  1. I have a quick question for someone that has the Wordly Wise 3000 4th Edition Level 7 Test Booklet... Please DM me 🙂
  2. You shared this awhile back but I am reading it two years later and I'm grateful. Thanks.
  3. Wow...great post... I concur. I think whatever we choose to do in life, there will be hard, stressful times...because that's life. We have to learn the art of listening to our hearts...knowing when it's the kind of hard that simply comes with living life and hard that is unnecessary and that we have the ability to change or correct given the power that we have as God's creations and the ability he has given us to make choices. A good measurement for me is always what I think that will be important to me when I'm old and gray or on my death bed. I think someone mentioned that idea already on this thread somewhere.
  4. We use Singapore to supplement RS as well. Balancing out the great instruction of Rightstart with the practice and workbook experience of Singpore.
  5. Don't mean to hijack the thread but I am using similar curriculum items as you and have specifically avoided AAS because I didn't want to add "one more teacher intensive thing". Would you mind sharing what your day looks like, when you guys are finishing and ending school, and how you juggle everyone needing you as you are required for so much interaction with the kids. Thanks!
  6. I've been reading many of the dual credit vs. AP class threads and I'm glad for the variety of opinions and experience. I know how to do dual credit. I've done it with one daughter. However, I don't know how AP works or where a homeschooled student would take those classes. Can anyone enlighten me?
  7. We are using WWE 2 & FLL 2. As of right now, my 8yo's completed work is a file folder full of loose pages. We also have some of his compositions hanging out there too. How do you keep your completed language arts organized. Do you put it in an English notebook. There are so many pages from FFL and WWE. Do you keep them at all? Looking forward to your responses!
  8. I bought Snap Circuits after seeing high reviews on Amazon. My son opened up the Snap Circuits Jr. on Christmas day and said "what's this!?!?" He quickly dismissed the gift and moved on to his more exciting toys. A few days later, I reminded him that he had a gift he hasn't played with. He said..."oh yea" and got the box from under the tree. He hasn't put it down since. Definitely a winner!
  9. Thanks for giving me an "AHA" moment! I do have time to read...I just spend that time on the Internet! I'll have to be more purposeful abt using the free "reading time" I currently have.
  10. I have always loved books. Then college happened. I still read but much much slower and rarely for enjoyment. I read for information. Mostly stuff about motherhood, homeschooling, marriage, or general self-help. But I get through all of that very slowly.... I just don't seem to have the time. So, I'm curious...for those of you who seem to maintain a nice clip of reading (as evidenced by recants on previous threads of reading practices, number of books read throughout the year etc)...how do you do it? 11. We went as a family this past August but it was a "Wish Trip". We had a wonderful time but we didn't pay for a thing. It was a trip filled with the "works" and the whole time all I could think was....I'll never be able to do this for my kids again. Of course my children are begging to go back. I'm curious if any of you ladies care to share your budgets for trips like this. I hope that question isn't too personal. I really just want to get a general idea.
  12. What does Bible/Devotions/Quiet Time look like for your younger kids? My boys are 8 and 6. Currently, we read the Bible together in the morning and pray together. I've begun to wonder how to encourage them to have their own personal time with God. I'd love to hear what age you began to encourage your children in this, what age they actually began doing this independently, and what it looks like in your home. Thanks!
  13. Thanks for your encouragement. I guess I should add that because of her current load (4 AP classes) I don't feel nearly prepared for keeping her on an academically advanced track. I know about dual credit and CLEP. I know nothing about AP and how that all interwines with homeschooling in high school. Would love if someone could tutor me on that as well. I'm online researching WTM boards but I've read lots of threads but still not getting the big picture of how I set her up academically. I had a artist the first go round. We got her "through" the academics and spent a lot of time on her skills. It's paid off for her direction in life. Not so sure how to deal with an academically advanced child. Every kiddo is different right! :)
  14. Thanks so much for the information you provided below. I just have a quick question. So AP classes can be taken outside of public high school for $$$? Can you explain a little more about that option?
