharon, I know people around here get kinda fanatical about their teams, but orange toilets. . .now I've heard it all.
  13. PRAY. . .and I am by the way (for your fam and the situation, that is!)
  14. We're thinking alike. . .I had the same thoughts from the title. Imagine my disappointment when I read that a ham had been cooked in it. . .
  15. Growing up, we each picked out an ornament every Christmas. My dad would make sure to put the year on it somewhere (even if he had to do it with a sharpie). We would even do ornament exchanges with my little playmates from the neighborhood. So I have quite a diverse collection of C-mas ornaments. I put those ornaments on my tree every year (even the ET one), and have bought my kids ornaments every year as well. I didn't realize it was such a big deal to them till this weekend, when DD stopped by for Thanksgiving dessert and I asked her if she needed some C-mas decorations. We wound up going through boxes and boxes of decorations to get some things for her to put on her tree. We came across her ornaments and I asked her if she wanted them or not. She looked at me like I was crazy and took them from me. So we may have the TACKIEST tree in the neighborhood, but it's full of memories!
  16. I work out at Contours Express. It's a Circuit, 45 sec. on a machine, 45 sec. cardio and so on. Twice around the circuit is a little over an hour and the recommended plan. Some of the ladies do three times around. I haven't been that brave yet, but some days I'll do a little extra cardio, some days a little extra weights. It has worked for me! Earlier this year I was on a strict diet and was losing weight but going to the gym was what gave my body some curves and contour. I was amazed at how much difference the workout made compared to other times when I dieted but didn't exercise. So I know that circuits work.
  17. More praise for the Sansa fuse! I love mine! The folks at Best Buy were playing around with mine and said that it (the sansa) was much easier to use than the iPod and that the picture was much clearer too. I have absolutely no complaints about mine. . .DS has one too. I think price and quality wise that SanDisk is the best deal.
  18. We did it and have NO regrets, just remember to register your cell numbers on the national Do Not Call Registry. I forgot and have been getting telemarketers for the past few weeks.
  19. Yeah, we did marriage counseling and DH almost stopped b/c it made us (especially me) feel worse before we started getting better!
  20. Well, one positive is that he gets 30 days of leave a year. . .hopefully he can save up some money to fly home for holidays and special occasions. I was in Texas and my family all lived in PA, I saved up like crazy and went home for the Christmas holidays. Write him lots of letters. My mom wrote me TONS of letters. . .sometimes everyday.
  21. You'd probably need to pound the pavement. Maybe offer some kind of incentive. . .discount on first cleaning or something like that.
  22. Drama Queen. . . Businesses usually require night-time cleaning. Most don't want cleaning people around during business hours. It sounds like that might be perfect for you! I would try small offices and businesses first. Also, I don't know how long ago you did the bookkeeping, but if it was a few years ago, maybe people were apprehensive b/c the whole remote access thing was newer and people were unsure of safety and security. Now might be a better time to try that. For the stubborn ones you could tell them that you charge an on-site premium if they require you to do all the work there. That might be an incentive for them to let you do it at home. Good luck. . .let us know what you decide!
  23. momtoboys. . .here's one way to look at it. . .you said that it's very complicated and spans many years, so it's gonna take some time to get through all.those.years. of stuff. That stuff that's been building up for years and years is going to take some time to get through, you've got to work through the stuff on the outside to get into the stuff on the inside (does that make sense). Diamonds take years and years of yukky carbon buildup to get to the point of being the most beautiful, strongest stone on the earth. We're kinda the same way. We take years and years and years of abuse/disfunction and it builds up over time. Once we realize that we need to break through those layers and we get some help, it can't just happen overnight. It takes time to polish, shine and cut that diamond to make it look it's best, and that's the same way as us too. I know that it's frustrating. . .once you decide you want an improvement, it doesn't happen overnight, but in the long run it'll be worth it. Just hang in there for a while longer! :grouphug:
  24. I want to try to make chocolate covered "stuff" this holiday season. I'm thinking specifically chocolate covered raisins and p-nuts or clusters of either. I know NOTHING about making candy and the thought of melting chocolate scares the. . .well you know. . .out of me. Any tips from you veterans/pros and any websites out there that might help. . . I couldn't seem to find much when I did an internet search. Thanks! shell
  25. I can believe that. . .I work in a manuf. plant. . .not auto industry, but our salaries in the plant range from $9.00 up to probably about $17.00 depends on what you do and how long you've been doing it. We're not that big, so I can imagine some salaries getting pretty high up there, while there are still some making $9.00 and if the economy slows you have unscheduled shutdowns to worry about. We took a 4 day shutdown in Oct, and our usual 2 day Thanksgiving shutdown was extended to 6. Unless you got extra vacation, you don't get paid.
