  1. I just saw this but am glad that she is now a candidate for surgery and hope all goes well so she can be home quickly. She will be in my thoughts.
  2. Yep, I submitted and then it wouldn't let me take my answer back! My daughter has had it, my sister, and BIL have had it twice.
  3. All of the article I have seen are poorly written. Either something was lost in translation, or the release from the company was very poor. It's already been established that ivermectin has some properties against covid or we wouldn't have had any clinical trials, so I'm not sure what the purpose of this statement is unless they're just speaking to stockholders. The only study I can find under them regarding ivermectin began back in 2020. How many studies have been done since then? The UK Principle Trial is ongoing.
  4. This headline is all over again and most people don't understand what non-clinical research is, or why it matters. This is simply irresponsible IMHO.
  5. @mumto2 you might want to check out some of the deals. https://www.techbargains.com/deals/amazon-kindle-unlimited-membership It's worth checking to see if you qualify for 3-months for $0.99. 🙂
  6. I'm sorry you are going through this and while I have no advice I am sending lots of hugs and positive thoughts.
  7. I followed the recommendation and finished Dauntless (The Lost Fleet #1) by Jack Campbell. I added the series to my list. I am still working through Leviathan Falls, have a few choices downloaded on audible, and I added The Stars of Fortune by Nora Roberts to my TBR pile on behalf of this thread. @mumto2you'll have to let me know how it goes, The Sanatorium has been on my list for a while.
  8. I am glad he was able to get a bed. I hope he has a quick recovery whatever procedure is needed.
  9. This exactly. Every day there is another go fund me posted, another benefit looking for sponsors, or "proceeds going to" in my small community. This weekend, with 34% positivity rate we had a big get together at the local brewery to raise funds for another family that lost Dad to covid. I don't wish anyone ill will, but I'm struggling to be compassionate while my family is stuck under shielding protocols because even though I'm tier 1, my doctors don't think they can get MAB. At the same time, as a HCW I'm grateful that I have that luxury. @Mrs TiggywinkleI am glad your family is doing well and hope they have light cases.
  10. I wouldn’t necessarily integrate it, but I included it to give you an idea of what they’re covering in case he will need to test. It is very different than the classical approach I took with my kids. There is actually a standardized test at the end of 8th. I just can’t remember the name right now. I had my oldest take it.
  11. There is definitely an honors track at our local school district when it comes to English classes beginning in 9th grade, but that will vary district to district. Here access is by teacher referral and standardized test scores. For covid, these resources were also given to parents locally for english: https://www.readworks.org and https://www.commonlit.org/en.
  12. I struggle with compassion fatigue, so much. I am so sorry for those kids, such a heartbreaking situation.
  13. Based on sequencing, what some are assuming is omicron, based on the PCR test alone, is actually BA.2, which shows the same as delta and previous strains. Only running genetic sequencing can determine the difference anymore and that is happening in very few places.
  14. @Robin MTo be totally honesty I'm not sure what I think. I had to stop and put it down in December when I reached the part where the blue staff came into play. I loved the beginning, but I was frustrated with "jellies" and "nightmares" as alien characters. When I picked it up again I seemed to be in the right mindset, and finished the rest over a week. I liked it in bits and pieces. I do wish I had known the audible came with pdf files a lot sooner, that might have helped. I think I'd like to read it vs listen to it, or at least parts of it before I make a final verdict. Clear as mud? 🙂
  15. Okay, but this was on ABC news; "Each spouse in a married couple will receive a letter stating the total of the monthly payments, but parents should not double count the advanced credit on their join return....If there is a discrepancy, parents should create or log onto their online IRS tax account or the child tax credit portal and check for an updated figure." https://abc17news.com/politics/national-politics/cnn-us-politics/2022/01/25/parents-dont-throw-away-this-irs-letter-2/
  16. Are you sure it was split? We got two but it gives the amount for each child, then the number of children. If you do the math it is the amount we received. I don’t know maybe my brain is off tonight.
  17. I finished listening to the title To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini. I think it was the longest audible that I've listened to. I also finished reading the trilogy Starship's Mage: Red Falcon, which is a spin-off parallel to the Starship Mage series that I read last month. I wish I knew enough and could have read them as they fit between the original story. @mumto2I felt the same about the Kinsman Universe, although I realize they were a limited edition print. I want to say they started on the blog, but I don't remember the specifics. I'm pretty sure they self published the digital editions by request of fans.
  18. I'm sorry for your loss and hope your DH recovers quickly.
  19. My neurologist is a DO. He is awesome. We started with supplements to treat my spasticity. I wish there were more DOs in my area for family practice. My internist was awesome, and a DO. My current PCP is new, my old doc retired, but he seems more open minded than most for an MD. I see DOs for all my specialists now that it's been brought up. 😁
  20. All of the people my DH works with that have gotten it this month have been unvaccinated. I think it's equally about what risks people are taking. Here the majority of the unvaccinated don't take any precautions at all, while vaccinated are masking. I think it has the potential to impact both, as vaccinated doesn't exclude you from getting it. My SIL and BIL just had it a second time and they're now vaccinated, one boosted, since the first time they had it. BIL wasn't taking precautions any longer and got it at work.
  21. I don't understand the guidance at all. I'm glad to hear schools are closed because I agree that is positive.
  22. Yep, with delta I was allowed to go certain places with my N95 because they were confident they could get it if I was exposed or tested positive. Now I'm under "shielding" guidelines until they can get MAB back in sufficient numbers that my team is comfortable that they could get it. Right now I'm not even sure if I'll be getting treatment next week with current hospitalization loads and covid numbers.
  23. We have hardwood, laminate (industrial), and tile, but while I use wheels I don't have the weight of a power chair. Whatever you pick you are going to have to make sure the time is taken to get a very level surface before anything else is done. That took the most time for us, getting the floors actually down was quick. Ceramic or porcelain tile is supposed to be the best option, but I'm always cold. Many people recommend engineered hardwood over original.
