It’s in a cubicle and a good distance from others. I know one thing dh’s office is looking into is raising the height of the cubicles. Everyone, including the CEO, at his company has a cubicle and a few years ago they cut the size down so things were more open. They use conference rooms for privacy. They will probably raise them up again to provide extra protection between people.

My mom eats at her desk. I know the hospital is still getting lots of food donations and hospital staff there seem to eating in groups that they work with. Cafeteria on site is all pre wrapped to go food.

Yes, I think the data is definitely showing masks will make a difference. I really wish at this point it was a federal mandate. It’s not at all required where we live so I’m grateful the university is at least making it an issue.

My college dc and their friends have expressed how happy they are that their university is mandating masks and moving dining to take out. They will still hang out in their small friend groups outside of classes but the restrictions make sense to them.

Avoiding it altogether? I honestly haven’t heard any good ideas yet. Dc’s uni is going to move all dining on campus to take-out to avoid crowds and dh’s company keeps pushing their restart date. They were supposed to have 10% of employees back in office this month but have pushed it to September as of now. He expects it to be pushed again to the first of the year because they can’t figure out all these small details. I’m interested in hearing good ideas as well.
  6. And there is not consensus with everyone. Youngest is insistent she is not someone “with autism” and instead “is autistic”. It’s just who she is and not something she has like cancer. 🤷‍♀️
  7. I’m not sure if this has been shared. It’s a face mask study done in Germany. http://ftp.iza.org/dp13319.pdf
  8. Yesterday, dh and I went to the grocery store. The day before that, dh and ds went to a protest. Tomorrow, we will go visit with my mom (we stay spread apart outdoors). Dh and I also usually go on two walks a day around the neighborhood. We’re testing more so continually have lots of new cases but our deaths have been declining for a while. Most people around here seem back to normal. We were at a state park earlier this week and it was packed and many were from out of state. It was interesting.
  9. I’ve wondered if the issue is weather related, particularly the heat. Places that are struggling have much hotter summers so I wonder if they’re opening up but people are spending time indoors? Here, in the Midwest it gets hot but not like Texas, FL, and Arizona. We’re all spending time outside.
  10. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/06/11/us/missouri-hairstylists-coronavirus-clients-trnd/index.html This is certainly a strong case for wearing masks! None of the hair stylists 140 customers have tested positive for the virus and no cases have been linked to them.
  11. The remains of the two children were found on Vallow’s husband’s property. 😢 He’s been arrested. I think she’s been in jail for a while.
  12. Thirty minutes after my Google review I received an email that he would give me a refund. It's not the full two days but I was happy with it. ETA: I deleted the review as well. I honestly don't wish to harm his business but I wanted him to make it right.
  13. I already told him I would move on to negative reviews if we could not resolve this. All he said was that it was unfortunate. Weirdly enough, I received an automatic email from the company about posting a Google review. I did so. It was factual and I even said how pleasant and helpful they all were in the beginning. I didn't rant and rave. I'm going to post with BBB I guess too. We have a lawyer in the family and we've reached out to them too. It's just so frustrating, especially since he admitted everything that went wrong in the emails.
  14. We used our debit card and they've already told me they can't help with this. It's a local company that has mostly all good reviews, too. I'm floored he doesn't want to make it right. In one of his emails, he explicity says that it, of course, wasn't supposed to leak inside and they found a clog is what caused it. Then, the very next sentence is him stating he will not refund any money. I'm so confused.
  15. We rented an RV at the beginning of the week and it has turned into an awful experience. Everything was fine picking up, driving to camp, and getting setup. The problem came when we turned on the AC (which I specifically, in an email made sure was on this RV). After about 30 minutes it started leaking into the RV. Dh took a video of what quickly turned into a large puddle. We turned the AC off and then a gush came out. We had also paid for wifi that didn't work so we had no service. They claimed we could contact them 24/7 for help but without service, we were unable to. We spent a miserable night there and left the next morning as soon as quiet hours were over and turned in the RV right away. We had originally rented for three days but returned it after one day. The owner is agreeing we had communication service issues and were unable to contact him so will refund the wifi fees. That is all he is willing to do. He admitted they found a clog in the AC and that's why it was leaking. He claimed the agreement I signed says there is no early drop off refund. The agreement does not state anything at all in regards to refunds. The contract does define "rental period" specifically as when I pick up and when I drop off. I'm ticked off because he admits all the issues but just doesn't care. I have never filed complaints before but I will definitely be doing so here. I am only asking he refund the two days we did not use it. I'm not asking for anything in addition, even though the trip ended up being awful. So, who do I complain to and what steps should I take now? I have all of this in emails so it's not just my word against his. Is it ok to share those emails in the complaints? It's his company email, not private.
  16. I wanted to add to this that the past few days youngest, 18, has had hives off and on all over her torso which is something new for her. Back in March oldest, 20, had a weird rash all over his stomach and arms for about two weeks. Youngest doesn’t have any other symptoms but it just adds to the weirdness all four of us have experienced since March.
  17. I’m still back at having a mild cough (weirdly mostly when I laugh now) and the weird tickle in my chest still. Also, my sore throat is back this week. I had one week of feeling normal. Just under two weeks until I see a doctor in person.

  19. My mother is the hardest one for me. She is extremely kind and thinks she isn’t racist at all but she says things here and there that aren’t ok. I try to gently point them out but it never goes over well. Dh grew up one of six kids but he’s the only white kid in the bunch. He grew up seeing his siblings picked on and treated different just because of color of their skin. He also has one brother who was sent off to prison for a small drug offense. It’s ruined his life. Dh started a conversation about race with his employees last week and he said it actually went really well. He thinks it might have opened some eyes of his white employees to hear their coworkers stories. Today, I was about to purchase a couple of books on Amazon but instead looked up a list of black owned bookstores. There were sadly none listed in my area but I was still able to order online. They were more expensive and shipping will take longer but I feel it was worth it and will try to give more of my monetary support to those businesses. I’m just trying to listen more and be more aware.
  20. Don’t you think it would be way more widespread if you could catch it from food? I don’t know how it is where you are, but our drive thrus have stayed crazy busy throughout all of this and most local restaurants have done a lot of take out as well. I mentioned in another thread that a worker at my local Chick fil A tested positive but there was no spread that seemed to happen. And this Chick fil A is just as busy as any other. I just feel like with the amount of people that have continued to eat out we would be seeing much higher cases if food was a culprit. That said, I don’t want to be near anyone singing in an enclosed space. So no church for us for a while yet. Ds did attend a protest last week and I’m keeping my fingers crossed nothing comes of it as most were masked.
  21. I was referring to my state being fine but wasn’t clear. Just curious what’s happening in Arizona since other places have been open longer and aren’t seeing those increases.
  22. I wonder what’s going on in Arizona? We’ve been open more than a month here and things are fine. Also, many places seemed to ditch the idea that ventilators were really helping early on. I know where I am that we have like more than 80% of our ventilators available and only about 4% of Covid patients on one. It seems most places are seeing a decline in severity so it’s interesting.
  23. https://www.wthr.com/article/health-official-no-new-covid-19-cases-missouri-parties-1 Looks like some good news. They are saying they only had the one case of Covid show up from the huge pool party in Missouri over Memorial Day weekend. I think we’re right at the two week mark.
  24. Hell no, it's not! I come from a long line of teachers and their union is nothing like the police union. This whole conversation is insane! Police unions allow cops to kill people. Why would anyone argue against curbing their control?
  25. Donating half our paycheck does absolutely nothing to actually help. We are donating money but there needs to be actual change and that change starts with police unions in my opinion. This is so absolutely frustrating!
