  1. OH.My.Cow. I cannot believe someone would have the GALL to say that to another person. Did you know that Francis Schaffers mother is known for her prayer life, that she did in solitude, alone in her house and the only reason anyone knew about it was because her son told people in his sermons. There are women out there who go quietly along in there life glorifying God constantly and reverently and they please God MORE than the woman who is on every committee and at every church function. God is drawn to the humble, not the loud (proud). He loves a quiet spirit, a meek spirit. Col 3:12, James 3:13 If she approaches you (or anyone else) again quote this "Meekness, temperance, against such there is no law." Galations 5:23 Gal 3:12, 1 Tim 6:11 Do not listen to this one. She is instructing to become something that the Lord does not revere. He loves the humble. His gifts He gave to you are ones that you know in your heart. You do not have to be anything that she is suggesting. You are pleasing God by living a quiet life. Memorize Gal 5:23 and this one I Peter 3: 3-5 Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— 4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 5 For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands,
  2. Has anyone installed solar panels on your house? Did you hire someone? About how much did it cost? Did you do it yourself? Do you think it is worth the investment? I hear you can make the meter run backwards and the electric company has to pay you. What do you think my Hive sisters? Is this legit? We are seriously looking into building one for our home. Should we buy a kit online or google it and build it from scratch. There are 1200 of you ladies out there. Help me out, Please!! :D
  3. Hi! We are going to a Colonial Faire and Muster this weekend here in Savannah. It will be at the Wormsloe Historical site. You can google it and go on the website to find out about the property that one of Savannah's original famous people lived. I actually live about 5 minutes from there.

We are going to see a children's production of Annie Friday morning and then we are suppose to start horseback riding lessons that afternoon for both my girls. My ds18 is working at a Feed and Seed store about 25 minutes from our house and said that they just received baby chickens today. We are suppose to go visit a friend sometime Saturday between the Colonial Faire and look at her chicken coops. We live in a suburban neighborhood and our neighbors think we are the crazy people on the block. My son has 2 12x8 boxes filled with organic mix that he is starting an organic garden as soon as our seeds get here.

I hope you are having a great week!

