  1. Didn't get anything yesterday like I wanted too. Just too tired from our trip. Plus overwhelm from the shear amount of work I have ahead of me.

Today though I've already loaded the stuff and empty boxes that were in the mudroom in the back of dh's truck ready to go to the garbage bin and the burn pile.

Gotta get some more clutter out of our master bath and laundry room to load up.

Unpack and do laundry and then do some clothes decluttering since we got some new clothes while we were vacation shopping.

And we will see where we go from there. lol

    UPDATE:

Clutter gone from master bath and laundry room.

Got suitcases unpacked and put away and laundry going.

Got some major decluttering done in the master bedroom, just need to get it loaded up in the truck. 🙂

  2. Well, we made it through IKEA in an hour and 45 minutes and under a hundred dollars lol. We got some storage containers, several faux plants, kitchen utensils, wall hooks, and a pet bed.lol

I didn't see salmon lasagna on the menu.

I also got to take a look at the hemnes bathroom vanity which I'm considering for our bathroom remodel.

We are stopped for lunch in Sherman so we still have about 3 hours of driving ahead of us. Thanks everyone for the help. We had a lot of fun and will probably make a trip back soon. 😁

I suggest decluttering before you go. That way you will know what organizing tools you need.

It can be an overwhelming experience. I would take the pressure off myself to buy something the first trip. Maybe just wander through all the model rooms and make a list of ideas, see what's in stock, go home and measure spaces, then make a purchase plan.

Normally I would but we live 4 hours away. We are in Dallas currently for Ds's bday/Xmas trip. We are just going to stop by Ikea on our way home tomorrow. I may or may not actually buy anything. Depends on how things go. No idea how long it will be before we travel to Dallas again.

  4. Just went to Trader Joe's for the first time. 😋

Tomorrow we are going to IKEA for the first time ever. Any hints tips or suggestions are welcome. I'm mostly looking for organizational things to organize what I don't declutter when I get home. Lol

  5. We get back home Thursday and my plan is to jump back in with decluttering on Friday! Our master bedroom and our extra bedroom/craft room really need the most attention. We have a dresser that was given to us that needs to be moved from the shed into the house once I declutter our master bedroom enough.

  6. Packing up on Christmas Eve and we'll be heading out for ds's Christmas/birthday trip on Monday. Ds is getting his own suitcase as a present. I haven't decided yet if he's getting it on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. He really likes this idea of a trip as a present. He's already decided where he wants to go next year. 🤣

Where are you that you have a heavy line of traffic going 80?  I've driven in many parts of the rural (and city) west (and texas), and nowhere was everyone going that fast in heavy traffic.  (in DFW I encountered people that drive that fast - but they're the exception, especially in a line of traffic trying to exit/enter.)

There is an area here where a smaller interstate meets I-40 and you have to merge into traffic, frequently heavy traffic, where the speed limit is 75 but people are usually going 80 or faster. It's a bit of a blind turn coming into the merge lane but I've always had plenty of time to find an opening and go for it. Luckily, to me, it's no big deal, I don't mind city driving and traffic.

Honestly, I'm the opposite. I'll take interstate driving any day over country backroads. I've had far more near accidents on country backroads than on the interstates.

I will admit though that NWA interstate/freeway is nuts. It's 65 - 75 speed limit and anywhere from 3 to 5 lanes wide. Heavy traffic is the norm, not the exception and people drive like they should have left yesterday. Not to mention it seems to be constantly under construction. I have to take dh up there once a month for the foreseeable future because he is having a procedure done up there this coming April. I have to take the Interstate/freeway for the most part but if we are just going from one dr's office to another and it isn't too far out of the way to avoid the freeway, I do avoid that one.

  8. I'm not sure what the countertops are made of. We got them from the Habitat for Humanity Restore. They are not stone. They feel like porcelain but I doubt they are. Just smooth white one piece sink and countertop vanity pieces. Fairly heavy. I would feel confident using vinegar to clean them or even regular bathroom cleaner with bleach.

I had a black composite kitchen sink when we first moved into this house. Never. Again. I removed it and put in a stainless steel one. Much better. lol

  9. Do you like them?

I need to pick bathroom faucets for both of our bathrooms. I have white one piece vanity tops for both bathrooms. I was thinking of going with black or oil rubbed bronze fixtures for both. But in reading the reviews, a lot of people complain black fixtures are hard to keep clean. I don't have little kids in the house anymore, just one tween who is fairly neat in his bathroom habits. So I'm not too worried about toothpaste spittle everywhere or stuff like that anymore.

Just wondering if I will regret getting black fixtures as I've never had them before.

  10. It's kinda hard to explain without showing the map but basically it has a road labeled as an extension of the road we live on that is not an extension of our road. If you try to take that other road to get to our house you will run into a dead end at the base of a mountain. It is bad enough that we constantly have to tell people do NOT turn on X road to get here no matter what your GPS says. The road does not connect to our road like the map says it does. Even UPS and FedEx have to call us 75% of the time to find our house because they turn on that wrongly labeled road on Google maps.

I pointed out the error years ago on Google maps. I'm still waiting for it to be changed. 🙄

  11. You're right, the first thing that comes to mind is games.

My ds23 got a giant fish pillow a few years ago as a gag gift. He actually ended up loving that gift. lol

Maybe a decor sign with something witty or sarcastic on it? I have one that says "The house was clean yesterday. Sorry you missed it." There tons of signs like that on Etsy, many are saucier than mine which might go over well with a younger crowd. If you have access to a Cricut machine, you could make one fairly inexpensively too.

Do you cross stitch by chance? Snarky and sarcastic cross stitch patterns are a thing.

I would think any of the giant candy bars sold at Xmas would go over well with a crowd of young adults to eat it. Or the gift sets like 15 different kinds of coffee or hot sauce that are Christmas themed. If they are old enough to drink, there are beer and liquor gift sets too.

  12. Dh walked in the room and saw the sofa turned in the middle of the room and in a concerned voice says, "What is this?!?" lol he doesn't like change much. 🤪

Then I showed him the rug and he said, "But we just got rid of all the carpet in here..." with his "what is wrong with you?" face on.

I may have had too much coffee today. 🤣

I am not longer young enough to experimentally drag furniture around to play with placement!

Lol, I'm not either but as dh would say I'm "feelin' a bit froggy" today. 😂 And I've gotta move the couch anyways to clean under it so its not too big a deal to turn it while I clean under where it was. Moving the 12' computer desk is going to be a much bigger ordeal than just sliding the sofa around. So. Much. Clutter. to deal with on the desks lol.
