  1. The TPD did a shoddy "investigation", not even bothering to look at the multiple cc cameras in the bar from which she left with the accused and his friends. She was discouraged by the campus police and by TPD to pursue the case. She was doxed at the school, vilified by the local media, and on social media was bullied unbelievably. She was a teenager, and forced to drop out of the university because of the harassment.
  2. Maybe not say stuff like Why didn't she tell him to **** off? And imply Oh, I'm a martial artist who would never take this ****, I would hit him in the mouth. Thank the first wave feminists that females can now easily find martial arts classes that accept them. Don't blame us because NO ONE LISTENED.
  3. We've been vegan over ten years and got by fine never having heard or soy curls until last year. Soy curls are a whole soy product, kind of freeze-dried and stretched out. Amazingly meat-like, in case that grosses you out. I found soy curls at a Whole Foods. It reconstitutes by soaking it in water for 10 minutes, squeezing out the excess liquid, and then cooking it like meat. I've been pan-frying at that point to put a little bit of crispy on the exterior. The last thing I did with it was to mix it up with a Thai-type sauce with scallions, peanuts, sugar snap peas, matchstick cut carrots, and baby kale over brown rice. The whole dish would work without the soy curls (I use dried mushrooms a lot instead), and I've fixed it that way before. But there's something in me that kind of enjoys having some brown food on my plate, and it adds extra protein and that "full" feeling. As a new vegan, it's best to keep it simple. Some usual meals can easily be veganized, like spaghetti, chili, Mexican (or Tex-Mex [emoji6] ), stir fries, soups, etc. Don't feel like you have to buy expensive things like soy curls. Tofu is cheaper and easy to find if you want soy.
  4. Nvm, just repeating what I now read others have said better than I.
  5. Were you in the working world in the 1980s? I was, and this post feels EXACTLY like victim blaming.
  6. If you are going to supplement calcium, adding vitamin D and magnesium is a good idea to aid in his body's calcium absorption. Also watch for stomach upset with the calcium.
  7. There's a lot of discussion in England about chemtrails. I just googled 'chemtrails Britain' and got a lot of results (lots of which look ridiculous, but some may be usable?) There are a zillion YouTubes on it, maybe some may of them give sources. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mcZaJEMsSwM There are related videos listed underneath this ^ one. https://www.chemtrailsprojectuk.com/ https://www.chemtrailsprojectuk.com/take-action/directive/ http://www.scottishchemtrails.com/?m=1
  8. And once the victim goes to campus authorities, she is very often discouraged from contacting the actual police. It looks bad for campuses to have students attacked. And if a student athlete is the accused attacker, even the local police urge the victim to drop it and do cursory investigations (Florida State U, I'm looking at you after that quarterback Jamis Winston case.)
  9. The thing is is that the power in the relationship will likely become more and more uneven as they age. Women have the most power when they are young, fertile, and attractive. We may not like it, but thems the facts.
  10. Hand them a physical letter and be firm. Practice saying, "I wish it had worked out, but I just cannot continue on here" and keep repeating it no matter how they try to say they will change hours, etc.
  11. I live in a US city renowned for its many strip clubs, many of which are full nude clubs that encourage lap dances. There are VIP rooms where the guys with money can go to privately receive "dances" from one or more women. Sex acts commonly take place in these rooms. The dancers are often addicted to drugs and poor. Many of the clubs actually make women pay them to dance there, and sometimes must even tip share. I know there are exceptions, but most are not going to have fancy careers later in life. The women are going to make less and less as they age out, get a c section scar, etc. There's one club here that specializes in pregnant dancers, another with overweight women. Interestingly, there seem to be voluntarily segregated "black" and "white" strip clubs. I'm a nurse in women's health, and have had a lot of contact with exotic dancers. Oh, and the patrons are welcomed into most of these clubs at 18 years of age. Dancer age is minimum of 18 as well. There are generally no female owners or management in these clubs.
