  1. I realized after I posted that I didn't "get it" from the video because I couldn't understand the lyrics. Maybe if I listened to it over and over, I might pick it up -- but one or two tries didn't do it. And this was *after* I read the post that said what the words in the chorus were! I'm still laughing about "The ants are my friends, they're blowin' in the wind . . ." 'cause that's about the kind if thing I'd probably come up with myself -- and be surprised no one else knew the "real" words.
  2. The back ones that have gone bad I had pulled and never noticed -- wisdom teeth and the like. A few years ago, though, I had a problem with one "in the middle" and before I could blink, the dentist pulled it -- no discussion. I didn't think much about it at the time -- and there's no money here for bridges and goodies like that anyway. Fast forward a couple of years and the one above it is lowered a bit, but that doesn't bother me. Gotta be careful eating "sharp" things, though. :D I wouldn't do anything differently, though, and definitely wouldn't get an implant. It's just too expensive.
  3. Me either, and I listened to the video! Ignorance is bliss.
  4. I've had eggs turn green before, but I can't remember why -- garlic? What was in the quiche?
  5. You should have given me a holler. I was still up, too. :D I think it's just a matter of getting enough sleep -- and personally I don't do that when I stay up all night, but I don't do that when I get up early in the morning, either. If I go to bed by 10:00 p.m., I'm up at 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. and can't go back to sleep. It's hard to stick to a bedtime/getting up schedule when you're a vampire in this world! I've always preferred to sleep during the day time. My 9:00 to 5:00 bosses didn't appreciate that much.
  6. That's awesome! Congrads to both of you! :hurray:
  7. I'm glad I made this post because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to remember when I bought these bulbs. Fortunately, my Sweetie was home early for the holiday, took the light fixture down to check the wiring, and everything was fine. After that first few hours, there was no more flickering anyway -- maybe they just needed to "warm up" or "break in" ? -- but we wanted to check and make sure everything was okay. Well, of the three bulbs I bought, one of them is already burned out. I'm feeling "green" today, yup.
  8. Mine too! Don't really like it -- it's too sweet -- but my guys never had my mom's Sloppy Joe's so they don't know what they're missing. I have no clue how she made them -- and I will never ask -- but they were awesome.
  9. I *think* they've found that you can get the same benefits -- cardio and the like -- from walking without the high impact. I know I like to run, though I can't do it for very long, but my bones do not appreciate it at all. I expected to "feel" it in my knees, but my ankles had problems with it, too. Just walk really, really fast.
  10. Yes -- that's my understanding, too, that the second one is almost ready for the printers. But doesn't it take at least a year for the book to actually be published and available for sale? For me, this is no big deal. I just got the first book a couple of weeks ago and I probably won't be finished with it before the next one comes out. As far as using them for high school? Well, I *do* joke that my son is on the five year plan, but I really hope he isn't still doing high school when the fourth book is finished!
  11. I'm curious about this, too. I thought The History of the Ancient World was part of the "adult series" -- and the rest of it hasn't been written yet?
  12. Well, in a few years, you might be lucky if she talks to you at all, so enjoy! Besides, "she's a kid, it's her job."
  13. I really just wouldn't worry about it. If you look at pictures of most kids from the time they're babies to adulthood, there are a *lot* of changes. Both of my kids were really skinny. I used to make my daughters clothes and had a hard time figuring out what size patterns to buy -- she was tall for her age, and skinny as a rail, which only made it look worse. When I asked the clerk at the fabric store what to do, she just looked at her and said, "Well, feeding her would be a good start." That was helpful. My son looked like the next great linebacker when he was little, to the point that he wasn't even on the growth charts, he was so big. When I asked his Filipino pediatrician if he was okay, he just looked up at me (yes, he was a little, short guy) and said, "You no lightweight yourself!" Now, he's over 6'6" and if he turns sideways, you can hardly tell he's even there, he's so skinny. But eating is not a problem -- keeping food in the house is a problem! Really, I just wouldn't worry about it. If the doctor doesn't think intervention is required, it probably isn't. I know this doesn't make you feel better, but I'd suggest finding something else to worry about. There's *got* to be something! Good luck! :001_smile:
  14. After looking for a nice purse like you describe for several months -- unsuccessfully, I might add -- I came across this a few weeks ago. Yes, it's my handbag. Yes, it's quite a conversation starter. And yes, I *love* it. And yes, I am not very fashionable.
