  1. I had my first at 45, not a big deal.  I made it easier on myself by changing my diet the week before, going to soft foods, then full liquids, and that made my prep very quick (Miralax/Dulcolax). My DH had his at 50 without any of the changes to his diet and did equally well, with a bit more bathroom time, same prep.  My BIL was just found to have precancerous polyps on his, so I vote with just do it.  It's not worth the risk, imho.

I detoured back into Dana Stabenow’s Kate Shugak series. So glad most of the books are available on kindle unlimited because I’m enjoying the heck out of the series.  She’s a great character as well as the setting. Don’t know what it is about ice and snow and braving the elements, something I totally hate, but I enjoy reading about it.  Man vs Nature thing.  Currently on #7 Breakup in which Kate is having a really terrible, horrible, very bad, no good day.

Thanks for the suggestion, I just downloaded book #1.  I love kindle unlimited.  🙂

  3. Congratulations @Mothersweets, he is adorable.

I'm not doing a very good job updating, but I finished my 2022 Reading Challenge some time recently.  I finished the Lizzie Grace series to date. I read Moonlight and Magic by Darynda Jones. I enjoy the PWF books she writes, they make me laugh, and I needed that yesterday. 🙂 I had a quick romp back into Jessie Mihalik's Starlight Shadow Series with Honor and Shadows, which just reminded me to preorder the final book in the trilogy. (It's a short prequel that was free with pre-orders of the first book.)

  4. I've waited to post but I think 🤞we are now past covid.  BA.5 is rampant here in our county, we are in the red on both maps, and I knew it was only a matter of time once DH's company dropped mask requirements.  He has to eat during his 12 hour shifts.  I am glad we made it this far out.

I took Paxlovid, because there were no monoclonal antibodies available, but it gave me severe bradycardia, and the cardiologist will make the call if I can take it again if needed. I'm not thinking about boosters yet, although it will be Pfizer.  I took IV steroids after my last booster to prevent a reaction like I had with my second Moderna, so I'm not sure if it will be worth the associated risks, or if the infection will suffice, that's another conversation with another doctor.

We are currently masking, and will get flu shots once everyone is symptom free for a bit.  We have always had to take precautions with the flu, so that's nothing new but we may discuss dropping masks for the kids and DH in certain situations once flu shots are effective and I've talked to all the specialists.

Currently reading #9 in Keri Arthur's Lizzie Grace series -- Sorrow's Song.

I forgot about this series.  I have read the first, so I just downloaded the next six from Hoopla.

Recently I finished Devouring Darkness (Heirs of Chicagoland #4) by Chloe Neill. I'm bummed that it looks like this series will end with the next book because of sales.  I finally finished listening to Archangel's Light (Guild Hunter #14) by Nalini Singh.  I had put it off because there was some controversy around this book and I didn't want to be disappointed.  I wasn't, much. I also read Only Bad Options (Galactic Bonds #1) by Jennifer Estep. I'm looking forward to a sequel.

    A WOMAN WHO SEES EVERYTHING . . .

Few people know the name Vesper Quill. To most folks, I’m just a lowly lab rat who designs brewmakers and other household appliances in the research and development lab at the powerful Kent Corp. But when I point out a design flaw and a safety hazard in the new line of Kent Corp starcruisers, everyone knows who I am—and wants to eliminate me.

I might be a seer with a photographic memory, but I don’t see the trouble headed my way until it’s too late. Suddenly, I’m surrounded by enemies and fighting for my life.

I don’t think things can get any worse until I meet Kyrion Coldren, an arrogant Regal lord who insists that we have a connection, one that could be the death of us both.

    A MAN WHO CAN’T FORGET HIS PAST . . .

The name Kyrion Coldren strikes fear in the hearts of people across the Archipelago Galaxy. As the leader of the Arrows, the Imperium’s elite fighting force, I’m used to being a villain, as well as the personal assassin of Lord Callus Holloway. Even the wealthy Regals who live on the planet of Corion are afraid of me.

But everything changes when I meet Vesper Quill. I might be a powerful psion with telepathic, telekinetic, and other abilities, but Vesper sees far too many of my secrets.

Thanks to an arcane, unwanted quirk of psionic magic, the two of us are forced to work together to unravel a dangerous conspiracy and outwit the dangerous enemies who want to bend us to their will.

I’m exhausted but definitely improving. Apparently my GP was on vacation! Yours think between phone calls and messaging someone would mention that part? But I’m relieved there was a reason. I really did not want to find another GP.  Finally got a script for antiviral last night. Maybe this fever will finally go? Thank you all for the prayers and check ins. ♥️

    How are you doing now?

  7. A friend just went through it this with their Dad right before covid.  It was a very difficult road and in the end they opted not to transplant and just focus on quality of life.  I can't imagine that is any easier a decision now that they've added covid to the picture.  I will keep your family in my thoughts.

The tech support team changed the universal setting on our system so this issue should be resolved.  AND I'm glad that I had a reminder to look at my own privacy settings...I had them set up the way I wanted them in my civilian account, but forgot to take care of it on my admin account.  Thanks to PurpleOwl upthread for posting the screenshots that show how to get to the Privacy settings.  That saved me a bunch of work! 🙂

Still seeing it. It also tells who is typing a response, and lets you check who's active in what threads from the homepage. Weird.

My dh’s company is a start up and one of the partners is HR. It’s not his main focus and not his job.

I agree it isn't their job.  I had spent 27 documented hours.  The phone call resulted in someone assigned to the claim on the part of BCBS to work with their participating provider, who was billing me, to force them to fulfill their contract, file the appropriate claim, and charge me accordingly.

  10. I finished Soul Taken by Patricia Briggs, and plan to listen to it again while shuffling kids around this week.  It was wonderful! I also finished Paladin's Kiss, Elemental Covenant book 3, by Elizabeth Hunter.  All the characters we love from the Elemental World brought together for a wedding.

It’s the vampire wedding of the century… and maybe the end of an empire.

The upper echelons of immortal society have gathered in New Orleans, all of them curious to witness the joining of Gavin Wallace, the immortal business mogul, to the human woman who captured his heart. But behind the facade of immortal revelry, New Orleans is a city teeming with old rivalries, political maneuvering, and twisted secrets.

Invited to the marriage ceremony of their two old friends, Carwyn ap Bryn and Brigid Connor venture south, ready to relax in the company of Marie-Hélène Charmont, the vampire queen of the Delta, and four hundred of her esteemed immortal guests.

But when Gavin asks Brigid and Carwyn to look into a mysterious man stalking his human employees, they’re unprepared for the tangled web of deception they uncover. Tug on the wrong string and centuries-old alliances might fall apart.

In a tenuously balanced society full of apex predators, even one slip can prove disastrous.

I added the audiobook Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin to my TBR pile.

Wow, my bariatric surgeon emailed me back - on the weekend! Said to stop the vitamin, and recheck in 3 months.

That it awesome that he got back to you on the weekend!  I take 40,000 times and can barely keep my levels in the middle range.  Fingers crossed everything checks out in 3 months and it's just less pills you need to take. 🙂