  12. A pretty scarf or a soft small throw for the sofa
  13. Bob Costas announced that he has retired.
  14. I'm too sad about the gymnasts now to watch even the winter games this year.
  15. I don't think Tex Mex is inferior, as the thread title proclaims. It's a different cuisine, and many people outside Texas call it Mexican food in any case. I like the authentic Mexican food better, for nutrition, taste, and easier vegan options. There's a food truck near my work with great authentic Mexican food. So many fantastic vegan foods, and the cooks and workers seem so happy all the time; it's a joy to go there. A sign outside says "Broken English spoken here". :)
  16. I would be more blunt and add in something about the late hours. "Because of my young children and family circumstances, I have found that it is not possible for me to work the hours and distances required. I thank you for the opportunity extended, and I wish the best for the company in the future."
  17. I still wouldn't know if anyone in a porn: 1. Knew they were being filmed and that it was going to be shown to others and 2. Whether both (or all) participants really agreed willingly, or was there pressure or abuse behind the scenes? So not acceptable to me.
  18. I have a rice cooker and an IP. The rice cooker is now in a cabinet, while the IP is on the counter...used a lot. We are vegan so use it for brown, purple, wild, white rices and for quinoa and other grains as well. You can put away your stove top pressure cooker with an IP: the dried beans, peas, lentils are the bomb.
  19. This. Humans do not absorb dairy calcium well, so the amount of calcium listed for cow dairy products is not what your child gets. Vitamin D supplement is added to the cow milk to aid this, but still absorption rate is not high. The US dairy industry is very powerful, and the medical industry believes the dairy hype, not surprising as doctors get very little education on nutrition. http://www.nutritionmd.org/nutrition_tips/nutrition_tips_infant_nutrition/breastfeeding_milks.html My children did not have dairy and are 29 and 25 now. Both are healthy, normal weight, athletic, have never broken a bone (knock wood). They weaned from breastfeeding and ate food.
  20. That's so sad! I went to their store in Maine in the '70s, and I had my brother's very old LL Bean down jacket on. It had a piece of electrical tape to cover a small tear on the sleeve, and an employee saw it, whisked me over to the rack and had a new free jacket on me in two seconds. Edit: finished reading the thread, and the new policy sounds very reasonable to me.
  21. I'm sorry you're going through this. I would start with the sleep issue. At ten years old, she needs to be in her room with no screens at X:00 (whatever time you guys decide) and not to come out until morning unless to use the bathroom (and she can have a cup to get water with if thirsty). I'd allow her to read and write, and have a set time when you or dh go in and tell her sweet dreams and lights out! And have a set waking time, too. No sleeping in till noon (teen years upcoming!!). The second thing I'd do is feed her healthy, healthy foods, give a multi vitamin and extra vitamin D, maybe a B complex if she doesn't hate it. No dyes in food, no added sugar or high fructose corn syrup foods in the house. (Dh can suck it up.) I'd have lots of fruit for her. Third, I would read to her as much as I could. If she is fidgety, she can knit, sew, or draw while you read. I wouldn't make her handwriting a priority since she struggles at this time, but I'd have her keyboarding daily. If the only screen available to her has a physical keyboard, she'll learn to type fast. Fourth, I'd give her tons of physical affection, and share laughs with her. Tell her funny stuff that happens and don't be afraid to laugh (it's contagious and good for her). Hang in there. [emoji173]
  22. https://www.nofas.org/light-drinking/ There are studies that show that light alcohol consumption during pregnancy does not appear to have a negative effect on the fetus. However, given that there is no real way to test for subtle harm done to the fetus, unless I guess you took identical twin embryos and implanted one each in the uterus of identical twin mothers who will then eat, sleep, work, and do everything the same during the pregnancy. Then they'd raise the twins exactly the same and see if there are LDs or differences in IQ, etc. Not to mention miscarriage risks.
