  1. Mine is up and I did it a little differently this week. There are pictures and a list of odd things we learned rather than a full summary. Here is a direct link. http://daisy-lesserroadacademy.blogspot.com/2008/02/odds-ends-we-learned-in-wk-22.html
  2. Yes, we love our library. It was closed down due to vandelism for almost 3 months. It about drove us nuts to have to drive downtown to the main branch. I love our librarian and how friendly our smaller, local library is. We go every week at least once. Our library system is on-line which makes keeping track of renewals, due dates and placing holds really easy.
  3. My son loved them! I bought about 3 years worth and kept them for a super long time. I know he enjoyed looking at them over and over again. They hold up well, too. I donated them to our local church preschool when we were done with them.
  4. My cats like any piece of paper they can lay on especially if it has anything to do with what I'm trying to write on!!
  5. Yeh, I got quite a shock when I checked out her site.
  6. I think this just may be your group. The group I'm part of is very well-organized. Otherwise, I wouldn't go. Most of the homeschoolers I know are more organized. They kinda have to be or school would never get done. They'd be heading to the store for one more thing they needed all day long. I am a huge type A personality and see most folks as less organized then myself. Maybe that is you also??? My Dh says NO ONE is as organized as I am. LOL.
  7. I'm amazed that his grandparents care where he goes to school. I thought grandparents were cold milk and warm cookies, hugs and kisses? My grandparents could have cared less what I did with my life. Grandparents should be the ultimate in unconditional love, in my not so humble opinion. :( Well, at least you'll know how to do it differently when it is your turn.
  8. I think this is it... Setting Site Feed Allow blog feeds (you can choose full or short) Try that and see if it works.
  9. So we have two WW threads going on. I think the other one is from last week. I'm getting confused. I'll survive. :D Mine is up. My husband's scientific abilities await you.
  10. My Hubby's incredible scientific abilities. :D
  11. Tags can be fun. I just was getting so many of them. Basically, it is just a means of getting folks interacting with each other in blogosphere. I'm not doing well communicating today.
  12. Yeh, I know the bean dip thing. Sometimes though I want to take that bean dip and....well, you know. And yes, it would be nice if I could make boxed mac & cheese for a quick lunch every now and then. I do try to stay away from processed foods but every now and then wouldn't kill us.
  13. Someone tags your blog and basically you get to blog on the topic/questions asked of you and then you are supposed to tag 5 (or however many) other folks. The latest book tag was kinda cool.
  14. AAAAAHHHH, Run AWAY!! I actually posted this on my blog in hopes of lessening the frequency of said tags. Really its just because I can find plenty of things to yap about without someone "tagging" me with a topic. I also tend to despise self-reflecting type monologues.
  15. I started reading it but I've got to cook dinner. I may have to print it off and mull over it a while. Initial reaction is that I agree with SOME of what he says, but can already tell that I'm going to chuck much of what he is saying out the window because his bias is already shining through. But maybe I'm reading into it. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since I haven't gotten through it all yet. I'm also not a die-hard classical educator so anything I "get" out of the ariticle will have to be evaluated in that light.
  16. We don't pay for chores. They receive allowance which can be taken away for bad behavior (we have the allowance set up in quarters). They get half their age. So the 6yo gets $3 and the 8yo gets $4 per week. They have to buy all their own toys, icees, etc. (except for holidays, of course).
  17. You can read about it here... http://triviumacademy.blogspot.com/2007/09/homeschool-weekly-reporters.html
  18. You usually hear of children who are picky eaters and will only eat hot dogs and Kraft Mac & Cheese. I have the opposite probem. Usually it isn't a problem but I think it kinda compounds the whole, "your kids are weird" thing that they already get because they are homeschooled. I have well-adjusted children who simple dislike normal kid foods (they aren't rude about it. They just say no thanks). I tried giving them Kool-aid for the first time today and neither one of them drank it. DD asked for water and DS wanted milk. Sugar and food coloring? What's not to love? They don't eat Kraft Mac & cheese (b/c I've always made it homemade so they think it is salty). They don't eat white bread or rice. They don't eat candy. I literally throw it away (after Holidays) because it sits around. I LOVE this about my kids but sometimes I'm a little embarrassed just because my non-homeschooling friends think my children preferring healthy food is some kind of commentary on their parenting skills. Does that make sense? Anyway, just a mini vent. I don't really know that I can do anything about it. Seems like many of my "friends" who take issue with my homeschooling are willing to jump on anything that makes my kids stand out from the crowd. Grrr.
  19. Well, I'm one who actually feels more comfortable with this format. I'm used to this from other forums so I'm posting more often.
  20. They tried to put me out to have mine removed but they had trouble with that (I don't ever do well with being put out) so they wound up using gas (which I also reacted to). Anyway, my point is that I managed to have all 4 impacted wisdom teeth taken out, WHILE awake, by an oral surgeon. So if you feel strongly about it, maybe discuss it with the oral surgeon.
  21. Wow! I was stressed for a minute. I don't even have my picture picked out yet. LOL.
  22. I left a comment but then realized you could probably just tell me here if you want. My 5yo saw your pictures and wants this cake for HIS birthday NEXT week. Can you give me some tips on how you did it? The one that survived, not the shipwreck. :D
  23. We don't have any debt other than our mortgage. So it would either go towards 1. Summer savings (we get no paycheck during the summer months) 2. Longterm savings (our emergency fund) 3. A plan trip to AL to see my parents and brand new niece (haven't been home in 3+ years so this is looking really tempting.
