No food allergies in our household, so they would definitely get eaten here.

AP English Literature (PAH) - Serbicki
Kalypso replied to mirabillis's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
I agree completely with this description. My ds took AP Lang last year with Serbicki through AIM. He got a 5 on the AP exam. He is taking AP Lit with her this year and the class has a similar format. We both like that her discussion board does not take up too much of his time. -
so what would your child's reaction be?
Kalypso replied to Melissa in Australia's topic in The Chat Board
My kids would be disappointed and wouldn't enter that contest again! But, we would laugh about it after feelings of disappointment settled down. -
Congratulations! My ds is planning to apply to NAU. This program looks awesome.

The 'I Hate CollegeBoard' bandwagon....
Kalypso replied to AEC's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
I got my ds17 signed up for 2 exams today. I was beginning to get worried because I wasn't getting a response from our usual school. I'm feeling so much relief. -
We know 1 family with 11 and 2 more with 10. Makes my family of 6 seem so small.

Colleges requiring detailed info about science labs
Kalypso replied to klmama's topic in The College Board
This statement is so spot on. I have 3 kids who have taken high school courses that were AP level and Honors level at Arizona high schools, and NONE of the courses ever completed labs or required lab reports that compared to what some of our online home school courses have required. While it is the Arizona Board of Regents requirement that ASU is following, it does put an additional burden on home schooled students compared to public school students. -
I'm glad to hear it worked out. I would be tempted to cash the check to recover my stop payment fee and then return the balance to them.

Hoping your interview went well!

I'm so sorry for your loss.

All of my kids had their first full time job as lifeguards and swim instructors the summer they were 16. A couple of them also worked 10-12 hours during their Junior and Senior years of high school doing the same job.

My teen daughter keeps getting swollen lymph nodes
Kalypso replied to popmom's topic in The Chat Board
Please at least have her checked by a doctor. Two years ago, my friend's ds9 had swollen lymph nodes in his neck that would get better for a bit and then get worse again. I think this went on for about a year, and he was under a doctor's care during this time. Unfortunately, he had thyroid cancer. Sometimes, it is something serious. -
Online Chemistry Tutor - any recommendations?
Kalypso replied to Kalypso's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
Thanks everyone. This post was from last year. Hopefully, others will benefit from your suggestions. -
Molly at Apple Support called here about 5 times yesterday and 3 times today - so far - to tell me I have a breach on my icloud account. I'm not using an icloud account. It's an irritating recording and a complete scam. I just want her to stop bothering me.

How do your D.C. Prep for ACT?
Kalypso replied to JadeOrchidSong's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
This is what we did to prepare also. -
My ds had the extra science section at the end, too.

My ds just got home. He didn't have much to say about it. They had one 10 min break, and then they had a few minutes before the essay as others were turning in their tests. The second one was a stay in your seat not walk around break. He's glad to be free of thinking about it until the scores are released.

My ds is taking it for the first time. He's a bit anxious, but then again, so am I!

The workbook was assigned, and she was expected to self-check it. I mainly checked to see that my dd was doing it. The quizzes and tests were online. I think they were given 2 tries on the quizzes, and the scores were averaged. We did not have to scan and turn anything in. I did not do the recitation with her. There were no additional assignments that I can remember.