  15. Thank you for the update! That is great news! I'm still amazed at the way they handled this -- I hope they pass it on! It would sure eliminate *many* needless lawsuits! So many people don't want to go two out of three falls -- they just want what's wrong fixed or to be given information they should be entitled to. I'm so glad it went well and I hope you're feeling better *very* soon! :001_smile:
  16. I watched that trial, also, though I'm still trying to figure out how I was able to. Have to get that time line out and try to figure out why I was at home. Yes -- this is good news. 'Bout time, too.
  17. It will work with any search engine -- Ask.com, Google, Yahoo! -- but you need a distinctive phrase to work with. Put it in quotes and see what you find. Hint: "he spat on the floor" won't work. Seems lots of folks do this. :D
  18. :iagree: Yeah -- lots of ifs: "if asthma wasn't and issue" and "if the sitter was a little older" or "if she had more experience" -- I tend to kind of roll with the punches, but in this situation? Even I would stay home.
  19. That's what I'm wondering. One of the last big "blows" here was because of remarks in the social groups. That's the only reason I can think of -- perhaps the defensiveness is from comments that are "leaking" over to here. I have not seen one. single. poster suggest that people who put their kids in public school are homeschool "failures" and neither have I seen one. single. poster suggest that they did that because homeschooling, in general, is the road to academic disaster! Frankly, I don't know of any "homeschool failures" here. I've read a lot of people questioning and struggling -- is that considered failure? If so, it's no wonder I don't get it. I do know one family that I consider to be failing in their efforts to homeschool -- but they don't post here -- and that's only because they *don't* do anything. They pulled their kids from PS, made a stab at it for a few months, and quit. So the kids are home doing absolutely nothing. That's not homeschooling or unschooling or public schooling -- that's *no* schooling.
  20. Just please know, we are not laughing at you, but with you. Thanks for the chuckle.   :smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:
  21. That's what we have. I have to change it once a week. Last week, after going through our tenth coffee pot in about five years -- even though I clean(ed) them regularly -- I got a Brita pitcher, too. I've thought about posting what we've found in that thing so far -- it's quite a wake-up call on what the other filter is *not* catching! I don't know if we have clay or iron -- it's red and looks like clay to me, but the locals (I've only been here ten years, I don't qualify as a "local" yet and probably never will) insist it's iron. It just comes right off, though -- it's not hard to remove from the sink, shower or toilet, so I must have something different than the OP. As far as the whites go, I was using bleach and it wasn't doing a thing. I just threw out my rags the other day because they were so nasty looking, I didn't even want to use them to clean the floor. Another lady turned me on to ammonia and that seems to be working. But I let everything soak now, too, sometimes overnight. But -- so far -- my whites seem to actually be white. Or maybe they just look better than the old stuff 'cause they haven't had time to catch up yet. :D
  22. I saw The Dead Zone a dozen times! No skating on *our* pond! :D
  23. That's it. I'm now totally grossed out and . . . :leaving: Besides, other than the nasty foods, I have no idea what you people are talking about. Am I the only one who feels like the grandfather in Moonstruck? "I'm so confused!"
  24. The Kid is on Runescape. I checked it out before he signed up. At that time, they had an FAQ for parents and I signed up and played it myself for a week or two before I gave the "okay." It's just like any other site where you're interacting with people -- there are good ones and there are bad ones -- but from what he's told me, there are a *lot* of scammers there. The site creators have made a lot of changes in the recent past to try to make it less profitable, but they haven't gone away, so I guess they haven't been completely successful. The game itself, I have no problems with. My son had his account hijacked just a month or two ago and it took us awhile to figure out what had happened. Turns out, he fell for one of the oldest tricks in the book and basically gave someone his password! Just another example of how telling them over. and over. and over. and over doesn't do a thing. But now that he's been "had" I'll bet he doesn't fall for *that* one again. Other than having to be "on guard" the chat is censored -- and sometimes so much so that you can't even figure out what someone is trying to say! It's definitely been a learning experience for my son. I don't know that I would have let him play it at eleven, but only you will know how "savvy" your son is. Good luck!
