  1. Thank you very much. This information is very helpful.
  2. Do your children use it independently or do they require a lot of help from you? What grade levels are you using or have you used?
  3. how easy it would be for my daughter to use on her own. I work full-time and am looking for something she would need minimal help from me on.
  4. I'm the one who can't stand tags. I cut them out of all my clothes. I also have to have my socks perfectly lined up on my feet or it drives me crazy. I also straighten out my shoestrings so they are perfectly straight. However, my daughter (who is now 19) is the one who started talking at 13 months of age (complete sentences at age 18 months) and read at age 4. She is now reading "Greek Thought" just for fun. At the age of 7 she begged to learn multiplication and then when she asked me how to do division I told her it was the opposite of multiplication and she said "ok" and proceeded to do it.
  5. I hadn't even read your post when I posted about my frog trying to jump out of her tank.
  6. I don't think it is ever going to melt and I am sure one of us is going to slip and fall any day now. It is too thick to put icemelt on too. :(
  7. How does one motivate their 19 year old to help out around the house more? :(
  8. When it comes to movies and tv shows. LOL ... that is except the person who likes the old tv shows like Brady Bunch and such. My favorite movie (hard to choose just one) would be either "You've Got Mail" or "Benny and Joon" ... actually it is probably "Music and Lyrics". My favorite tv show was "Sue Thomas F B Eye" ... I also really liked "Doc" with Billy Ray Cyrus. Please don't everyone jump on me at once. :(
  9. I hate silverfish. We had them really bad in an apartment we lived in when my daughter was little. EWWWWW!!!!!
  10. My daughter has decided she possibly wants a career in Equine Science. She doesn't want to be a vet though. What other job opportunities are available in this field and have any of you had any experience preparing someone for this? By the way, she would be able to attend CSU (Colorado State University) at some point in the future (which is supposed to be the best Equine Science school in the U.S.A.). Thanks, Luanne

  12. That is why I wondered. I never had world history in school. I think I read at about a 6th grade level.
  13. For about level 7 or 8. We've been trying to use Saxon, but it just jumps around too much for us. Any suggestions?
  14. I'd much rather sit down and read a non-fiction book to a fiction one. My daughter thinks I am strange that way.
  15. I never knew what I was missing particularly in the history and literature areas. I only had American History in school and World History is SO much more interesting. My daughter had been trying to convince me of that for years. Why didn't I listen? Then again, why doesn't she listen to me either? LOL
  16. I was hoping to just pull something together at home for her.
  17. Unfortunately, it was a day I had to work. I made a lot of mistakes at work that day just because I couldn't get it together in any way. :(
  18. I like to sit down with a candy bar, a bag of chips, and a soda.
  19. It is nice to hear an alternating viewpoint. I would love to be able to buy meat all the time. I am a single mother with only my income from my cashier job at Wal-Mart though, so it just doesn't happen very often that I can afford meat. Maybe some day I will find a wealthy eligible man ... then I can eat meat again LOL.
  20. Like I said ... the online school was not very good at all. She just took a general math course. She has done pre-algebra. I don't think she has even had Life science yet... so basically 6th grade science was her last science class. There were chemistry and biology classes she took with the online school, but she didn't understand them at all and was allowed to use her book to do the tests. Those were the classes she scored lowest in too. She has not taken the ACT or the SAT and I know if she did right now, she would do VERY poorly on either test. She would like to go on to college. She started taking a Wedding Consultant course online and decided that isn't what she wants to do. She was actually thinking something along the line of Geologist, Detective, Photography, and writing books. She has varied interests (as you can probably tell)
  21. Are you all frozen under? I know it's cold here, but isn't it at least warm in your homes? I'm up here in northern Colorado (Fort Collins). I've lived here almost all my life. My daughter (who is now 19) was born here). Hope someone else posts. :)
  22. My daughter is 19 and just officially graduated from a not-so-good, not-so-informative, online school. I just had her do it to say that she graduated because I didn't think she ever would. The situation is that she (and I) wish we had NOT gone that route or at least would have picked a better online school even if it had taken her longer. We also agree that she needs more schooling before she can really do anything else. She hasn't even taken Algebra 1 yet and has had very little science. She knows a lot about World History and reads very well (started when she was 4). I feel like I have short-changed her, but know there is no way to go back in time to fix this. She is very willing to do whatever it takes to redo high school. Is there any way we can do this in 2 years or less? I would like to give her some options so she feels like she has some control over this situation. I hope I am making sense here. Thanks, Luanne :(
