  1. I would report it to local police. Sounds crazy and I wouldn’t want to have seen it and then hear he did something awful.
  2. I feel down a police union rabbit hole this afternoon and it is ugly. I seriously can’t believe how toxic and harmful they have been allowed to be. They are not your regular labor unions and something seriously needs to happen and very soon.
  3. Did you all see that over 50 Buffalo officers resigned supposedly because two were suspended for knocking the elderly man down? If anyone has ever questioned that we have a big freaking problem, they shouldn’t anymore. I’m seeing now they actually keep their jobs but resigned from the emergency response team. I hope they can be fired.
  4. Yes. It gave me pause at first but only for a moment. We need to stop allowing cops to just watch this stuff happen but do nothing. That feeling for me is even stronger after seeing the horrible NY video of them pushing down the elderly man and then just walking past as he bleeds. Maybe if we start holding them accountable for not stopping their fellow officers from committing crimes things will change.
  5. It’s weird reading this. I didn’t have a test for Covid but I did have an antibody test, which was negative. At the 11 week mark, I also thought I finally was over whatever I had but a week later the cough and chest weirdness was back. Now, it’s off and on. I go in for an actual appointment in two weeks. My antibody test was negative but it sure is something weird.
  6. I wear yoga pants and a t shirt. I don’t have the qualms others do about going braless though. I often do so when out because I hate them. I truly don’t get the big deal. If I did, I would throw on a hoodie of some sort I guess.
  7. I’m honestly really happy to see so many places cut ties with local police forces. Maybe having so much control has played into their feelings of dominance. If that’s cut down, maybe it will help. They truly don’t need to have their hands in everything at the moment. They need to get back to basics first then maybe become a true part of the community again.
  8. Racism doesn’t exist but she sued her college, and won a settlement, due to the racism she experienced?!? 🤯
  9. I think the issue is it’s not just one opinion about this one thing that is different. Her opinion differs (that seems way to tame a description for her) from every single POC that I listen to, admire, and respect. I can’t even judge her for this one opinion because all of her crazy rattles around in my head when I see/hear her.
  10. It doesn’t matter who George Floyd was. What matters is that a cop murdered him. What matters is that it keeps happening and people keep making excuses. It’s sickening.
  11. I have typed and re typed so many things but none are nice and shouldn’t be said here. I’ll just say I, for a long time now, have thought Candace Owens to be a rather awful person.
  12. I’m sad it didn’t show to be helpful against Covid but happy it didn’t show to be deadly like so many have been saying.
  13. We’ve been discussing this in our home too. Cases continue to rise and part of that is increased testing capability and looser restrictions on who can get a test, but deaths are definitely declining as well. It’s interesting for sure, especially with so many places opened back up now.
  14. We are renting an RV and going to a state park just a few hours away in our same state. We decided on the RV so we wouldn’t have to eat out, use public bathrooms, our stay in hotels. We’re renting the RV from a local place that we trust. It’s not the summer we had planned but we’re excited.
  15. I imagine my own race for the characters unless there are descriptions. I actually just realized that this week. I was reading a book and halfway through there was a race related incident with a character. I had imagined he looked like me until then. It’s funny you asked this question because it’s given me pause the past week.
  16. I honestly don’t know. We keep getting told we’re going to have a bad spike but it hasn’t happened. My state has been opened for a month now and things are fine. We do still have new cases everyday (over 500 new ones posted today) but our daily deaths have gone down and our hospitals are doing fine (we have over 40% of our ICU beds and over 80% of our ventilators available). I think most protestors are on the younger side so maybe they’ll be fine. In my state it’s held steady that age is the biggest factor when it comes to Covid. The number of cases isn’t what I’m watching either as I expect those to continue. As long as our hospitals don’t have a bump I think things are ok.
  17. I will say that Starbucks would bother me because it’s all sippy cup lids now. I would take the drink home and put it in my own cup. Drinks with straws that I unwrap don’t bother me but the sippy cup does give me pause.
  18. I don’t understand all the whys behind it, but it truly seems like take out food is extremely low risk. When we were at the beginning of this, a worker at the local Chick fil A ended up getting Covid. We didn’t have a surge of cases from it even though it is just as packed as all the Chick fil A’s. I was honestly worried but nothing came of it. It’s partly why I started feeling more relaxed about getting take out food. I haven’t heard of it being an issue anywhere.
  19. This is local to me and I wasn’t sure if it’s been shared. https://www.wthr.com/article/lilly-touts-first-trial-worldwide-covid-19-treatment
  20. At first, we were worried about it but we get take out about once a week now. We even get sushi now, so definitely not heating it up again at home. I also quit wiping everything down a few weeks ago. We all just make sure we’re washing our hands.
  21. The first time I was ever pulled over, the state trooper made me get out of my car and into the front seat of his cruiser. He made my brother stay in my car. I was 16. My dad was beyond furious but fortunately nothing was done to me. He told me never to pull over again if I was alone or only with kids and I never have. I know as an adult it’s a privilege I have as a white woman and I hate it’s not the same for everyone. It should be.
  22. If everyone starts keeping important papers in their visors, cops will just start shooting African Americans for reaching for their visors. Same with anywhere else you start keeping them. Where they put their hands aren’t why they are being killed and if they change where they put their hands, it still won’t change anything. It’s not African Americans who need to change what they do. I can’t believe that has to be said.
  23. So much looks unprovoked. There are so many videos of police being absolutely awful. I honestly don’t get it. It’s like they can’t help themselves and are non human. I’m not talking about police and rioters either, I’m taking about non violent protesters being chased, sprayed, and knocked around. It’s disgusting and not improving my current opinion of police officers.
  24. I did notice while helping youngest pick out classes that almost every course had an online option for those who can’t or don’t want to attend in person due to Covid. They just have to email someone with their reasons. It did say preference would be given to those with medical reasons but I was happy to see it.
  25. My dc’s university is making dorms single person. Some dorms will actually be apartments the school is renting for the year. Classes will be capped at 50 students. Most large lectures will be online with small in person discussion groups. They also are apparently going to enforce some kind of requirement for passing periods so it looks like students won’t be able to register for back to back courses ( I’m unclear on this one). Everyone on campus has to wear masks unless in room and all dining will be take out. They have a student population of about 50,000, so not tiny but I think they have a solid plan.
