  1. I’m supposed to call and schedule mine on Tuesday per my doctor’s request. It will be an Abbott test so they are supposed to be reliable. I had a sore throat and bad headaches the first week of March. Then half my face was numb for a couple of days and then my cough started. Along with the cough was an uncomfortable “tickle” in my chest. I don’t really know how to describe it but today is the first day that tickle and cough is gone -11 weeks later. Dh also had a cough and his was worse but is gone now. Ds, 20, ended up with a weird two week rash as well after coming home to see us the beginning of March. Youngest has had nothing. I don’t think I had it, dh is for sure I did, and my doctor wants to know before he sees me next month. ETA: Dh also thinks we may have given it to our pets. They were both sick with something and the cat sneezed for a good week. They’re fine now. I do think it’s all weird since we’re never sick but I’ll be super surprised if I test positive.
  2. Dh and I needed to make a quick run to a home improvement store and it was complete craziness. So much traffic and so many people everywhere. I’ll be completely shocked if we don’t have a spike after this holiday weekend. I get wanting to go out but I do wish it was a bit tamer here. I am planning on taking dd to a book store next week but only because this is my 18 year old ASD kiddo who hasn’t really left the house at all and I’m worried this will turn into her being afraid to leave. The book store was the only place she has any interest in going to right now so hopefully it won’t be too crowded. The week after next we’re also planning a quick two night RV camping trip. She truly needs to get out and see it’s ok.
  3. That either the media or Trump are 100% responsible for the distrust and mess surrounding this drug. They are both the problem.
  4. No one is 100% responsible for this. Those who say so, on either side, are ignoring reality.
  5. We’ve been open for several weeks though. The level of restaurant crowds I’m seeing here is our normal rate. That’s why I said people just seemed to hop back to normal quickly where I live. I was one who said repeatedly that even if we opened up, people would be too afraid and I was wrong based on my area.
  6. Oh, I’m sure others are being just as cautious. I also have been shocked at how full all the restaurants have been. One had a line of cars that stretched to the main road for lunch yesterday. One local place is now only serving by reservation and having you place your order in advance because they had so many show up when they first opened. People here do like to eat out though. We always only went out to eat at off times because the waits would be so long. I just didn’t expect it.
  7. I’m in Indiana. My county has had quite a bit of cases and over 100 deaths. We’re also next to Indy, which is hardest hit here but the people where we live just went back to normal pretty fast. My family is staying in though and doing our once a week grocery shopping. We’re just kind of waiting to see what happens with the numbers.
  8. We’re in phase 3 so it’s75% now. I see no stores counting anymore though, only restaurants. Group size gatherings are now up to 100 people allowed. The only things still closed are movie theaters and entertainment/sporting venues. ETA: Oh, and playgrounds are still closed but campgrounds did open this weekend. Bars are also not reopened yet.
  9. I honestly thought the same but, at least where I live, it all looks back to normal. The only difference I see is people in masks at the grocery store. Our malls and restaurants are packed now that they are open. People are waiting in lines. People are having parties for Memorial Day all around us. Colleges here are planning to start back in person early August and be done at Thanksgiving to cut down on travel but they are planning for dorms and everything. I’m completely shocked and I hope it doesn’t end in disaster.
  10. I'm about as anti Trump as they come (and don't for a second feel he's blameless in this mess) but it is ridiculous what's happening with news and media surrounding this med. I know it's just showing how divided we are now politically but I do find it sad that even during a pandemic it has reached these lengths.
  11. I've seen people here discuss the Abbott antibody test several times and I think some have mentioned it is FDA approved. I'm supposed to have it done soon and I looked up the lab. The fact sheet is for the Abbott antibody test but under FAQ's it says not FDA approved but it was given emergency authorization. Is this a different Abbott test or are people saying FDA approved but meaning the emergency approval? I just want to make sure I get one that is considered accurate.
  12. I told dh a few weeks ago she would probably now take a deal because of Covid. I’ll be surprised if they are given anything other than house arrest at this point.
  13. My doctors office called to schedule me for antibody testing but I have no idea yet which test it will be. They said new testing was starting here next week that would be completely outdoors. I schedule, drive up to tent, have blood drawn there, and leave. So, I like that much better than being in an enclosed space in a lab but I also want it to be a reliable test. I guess I’ll figure out which one it is when I schedule and decide what to do then. I wish there weren’t so many of them and so many unreliable ones!
