  1. NBC doesn't care that we have to watch all the trash that so many of their commercials have to offer. So many times, tv ads include the nastiest joke, or nastiest part of the episode they are airing. So much so, that it makes you cringe when your children are in the room. Then we have NBC refuse a commercial that tastefully makes such a valid point. No one at NBC seems to care about that. Free speech protects the garbage, but rarely protects virtue.
  2. Yes, I'd also like to 2nd the Louie Giglio presentation, entitled How Great Is Our God. You can buy the dvd, or you can go to YouTube and watch it there. There are 5 parts, to the You Tube presentation. I would encourage any of you to take the time to watch it. It's just amazing. I can't speak highly enough of it. You'll be wanting your kids, friends, etc to see it. And, make sure you watch it all, there is an amazing ending to it. I just can't recommend this enough. It is well, life changing. Go to You Tube, search How Great Is Our God, Giglio, and then watch part 1,2,3,4,5. You won't regret it!
  3. You've gotta take them with food! It makes me nauseus everytime, if I take them on an empty stomach. Take it with food, and I bet you won't feel nauseus AT ALL!!! Don't throw them out, give it a try!!
  4. I've been reading Christy aloud to my older kids, and man, nearly every other chapter has me bawling. This is one of my all time favorite books, and we're not even done with it yet. It's one I really don't want to end. My boys just don't get why I would cry. It's just a book. That statement normally is followed by a long lecture of some sort or another. Something like: Do either of you kids have any heart in there at all?!?!
  5. No, it isn't...Sorry I didn't see this sooner!

  6. It was on the news last night. They said it goes into effect on 2-10-09. It is ridiculous. Here is the link. I need to write some letters. http://www.kvue.com/news/top/stories/010609kvue-kids_lead-me.466a87af.html
  7. People that I know that have lost 100 pounds and more, usually have excess skin etc. Do you think the show provides surgery, to remove that skin, or do you think none of them have that problem? I mean, they were even wearing sleeveless shirts/dresses, and there arms showed no sign of excess skin or flab. What do you think? How long do they stay home between the last taped show, and the season finale? I heard that this all started in May for them, and then the finale was last night, but I wonder how long they are on there own? I really like the show!! I was also thrilled for Michelle!!!
  8. The Finish Line is sold out in all sizes. The other ones are the Mammoth kind, and I'm looking for the Beach ones. (The ones without the fluffy insert.) Unless, you could remove the insert, and they still said Texans. Then, I'd order the Mammoth's anyway. But, I don't know if they'd still be Texans Crocs, or if they'd be plain blue, under the removable insert. Thanks for your help so far, and if anyone else knows anything, please let me know!!! Thanks
  9. I was going to try to get a local store to sell to me via phone/credit card order..... Thanks!
  10. I'm wondering if any of you in Houston, know where I can find Houston Texans Beach Crocs? I've searched and searched online, and everyone seems to be sold out!! If anyone knows of a local store that sells them, I'd sure love to know it!!! Is anyone here able to help me?! Thanks!
  11. I need a: bulb thermometer (It must be able to read room temperature and slightly higher, and it must have a bulb at the end.) Where would I find a thermometer like this? Thanks
  12. My kids got Ipods, and we only have one computer. I want all my songs from ITunes on my Ipod, and they only want some of my songs. What is a simple way to manage this? I wish I could "sign into" Itunes, and see mine, and then my son could sign into his account and so on. Have any of you found any secrets on how to do this? If we log on to our computer separately, I mean like logging on to Windows, you know when your computer first signs up, do you think Itunes would stay the way each of us wants it, when we are signed in as ourselves? I need something straightforward and easy, and I just haven't found it. I'm regretting allowing the kids to have them. Anyone know anything?! Thanks!
  13. I'd be your friend, if I knew how to do that!!! :0)

  14. So, where did I see the red ones?!?! Maybe they were the kids version?!?! Ok, here's my second question, if my son wears 9 1/2 mens size should I go with the Mens 8/9's or the Mens 10/11's... Decisions!!!
  15. I just found that Crocs has an online site, where they sell shoes, and they have Crocs, in NFL teams. I was gonna get some for my son, in his team. (Houston Texans). Here's the thing, the Houston Texans Crocs are Red with a blue strap, and with their team logo on the strap. So, would it be weird for a 13 yr old boy to wear red crocs? I think of red crocs as being for girls. If one looks closely they'd see the Texans logo, but anyway, what do y'all think? Thanks
  16. In the future, should this happen again----Use super glue. I yanked off my thumbnail below the quick--it was gonna be bad, if I yanked it off, so I put superglue all over the nail. It glued the nail back on (and together), and it quit hurting, and just grew off like normal. I was thrilled to learn this trick, and hope it helps someone.
  17. Can I buy just the net enclosure for my trampoline? My trampoline is in good shape, but I really need to replace the net. Oh yes, and not spend a ton of money? Have you ever replaced yours? What did you pay, and where did you get it? Thanks!
  18. I started my dd in school too early. She has a September bday, and I just went ahead and started her when she was still 4 years old. I really thought she was ready, but now, I am now realizing we should slow down. So, we are repeating 2nd grade, just to give her a little chance to mature. She did Abeka 2 Math last year, and she did fine, it's just that it never "came easy." So, we don't want to re use the exact same Math program. I'm looking for a suggestion of a Math curriculum, I guess that is similar to Abeka. I like the way Abeka is so easty to use. I also need it to be fairly cheap. I want something where I wouldn't have to buy the teacher's manual, as I'm pretty confident with my second grade math skills!! Any ideas?
  19. Anyone here read "Do Hard Things: A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations"? Any reviews? Thanks
  20. I have never done this, and I have some caps that really need to be cleaned (or thrown out). If you have washed them in the dishwasher, do you use any soap? What kind? Anyway, I'd really appreciate knowing any way you've washed caps that worked well!
  21. I thought these bulbs were supposed to last a LONG time, and mine went out within several months. I'm disgusted that I paid for these, if they're not going to last any longer than this. Yes, it has a warranty, but I'm supposed to mail it in, with an original receipt. I didn't save the stupid receipt. Argh. Are these lights not allowed to hang upside down? Could this be why it went out early?
  22. I totally agree. Am I the only one who reads this thread about slavery and thinks of abortion? I mean, people that argue for abortion rights, say we can't legislate morality. It's not our business, it's a woman's choice. Why wasn't slavery just their business? Their choice. Slavery's victims were people. Abortion's victims are people. Why can't people see that it's so similar?
  23. I don't think that would make much difference, it is such a large rug. I will certainly have to give that a try, though. Any other ideas out there??
  24. What can I do? It's a fairly new rug. I've tucked it underneath itself, and left the couch sitting on it all weekend. It still sticks up. Just in that one stinkin' corner. Any ideas? Thanks
  25. When my children express feelings like that (I don't want to grow up, or ever move away) I explain to them that we don't want what we are not ready for. Does an infant long to take a gymnastics course? Does a toddler dream of becoming a CPA? Just like right now, he doesn't want to eat baby food anymore, or drink bottles or nurse...., and at one time, that was perfect for him, and he actually liked it. Just the same, he can't possibly know what he will want down the road. We change as we grow.... What he can have control over is being content today. Try thinking of all the things we can be thankful for. And then get an ice cream cone, and move on. I think dwelling on worry or sadness breeds worry and sadness. IF this is something that is reoccurring, or he is just generally a sad child overall, and it isn't something you think he can shake, then I would call a pediatrician. Hope that helps!
