  1. My Kenmore washer and dryer are both over 25 years old, but I think that is pretty unusual.
  2. My home went from a chaotic mess to being fairly organized. Regarding housework, I've tried everything - apps, FlyLady, and read lots of home management books - and still couldn't find the control I needed and could stick too, which was frustrating because so many others had found success using them. I finally found a schedule that works for me and I stick to that. Each day I clean 1 area of my house (Monday is 1st floor bathroom, Tuesday is for bedrooms, etc.) so I know that by the end of the week the whole house has been cleaned. (Of course there's the daily clutter control.) Three da
  3. Love reading all these! My sister and I always experience coincidences. We call it "twinning" even though we aren't twins, in fact we're nearly 15 years apart. For instance, she called me last week to tell me she was making Italian Wedding Soup that she hasn't had in 25 years. Guess what I was doing? I was in the market shopping for the ingredients for Italian Wedding Soup that I hadn't had in years and have never made before. Things like this happen to us all the time.
  4. We had a cc debt of about $15,000 and the monthly interest charge was killing us. After making payments a couple years and the balance barely budging, we went to our bank and took out a loan with a MUCH lower interest rate and paid off the credit card. The bank loan was to be completely paid off in 4 years, but after the 3rd year we were able to pay the remaining balance all at once. That loan saved us!
  5. I had one a couple years ago and it was SO EASY!!!! They gave me something to relax me, I felt NOTHING and don't remember the procedure. I do remember being pampered by the nurses before and after and feeling very comfortable. The hardest part was eating jello and drinking gatorade during the prep the day before, since I don't like either. lol I also had clear broth which I did like. Couple of tips: I chose to not eat huge meals the day before my prep day. Not necessarily to lessen my trips to the bathroom, but eating light helped prepare me for a day of not eating solid food. Also
  6. Our favorite is Trader Joe's!! :001_smile:
  7. Counting the days until summer!

  8. Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!

  9. Klean Kanteen!!! We've tried Sigg but it was difficult to clean due to the small opening. Klean Kanteens have a wider opening (I use a baby bottle brush to clean) and I also prefer their stainless steel. We have one for each family member in different colors, sizes and spouts. On the website you can choose your preference for size, color and spout.
  10. My dd liked Mango Languages. Unfortunately it was a little expensive for us to continue with the full course. Here's the website: http://www.mangolanguages.com/main
  11. I have 3 rules during lessons: 1. FOCUS (do not talk about something totally irrelevant to the subject matter right in the middle of the lesson) 2. NO FIDGETING (do not play with things on the table while I'm talking; try to sit still while listening to the lesson) 3. GOOD ATTITUDE (makes all the difference in our school day)
  12. Not a mispronunciation, but a cute story: When my son was six I was telling him about Egypt and that when the pharaohs died they would make them into mummies. The priests would put salt and spices on the body, then they would wrap the body in linen and put them in the pyramid. Later in the day I asked him if he remembered how the Egyptians made mummies and he said, "Well, they use REAL people!! Then they put salt and pepper on them and wrap them in tin foil." Hahaha!! It still makes me laugh out loud.
  13. FYI - I ended up emailing ebay and I got this quick reply: Thank you for writing eBay in regard to selling teacher manuals on eBay. You did the right thing to contact us. We do allow teacher manuals for homeschoolers to be sold on eBay just as long as it is a real book that will ship. We do not allow digital copies since the sale of counterfeit items, including unauthorized copies of media, is illegal. Thank you for being a valuable member of the eBay community. Have a wonderful time shopping and selling on eBay! Sincerely, Kenley eBay Customer Support
  14. My sis and I together clean houses for extra income and we take about 2 to 2.5 hours. We do not charge by the hour but a set fee for each house. The home owners know exactly what to expect each week for the money they pay us. Sometimes we do more than what was originally asked, but we get paid the same amount. For example, we did not initially agree to change bed sheets for one of the homeowners. But now the homeowner asks that we change the sheets each week. It adds a bit of time but we did not ask for more money. Sometimes they ask us to do a couple small extra tasks and we do them wi
  15. I read online that ebay lifted their ban on selling teacher manuals, but I couldn't find anything directly on the ebay website that stated this. Maybe I'll email them and ask to make sure. Anyone have any info on this?
  16. I use Avast and a couple of free spyware removal software, Adaware and Spybot. They all work great!
  17. Dd would like an anatomy course for science (12th grade). I'm trying to figure out our options. I don't think Apologia's course would be what she's looking for since she has already completed BJU Biology and I think it would be too similar. I looked at Teaching Company's DVDs: Understanding the Human Body: An Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology. This looks like something she would be interested in, but how can I make this into a full (or even half) credit course? I don't believe this course comes with a text or tests. Any suggestions?
  18. My dd is taking 5 years to complete high school. Because of the amount of hours she dedicates to classical ballet (including travel time, about 28 hours per week) there is no way she could complete it in 4 years. She'll be 18 when she graduates.
  19. I just started buying frozen veggies. I saute them in olive oil until crisp tender. Add salt and garlic powder. Do not overcook. Sometimes I add a bit of ginger tamari and a few drops of sesame oil.
  20. I lost it one Sunday morning in church service. The pastor meant to say "bubonic plague" and instead said "blue bonnet plague". Apparently the congregation didn't think it was funny but my body was shaking with laughter which I was trying desperately to stifle. This went on for a few minutes and I still couldn't stop, in fact it was getting worse. Then I heard my girlfriend who was sitting behind me moaning while trying to stifle her laughter. That was it. I couldn't hold it in any longer and I started to get louder. My husband told me to leave. I was in the front row! I left and had t
  21. I wouldn't consider it a healthy meal. In our family, a healthy meal would consist of raw and/or lightly steamed veggies and perhaps some protein like baked or grilled chicken (no red meat) or hummus on fresh bread. I use a lot of recipes from Dr. Rau's book "The Swiss Secret to Optimal Health"
  22. I really, really tried to like my Chacos, especially since I read so many great reviews of the shoes - and they were so expensive. I wore them one summer and my feet always hurt. Then I took them to Disney for a week and lost the feeling in my big toe for three months! I ended up wearing FitFlops for our next trip to Disney and they were GREAT!!! I do think Merrills are the most comfortable walking sandle.
