  1. Thanks for all the replies! It sounds like just reading it to enjoy it will be the best way to start. We can get to the literary analysis in a year or so.
  2. Last year we did The Hobbit as a read aloud together. I am considering having my 12.5 ds read Fellowship of the Ring on his own this year, and use the Novel Ideas from Currclick along with it. I haven't read this and was wondering, is this something he could probably do on his own? Is it better done as a read aloud now, and studied as literature later? We haven't really done any literature study yet, and I was thinking of starting with this as an intro. Any thoughts?
  3. I see Novel Ideas listed on Currickclick for $3.75 for Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Has anyone used these?
  4. bump. Sale ends in a few days and I'm wondering as well. Has anyone used any of the Unit Studies for $1.00, like Rocks and Minerals, Astronomy, etc?
  5. Just wanted to say Thank You to the person who originally posted this!!!! I ordered on the evening of 8/16 and I received them yesterday. They look wonderful!
  6. I have been having the same quandry about which one to order - blue or light blue. When I looked at HSBC site last night, it looked like there were 70+ orders, which would put it at the lowest price (that's what the 1-20 refers to - how many orders there are). Hope this helps.
  7. Thanks folks! This is helpful - I think I will just do the light blue, and then if I need more for the 7th grader, I will order those specific ones later.
  8. I'm really trying to decide on the Homebuyers Coop if I want the just the light blue package, or the all-inclusive package with the gold and green, as well as both blues. It's down to $103.40 now (as low as it will go). Have any of you used the gold/green sheets? Are they necessary? I am wondering if I can use some of them to supplement my 7th grader who will be using Thinkwell, while my 4th grader gets to use the light blue for at least 3 years. I might need to start my 4th grade ds back in 3A or 3B as he really doesn't have times tables down at all. Anyone have any thought or experience with this? Many thanks, Jen
  9. I'm wondering about this, too. I know I want the light blue, but has anyone used the green or gold for upper grades - help with algebra, etc?
  10. Thanks for the suggestions! I just purchased the CD from Rainbow Resources (after getting outbid on a "popular auction site" - thanks for the tip, though:)
  11. Hoping someone can give me guidance here? Ds (12) has finished Zeta (MUS) and we would be going into Pre-Algebra if we were sticking with MUS. But I'm really interested in Thinkwell, and thought I was all set to purchase the Pre-Algebra on Homeschool Buyers Co-op, when I saw that they also have a 7th grade math. I've reviewed the table of contents for both and while there are some differences, it appears to mostly be overlap. Does anyone have experience with these? I found the placement tests for 7th grade math, but didn't see one for Pre-Algebra. I need to order within the next week, so any advice would be so much appreciated.
