  1. Exactly! I NEVER wanted a shower and actually made that very clear at a friend's shower a few months ago. They said "Oh, you're next!" At that point I said, oh no that's sweet but I don't want a shower. We have everything we need this is our 5th baby.
  2. Unfortunately, no. She told him she was going to overdraw her act and he felt bad. However, he did have a conversation about just how wrong that was and to not ever expect us to do that again! If she couldn't have afforded it, she shouldn't have done it! Duh?! That's what us people on a budget have to do!
  3. :glare::confused: I didn't think so!!! This really happened to me! This is my 5th baby! I did not need or want a baby shower! My sil and mil threw me a surprise shower this past weekend! Would you believe she (sil) called my dh and asked him to deposit $160 into her act to pay for the shower??? I'm so upset!
  4. Great video! I'm going to spend some more time on that site when I get a chance. It looks very helpful.
  5. I was not at all comparing dyslexia to a cancer diagnosis but thanks for the input.
  6. Thanks for this! I have been crying a lot since everything became clear to me! I feel so bad that this will be a struggle for her but at the same time I'm crying because of how thankful I am to find out now and that I can help her. I know things could be far worse and know so many others have a way more challenging situation but it still hurts a mama's heart to know there are struggles ahead for their child. I love what all of you have suggested! Thanks!
  7. I KNOW my dd (7) has dyslexia (pretty sure moderate-severe) and she goes for the official testing next Tuesday. What do you tell your child about the testing/ dyslexia or the challenges he/she may face etc. I KNOW she has this but the only thing my dd has mentioned is that it is hard for her to read. So, what would you tell a 7 yr old? Sorry if this is a silly question. I'm just so new to this.
  8. We have used and LOVED My Father's World K, 1st, Adventures and Exploring Countries and Cultures. This year, I decided to try Heart of Dakota's Bigger Hearts for His Glory for my oldest two b/c MFW Creation to the Greeks seemed like it would be a little over their heads. We are in our 4th week of HOD and absolutely LOVE it! I'm not sure if we will ever switch back to MFW. HOD is so complete and the progression of skills throughout the guides are really impressive! The kids have LOVED everything we have read and done so far! :001_smile:
  9. We are in Charleston too! We will probably stay. We have hurricane shutters and a generator. I was here for Hugo also. When Floyd was supposedly coming, we tried to evacuate and it was a nightmare! Don't think I want to do that again. However, we do not live downtown. Our decision could be different if we did.
  10. I know this really isn't a huge deal but I'm super annoyed right now! My MIL, who is not very supportive of us homeschooling, just got upset with me b/c I will not let my dd go on a Friday to Charlotte! If she was in "normal school", I couldn't take her out during her second week just to go to Charlotte! We are only doing 3 wks in Aug. b/c we are going on vacation and my husband is out of town with our oldest this wk. I'm having a baby in Nov. and wanted to stay somewhat on task so I can feel free to take time off when Hosanna gets here! She doesn't support homeschooling and makes many negative comments (we easily ignore them) but then thinks just b/c we homeschool she can take them whenever and gets upset if I'm not okay with that! Whew! I feel better! Glad I got that off my chest!:001_smile: Thanks for letting me vent!
  11. We never purchased Delta and finished Gamma in April. It would be too easy for each child to click with the same math program.;) I forgot about using their website for extra problems!
  12. I guess. mUS does a full year of addition (1st), a full year of subtraction (2nd), a full year of mult. (3rd), next would have been a full year of division. Etc. We finished Gamma back in April and I have not really reviewed add/sub. I went through what we had not covered (money, graphs, some division etc.) so he could be ready for MM 4 but had not done add/sub drills. Maybe that should be the first step huh? Review review review. Drill drill drill. Then move on from there.
  13. We didn't use MM for 3rd we used Gamma from MUS. That's why I was thinking to maybe go back to MM 3 for review. We spent part of the summer going through some of the blue series but not addition or subtraction. IDK. I accidentally posted on the other board and someone suggested to review and drill for several wks then stick with MUS until pre-algebra. By then, the switch to any other program would be easier.
  14. Thank you! Would you suggest buying delta since that was the format he was used to and add in the review and drill?
  15. So, my ds has always had an easy time with math. We used MUS for Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. My dd was having difficulty with MUS and found MM which was an answer to prayer for her! B/c of the cost, I switched ds to MM so we wouldn't have to pay for another math program. Well, last week we started 4a and it has review of addition and subtraction and my ds was LOST! He forgot how to add and carry! And on the subtraction review he forgot how to borrow! Now, I'm wondering if I should go back to 3 or switch to something that is not mastery? Any thoughts, advice, or help appreciated!:001_smile:

  17. This is what I would do. I would probably even bring the bottom bunk mattress into my room since it will be 10 days.