  14. It's just in the middle of our front yard. I'm not trying the kitty litter because it was already really wet here and it is supposed to rain again later. That would just be a mess. I'm hoping the rain will help some. Dh said in the military they just watered the heck out of where ever it happened. We can smell it if we go to the middle and you can kind of tell where it was (grass is darker a bit) but there isn't any puddle or anything really. It's not running off into the street or any water way either, so I'm thinking it's ok as far as that all goes. I'm guessing it will just completely kill the grass but I think it's far enough from our plants that hopefully all of that will be ok.
  15. Yeah, he just told us they think it leaked about 5 gallons! They are finishing up so we can’t do anything yet. Dh did take pictures of it in the yard when they left the first time.
  16. We have someone here today that is burying a cable. It is something that was required by a cable company so we have no control over any of it. They broke their machine and it spilled gas in our yard. I'm pretty sure it's actually still leaking in the yard right now. They have left while someone else is on their way to fix it. What do we need to make sure happens? How should it be handled and cleaned?
  17. The majority of positive cases here are those under 60. Those 60+ are only 30% of positive. The over 60 group is the majority of deaths but those younger have been sick enough here to be tested for sure.
  18. I read today there is no date now for reopening and they canceled ferry service for the summer. So, if they do reopen people have to use their own boat to get there. We stayed in Mackinac last year and really enjoyed it. We’re not big drinkers though and that was pretty much it in the evenings it seemed. We were up early and one place was open for breakfast but it was really good. We also enjoyed our early morning walks watching locals deliver good to the store by horses. Everything we ate was good so I doubt you’ll have any issues there. We stayed at the Pink Pony place which is right on the Main Street. It was nice but if we go again we plan to stay at Mission Point because it was a bit farther from the crowds. We enjoyed all the trails and they weren’t very busy most of the time we were there but the Main Street and stores were usually packed until the ferry was done for the day.
  19. Recently we thought my niece had appendicitis and it turned out to be kidney stones, so I guess those can get confused. I’ve had so many weird pains since peri menopause as well. I had no idea!
  20. https://news.iu.edu/stories/2020/05/iu/releases/18-research-shows-electroceutical-fabric-eliminates-coronaviruses-on-contact.html Possibly a face mask material that will kill the virus? Don’t know if there is anything to it but it’s where my dc go to school so it was in my inbox.
  21. I will say I wish we had figured out a way to flatten the curve but still tackle important elective surgeries better. They completely stopped here until this month. My mom desperately needs surgery and is now in severe pain. At the beginning of this it was tolerable, but it’s awful now. And because of the complete halt there is a crazy backlog of people needing their surgeries so who knows how long it will take. They just keep upping the pain meds which is going to create a whole different problem for some people. I know we didn’t really have time to figure it all out but I do think some of those things are reasons for wanting to get things going again. It’s not just people wanting to eat out and get hair done.
  22. When dh left the Marines, we both said the only place we didn’t want to end up was Florida. We ended up there for 10 years! 😂 We’re now in Indiana and both actually really like it for the most part. Dh does wish there was more snow but it’s more than enough for me. I’m enjoying seeing lightning bugs again every summer.
  23. The vibe I’m getting from my state is that it really isn’t so much about number of cases but rather use of hospitals. We’re just now finally testing more so our numbers are definitely going to keep rising but those getting tested now aren’t all super ill. We started opening back up before we had wide spread testing. We’re having around 400-600 new cases daily right now and 20-50 deaths reported daily. The dates for those numbers seem to be fluctuating quite a bit though. Our hospitals have about 40% of ICU beds available and 80% of our ventilators are available. It actually shows the majority of our ICU beds are occupied with non Covid cases at the moment. So, they don’t seem as concerned about the positive case numbers but seem to be looking more at what’s happening at hospitals. I could be completely wrong though.
  24. Dh has worked from home for a few years and the good thing about everyone doing so now has been they all realize how much more efficient their meetings are now. There have been times he’s in a meeting via phone for over an hour and that same type of meeting now is taking no more than 20-30 minutes. His company has decided to keep working from home for now and said they will have no more than 50% back in the office unless there is a vaccine or effective treatment (and it’s all voluntary going back not forced). They all expect this to lead to more working from home and split schedules because it’s going so well.
