  1. Miralax worked for my son after we tried EVERYTHING else, even laxatives and enemas. My son was in so much pain and our pediatrician talked about bringing him in for the manual removal of the impacted feces. He told us to try Miralax as a last resort and it worked! I think my son was around 3 years old at the time. The doctor gave us the exact dosage to use. We had to continue to use it for a few weeks after that just to heal everything.
  2. This happened to me also. What worked for me is I clicked the arrow on the right that hides the menu above the reply window, and then I was able to right click & paste. Then I just clicked the arrow to see the menu again.
  3. We have T-Mobile. Three phones, unlimited talk, text & data. About $100 which includes taxes and fees.
  4. I consider myself an introvert and I’ve always found it difficult to hold a conversation with strangers and even family members I don’t see often. This might sound silly but when I became a coffee drinker a few years ago I discovered that the caffeine makes me bubbly and VERY talkative. It’s like I turn into a different person! So now I have a cup of coffee before I have to go to an event and that really helps me. I also make the decision to ask people questions about their family, job, hobbies, etc, and be genuinely interested so then I have more questions to ask and the conversation flows more easily for me. I have a friend who is a non-stop talker. She can talk about anything, with anyone, anytime and she’s exuberant and really funny too. I do wish I could be more like her. (At times though I wished I could just tell her to shut up a minute. Haha)
  5. I throw my phone in a Vera Bradley wristlet when I just want to carry the phone and my license and a credit card or two. I have the Smartphone Wristlet and my daughter uses the Zip Zip Wristlet. I also use one of their older zip around wristlets but I don't see it on their website anymore. Ebay is great for VB bargains.
  6. A few months ago I was in a car accident where we were hit hard from behind which then also pushed us into the car in front of us. I had my seatbelt on but my head and neck got a good jolt from the back and front collisions. I immediately felt pain and pressure in my head and pain in my face, eye sockets, and jaw. I went to a local walk-in clinic. X-rays came back fine and I was told the head pain was from adrenaline and that I didn't have a concussion because I didn't hit my head. The pain and pressure continued all week and I was sleeping a lot. I then went to my own doctor and was told I had post concussion syndrome. And, yes, you absolutely can get a concussion without actually hitting your head. She told me to get a lot of rest and limit activity until all symptoms were gone and to not watch too much TV, especially anything that was too stimulating like violence or action. She really wanted my brain to just rest and to keep quiet. She even called me after a few days to find out how I was doing. I was glad she took my symptoms seriously, even though they honestly weren't bad compared to others. I was symptom free in a couple weeks.
  7. We use the c:geo app on our android phone and have always gotten within a few feet of the cache.
  8. In our home we have KJV, NKJV, Holman, CEV, NIV, NLT, ESV and I think one more. I will add two more shortly: The NLT Life Application Study Bible 2012 edition. My current NLT is the 1996 version and there has been an important revision since then to "increase the level of precision without sacrificing the text's easy-to-understand quality". And the ESV Thinline Reference Bible 2013 edition. I curently have a 2002 version and I believe there have been 2 revisions since then. The NLT and ESV are my favorites.
  9. Last year, one of my son's teachers (we use a distance program) suggested that certain assignments through the year should be combined for the whole chapter and I should take one total grade for them. She felt that since these particular texbook assignments were mostly 3-4 questions apiece, it would be unfair if, say, he got 1 wrong out of the 3 and got a failing grade. So combining these assignments for the whole chapter put the total possible points earned to around 15 rather than 3 possible points for each. So this year I have similar situations in which the assignments are often just a few questions. How would you grade these? Would you combine with other assignments or just grade as is. I don't want to give an unfair advantage, but I do want to be fair. For instance, in math my son might make a silly mistake. Perhaps he copies down a number wrong and therefore his final answer isn't what it should be even though he correctly used and understood the process and formula to get his answer. I still mark it incorrect because he made a careless mistake. If there were only 3 math problems his grade would not be very good. But if there were 20 problems and he got only that one wrong, that grade would be a better assessment of what he has learned. Know what I mean?