  4. :smilielol5::smilielol5::cheers2: Oh My Cow! Why didn't I think of that!!!! That is my standard answer from now on!
  5. I have been asked the exact questions, different people at different times and what has worked for me has been: Laugh out loud like they just told a joke and then look at them and say "oh wait, I am so sorry, you weren't just kidding were you? You must know nothing about homeschooling, let't go get a coffee and I will fill you in" To date I have corrupted over 7 families into homeschooling. No kidding, 7 and I have a cousin who is praying she will be able to homeschool her 2 yr old when it it time.
  6. ROTFLMHO!!! You sound like me. No I don't like it, wait, yes I do..... I change my mind mid sentence too!!:lol::lol:
  7. I asked for curriculum and ya'll have taught my heart. Thank you so much for your post and those who private messaged me. I am so grateful for this forum to come to for advice and to receive such encouragement. I agree about the unsound church. I just have to accept that the fellowship will not be there anymore and the feeling of having help in guiding my kids. But I forgot that the Bible is all I need. The internet helps too:D
  8. Thank you, I am going to their site immediately. Anyone else have any suggestions?
  9. We are having issues within our church and half the time (I am going to admit it) we don't go. I am soooo filled with guilt and anxiety about this because I know I am not being diligent with my children's education. Is there a Bible curriculum that you love love love that I could use at home that you would suggest? I love the idea of doing DesiringGod but it seems like it is so expensive. Any other ideas or websites? We are so empty it feels like. There are only 2 reformed Baptist churches within 100 miles and the other is 45 miles away and it is going through leadership changes, so I hate to put my kids in a church that is in about as much change and chaos as ours. Not having a believing husband and no leadership except my poor example I am getting so antsy. Any and all prayer is asked for, and so appreciated. Any suggestions will be welcomed and well received. Thank you
  10. Where can I order cheese and dairy for less than 6.00 for 8oz. I can't believe how expensive organic cheese is. Have I already asked this?
  11. THe fee waivers have to come through a school and if you are homeschooled you do not qualify. If any of you got around that let me know. And there are different levels of SAT I have come to believe. I think there are the easy, not so and hard ones. Having 3 seniors take the SATs for 2 years multiple times and the one who did nothing but read Harry Potter for his 11th grade year scored a 1560. He is a reading fanantic but only fantasy and junk. So, what to think? the Harry Potter Series and that dragon series as required reading before the SAT?
  12. :iagree: Until very recently the best libraries were in a part of town that you needed to have a police escort to get to the door and to your car. The front of it was crowded with drug dealers and loiterers. From morning til close. They finally put one on the side of town that people go to the library. In the "hood" the only people in the library were people who didn't live in the area but came because they had the best selection and the hoodlums using the computer for email, facebook, and porn. There were no filters because of the "freedom of speech" clause that is perverted to cover this issue. But that is another post entirely.
  13. -Van Halen band in their tour bus. Not telling you anyting because I was 15 -toured for a short time with David Allen Coe -Took care of Bruce Springsteen after a concert when he had a virus (gave him asprin and cokes) -sat outside hotel room with sax player for Springsteen same night and discussed his kids and Bruce's - had dinner with Walter Cronkite -met Rod Stewart -was on Home Made Simple episode - argued with mulitple Senators and Representatives (does that count?)
  14. I got that so much when I announced I was pregnant with #3. I couldn't believe it. But it really has only been in the last 3 or 4 years that having more kids has been gaining popularity around here.
  15. Hi, can you send that link to me for the beef? It sounds like a lot cheaper than what I found.
  16. My SIL, whom I refer to in rather unladylike terms that I will spare you, for the last 5 years made comments every holiday (because that is when we see her) how my son wanted to go school (this is my teenager who thinks all schools should be closed because the socialization is what is wrong with kids today) really and that he was too scared of me to say so. Hmmm pass the salsa,...as I laugh politely and my ds rolls his eyes. My MIL who was apalled that I wasn't going to put my kids in the elementary school that she put her kids in (they all turned out sssoooo great, BIL on crack, hubby to SIL who thinks my ds secretly wants to go to school, and me ALWAYS on the verge of kicking out dh) NOW sings the praises of homeschooling and wishes SIL would homeschool her son. FIL loves my ds, FIL is a jerk but admits publicly that in my ds's case it was a great choice. Hmmm, see above description of FIL. Most friends that we had (and I say that in past tense) that I see occasionally like to play the "My child is doing this and he has accomplished that and if it weren't for this great school etc.....game. I politely smile and make snide comment "wow, I had heard that school had a 3% success rate and I am sooo thrilled your dc was in it! How proud you must be!" You of course will not be mean like me, and will admire the accomplishments of the little hoodlums and smile sweetly while saying.... "Pass the salsa please and did you hear that a meteorite hit a doctor's office in VA?"
  17. ok, I do not sell this so I am not marketing or selling on this board. 4 or so years ago my dh's triglierides (I sooo misspelled that) were 578. Too high to count his choresterol. My friend in Fla. sells stuff from Market America. She sent him "Lipitrim". and something called OPC-3. My dh's doctor wanted to put him on Lipitor but my Grandmother in law had been on it for a year and she turned yellow and died within a year of being on it. But of course it has "nothing to do with the Lipitor" Yeah Right. anyway within six weeks of the Lipitrim (all natural herbs) and OPC-3 and switching from sweet tea (we are in Savannah) daily and adding a salad every few days with a low fat dressing, his numbers went to 109. that is not a typo. His total choresterol was 189. I am a believer. It is called Lipitrim and OPC-3. We both still take the OPC-3 everyday as it is a blood cleanser. Just a thought.
  18. I don't know where you are but here in Georgia they sell it for $7.00 lb for a quarter cow, which is 100lbs, $6.00lb for half a cow, and $5.00 lb for a whole cow. 50% is ground, 30% is steaks and roasts, and 20% stew beefs stuff. That is the cheapest which put me in sticker shock. I can't locate an organic chicken farm yet or anyone who sells organic cheese for less than $10 a pound which I cannot afford. I have had to put my just turned 10 yr old on a strict organic diet and the poor thing is eating peanut butter sandwhichs every day plus some eggs. I just went to Fresh Market which is the closest thing Savannah has to a Whole Foods (which is ridiculous with the amount of organic lovers here) and spent 60$ on lettuce, potatoes, carrots, milk and bananas, 1 greek yogurt for me. Highway robbery. If anyone has any links to cheaper dairy and meat please let me know.
