  1. https://twitter.com/jordanuhl/status/1266193926316228609?s=21 This video has been making the rounds on my social media. Maybe that’s what they’re talking about? Not sure how true (as far as time and place) but the person is saying it was Minneapolis police and the video does appear to show one car just randomly spray people for no reason.
  2. I visit my mom weekly and we distance outdoors. I see many friend groups meeting in large parking lots around here and they just bring their own chairs and space themselves. I’ve met many neighbors I didn’t know before when dh and I go on walks and we chat from opposite sides of the street. In none of these instances is anyone wearing a mask since everyone is outdoors and keeping a good distance from each other. My social media friends seem to all be doing the same in other states. I just assumed most had been able to find ways to socialize.
  3. Yeah, I’m confused when I keep seeing Ohio mentioned here like it’s bad there. Ohio is about double the population of us here in Indiana but our numbers are pretty much the same. So, Indiana I guess should be considered doing really awful but we’re already on phase 3 of reopening and people here act like everything is fine.
  4. I was negative. It’s what I expected but dh was surprised.
  5. I honestly don’t get what people are supposed to do because the same thing keeps happening over and over again and justice rarely ever occurs. It seems that African Americans aren’t allowed to protest in any form. I honestly don’t think peaceful protests are going to do anything as they haven’t already. I also need all of the good police, and I do know most are good, to start speaking up often and loud against the bad ones. They need to start demanding action when these things happen because I’m seriously starting to lose all respect.
  6. Most are doing a telehealth first but then scheduling an actual in person appointment if needed. I had a telehealth visit with my gyn last week and am now scheduled for an in person visit next month. The telehealth visit made me feel better at least.
  7. I liked my 20s and wouldn’t change anything there. If I could, I would change a few things about my 30s but nothing too major. I don’t regret marrying and having kids young nor do I regret staying home for the past 20 years.
  8. I had my antibody test today. I have horrible veins but this place was good and got me on the first try. I have no idea how long it will take but I will let everyone know.
  9. Yeah, I think this is where my dc are lucking out as far as class size. Oldest is a double major in English and Psychology. His Psych classes may be online due to size but his English Lit and Creative Writing courses are all usually less than 20 students. Youngest is an art major and her two scheduled art courses are also less than 20 students. I suspect dd's gen ed classes to all be online - her science course already states it will be.
  10. I can’t go by county because I live just a few streets from the border of the county with our largest numbers. My county has about 1100 total cases but the one right next to me is at about 9400. We pretty much just go to the store once a week and occasionally go to a home improvement place. I do plan to go to a local bookstore tomorrow. Youngest wants to go so we’ll mask up and do it. I also do visit with my mom once a week. We all sit outside with plenty of distance between us. That visit really helps us all.
  11. My dc's uni announced their plans today. I'm a little confused on the winter part but it sounds like they will start at normal time (end of August) and go home at Thanksgiving. I think the rest of fall is online and then the beginning of spring will also be online. In person classes will resume in February and be done beginning of May. No breaks at all, including no spring break. They also plan to have dorms all be single occupancy unless a specific roommate is requested. There are already space issues so I have no idea how they plan on doing this. The after Thanksgiving to February part is still a bit unclear to me though because it sounded like some campuses or professors might just decide to end at Thanksgiving and not start spring until February.
  12. We had ds apply for a Capital One student card (can’t remember exact name) and he was instantly approved with no credit history. The limit started really low, around $300, but was able to be raised after a few months of using and paying it off.
  13. I don’t know why people can’t just accept others can make different decisions from them. Me not using grocery delivery is still me thinking of others even if you don’t feel the same. I said repeatedly it was an individual thing but people keep trying to say what the “right” thing to do is even if there is no one right way to do things. It’s stuff like this that gets annoying real fast.
  14. I’m not high risk but the person shopping for me might be, but they may be doing it because they need the money. That feels icky. We probably won’t agree on this and that’s fine as it’s so individual. I have no reason not to shop for myself and just don’t feel right asking others to take that risk for me anymore.
  15. It doesn’t help them with resources but it helps me feel like I’m not taking advantage of people. It’s totally an individual thing but I started feeling guilty after deliveries so I stopped.
  16. We had groceries delivered the first several weeks but after the employees started complaining about a lack of resources I didn’t feel right about it for ourselves anymore. So, we shop once a week and wear a mask. I’ve found that if I shop Tue-Thur before noon that it isn’t very crowded and that crowd usually all wear masks. I only go to one store and make do with what they have.
  17. I’ve already posted that things where I live look back to normal. So many people are out and about, packing the stores, and eating in restaurants. I do still see many wearing masks indoors though so hopefully it helps.
  18. Doing a much needed declutter of the house. We have no excuse any more to keep putting it off as there is nothing else to do.
  19. Colleges in my state are planning to have in person classes. They’ve changed the calendars to start early August, have no days off, and be done with the semester by Thanksgiving. Then they’ll reevaluate for January.
  20. Some here that have announced they will be back in person but with a new calendar are requiring them. I haven’t really seen it spelled out exactly what the requirements will be though. I assume for classes and maybe common areas. I’m planning on sending way too many with my dc, especially youngest who will be in a dorm.
  21. Oh, I know it's not the norm. That's why I said it just feels weird here to me right now.
  22. This is another thing that is going to vary on where you live. I can’t believe how “normal” things are here - except for masks. I was just reading how our housing market is doing better right now than at this time last year. A house just sold on my street and was only on the market about a week. On our walks we saw them having many showings. My mom even decided the pandemic was a good time to buy a new car. It just seems so weird to me because I see the news of other places and read the stories here but it’s so normal where I’m at. We did trade our NYC vacation for an RV trip in two weeks but we’re mostly staying in and just hoping it all doesn’t come crashing down.
  23. I saw 4 checkmarks for NY and that’s with a stay at home order for 63 days. Is yours showing different? My state, Indiana, also has 4 checkmarks but has had no stay at home order for 20 days. Someone here stated earlier that Minnesota was reaching ICU capacity but they had a check for ICU beds available. I’m not sure yet if I like the link.
  24. There are irresponsible people everywhere and some who just don’t care. When we went to Menard’s earlier today, we chose that store because they require masks. Several people today wore their masks past the guard but them slipped them off. It made me angry. We chose that store because of the mask policy and those who don’t wish to wear one could have went to either of the two other home improvement stores just down the freaking street.
  25. The different phases are so confusing. Someone being on phase 1 and can apply for phase 2 in June? We started reopening the beginning of May, are already on phase 3 and our governor intends for everything to be back open July 4th! They seem to just be picking stuff at random and hoping for the best. I’m going to mostly stay home and just watch what happens. I have zero desire to eat in a restaurant or be in any enclosed or crowded space for a very long time.