  10. I ordered Spanish 1 (BJU Distance Learning) to use for 7th grade and, after reading another thread on a similar topic, am wondering if I should spread it out over 2 years and then do Spanish 2 in 9th grade. Does this sound like a good idea, or should I just go ahead and plan to complete it in 1 year? I didn't realize it was a high school course when I ordered it - they start offering it as an elective for 7th grade. If you've used BJU Spanish 1, I'd appreciate your thoughts.
  11. Yes! I didn't realize how LOUD it is until we went for the first time a couple years ago. We used little ear plugs but they really didn't do much. My husband and son now have good quality ear protection which they take to Monster Truck shows. I would need to get something for me though, if we don't do the scanner. So the audio broadcast can be picked up by the scanner? How expensive are they to rent?
  12. We are thinking of getting tickets to a nearby Sprint Cup race and would like to rent a scanner. I've heard that the drivers, crew, etc can use offensive language which is something I don't want to subject my son to. Is there an ability to just tune in to some sort of radio broadcast of the race?
  13. When I was little I thought everyone had a hand at the bottom of their stomach. When it got too heavy with food it would just push it out and that's why you would throw up. My sister believed that until your nail polish dried, if you tipped your fingers it would roll off.
  14. I bought a small unfinished pine nightstand from IKEA (this one:) http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50219609/ which needs to be assembled. #1) Should I assemble it BEFORE I stain it or stain the pieces seperately? #2) I have no idea how to proceed. I bought a can of Minwax PolyShades (stain & polyurethane in 1 step). The girl at Home Depot told me to wipe down the unfinished wood first with mineral spirits, but that didn't sound right to me for some reason. She also told me to use 220 sandpaper after the first coat. But then I read online that you should use a pre-stain wood conditioner first to help the stain go on smoother. Do you have any tips or thoughts about this? I don't necessarily need a "perfect" look, I just want it to look decent without too much trouble.
  15. I don't know if this is a factor, but we have noticed that sometimes dancers who have the same teacher for awhile get used to their style and their combinations, which are often the same or very similar for each class. Then when they have a different teacher for class (or at a summer intensive or a master class), they struggle a bit. I wonder if doing memory exercises at home would help, especially sequence memory.

    Drop Box??

My favorite thing about Dropbox is its cell phone app. All the photos and video I take with my cell phone automatically upload to my Dropbox. Then I go to the Dropbox on my computer and drag the pictures into my Photo albums. So easy.
  17. I recently read that it is the over-the-counter nasal sprays that can have a "rebound" effect and shouldn't be used for more than a few days, but prescription nasal sprays can be used for an extended period without trouble. I believe the two are completely different medicines.
  18. Dd had her last visit at 19. It was a sad parting. She loved and trusted her doctor.
  19. Walmart sent me an order confirmation email but I didn't order anything! It was for two items - a $3 item that was to be delivered to me, and a $40 cell phone card that was to be sent via email. I also received an email saying that my account was successfully updated, which I didn't do. I tried to gain access to my account but it wouldn't let me in. Apparently someone changed the email address associated with the account so now I can't get in. I called my bank immediately and put a hold on the debit card used. Called Walmart this morning and they said the order was placed but was later canceled. I don't know if that was because of my quick action putting a hold on my card or if the thief canceled it. Walmart wouldn't tell me what the email address was changed to. They just canceled my whole account and they're all done. I don't think they are even investigating, which they could easily do since someone had to give an email address to get the cell phone e-card. I know it's not a lot of money and the order was canceled, but still. Can't figure out how someone got my email address and password. This is so frustrating.
  20. We're thinking of taking a late spring/early summer trip where we can enjoy warm weather and the beach. We've been to Hilton Head Island and stayed oceanfront and might do that again, but Myrtle Beach caught my eye. Which would you choose and why? :)
  21. My dd has long thick curly hair. She uses Infusium 23 Frizz Controler shampoo and conditioner. They have other formulas for other hair types, but she finds this one takes out the frizz without taking out the curl. It's a little hard to find in the Frizz Controler formula. Target used to sell it but now I have a hard time finding the Frizz Controler formula there. I've seen it in Walmart and I've even ordered it online.
