  1. Isn't it better to agree to disagree rather then argue her points? I think she had good points and it sounds like I parent a lot like she does. I just didn't agree that she should bring another thread into this one to compare the two since they are 2 different threads. One refers to a child and the other refers to a grown woman that is acting as a child (IMO). I didnt really think there was a reason to respond since I agree with part of what she said. I also am not really into WTM drama and would rather avoid it if at all possible, but since you needed a response....there it is :)
  2. This brought back memories! I forgot this one in another thread! That's exactly what my mom used to tell me. It was her way or the highway!:lol::lol:
  3. I'm the complete opposite! I love games that are frustrating. It increases your skill! but honestly, I don't like easy video games. I'm not happy with the last WoW patch either since Blizzard went back to making everything easy again. I'm sure it was to entice their younger fan base to come back who were complaining the game had gotten to difficult.
  4. Is there more to the story or are you just taking the first step?:lol::lol:
  5. I will play Star Wars as soon as I have the funds to go out and buy another video game. My monthly limit is done! Lol I heard that its an excellent game though.
  6. All the custom content for The Sims 3 is what makes it so addicting!
  7. My oldest is almost 19 and getting ready to start CC. I homeschooled her from the 2nd grade.
  8. If you haven't played since then, you really should. The old world is amazing. The quests in Thousand Needles alone are fun enough to make another alt just to do everything all over again. The whole place is underwater now. If you are looking for someone to play with, I am Horde on Earthen Ring. Just shoot me a PM and I'll give you my in-game name.
  9. yes, it may work, but it is very easy to accidentally click on something and purchase it. I've done it before myself. I think I am just going to put some stuff on it and turn off the 3G.
  10. Just checked out that site you mentioned. Oh my goodness! Keep me away! They have Rollercoaster Tycoon on sale for $4.99. That's another very very fun one. You build the rollercoasters, make a whole entire theme park, and keep all your peeps happy. The campaign is amazing. You can even ride the rollercoasters after building them which makes me feel kind of sick! LOL It even really makes my stomach have that feeling as if your on a real rollercoaster. I usually use Steam to purchase new games. They are having an awesome Holiday sale right now. http://store.steampowered.com/
  11. I know I'm not the only one with the problem! Lol this is a spin off of the WTM name thread since it started to take a video game turn. I honestly didn't think this was a board where I would ever meet other "gamers". Maybe all of us that play WoW can exchange email addys so that we could play together with Real Friend ID. I would love to have other WTM'rs to play with. Some others I play are Starcraft (huge learning curve and requires tons of strategy...still learning), Minecraft (haven't played in awhile since my DS7 had taken it over), The Sims 3 (love this game!!), Warhammer Online, Tropico 4 (another strategy game but a city-builder). What do you play?
  12. Lol! I know! Should this be admitted??? Yes, I have a video game addiction! WoW, Starcraft, Minecraft, Sims 3, Warhammer and many others. The latest is Skyrim. Do Not start Skyrim if you ever wanna do anything else. LOL I have now admitted my problem. They say that's the first step.
  13. This happened to me as a teen, but I hadn't eaten in days because I had an eating disorder and no One in my family knew. What about blood pressure? Did then check that?
  14. This is too funny! There are a few of us here that play WoW. I wouldn't have ever thought. I've been playing for 5 years now, but not nearly as addicted as I used to be.
  15. Well, I'm not going to argue your points here. The fact that you don't have many rules in your house shows that everyone patents differently. I think we should just agree to disagree and call this thread done. The bottom line is that everyone parents differently and the OP probably should just make her own decision on what whe feels is appropriate for punishment with her DD according to her rules in her home. I don't feel that we have a ton of rules in our home either. My children are also good children and know right from wrong which I'm sure is true for most on this board. There does always come a time when a good child will deceive a parent no matter how much they know of right and wrong. Just because a child or teen chooses to do something does not mean that they don't know it is the wrong decision. Even adults make the wrong choices sometimes and have to deal with consequences whether big or small. I really don't know how to respond to the OP though since I caught my DD who is 9 hiding her iPod touch under her covers last week and I didn't see it as a big deal. I just told her to put it away and try to fall asleep as it was 11:00 pm already. The issue with the OP was not necessarily the iPod, but the fact that her DD lied. Lying is frowned upon in our home too, but I haven't been in that situation with an 11 or 12 year old. My DD 18 was never caught in a lie until she was 18. But what she did was completely wrong and doesn't even compare to having an iPod in her bed so I really can't even say what I would have done in a situation as this one.
  16. First off, why are we comparing the 2 threads that have nothing to do with each other? Second, your children are allowed to just continually break the rules you set in your home? Mine aren't. What is that teaching them? It's not right to steal either, but is it okay to break that rule too?
  17. Love the responses! This is so interesting to read and makes me wish I could change my name to something much more creative.
  18. Your eyes are very important. Go get it checked.:001_smile:
  19. I was looking at some of the names and wondering. Mine is just pretty much my Name and birthdate. Boring, I know. I wish I could come up with a more creative forum name, but I always seen to stick to the same easy to remember name. How did you come up with yours?
  20. I was sitting down, leaning forward, putting together a new Playmobil house my DS who is 4 got for Christmas. He tried to walk around me, but there was stuff all over the floor. He tripped and fell on my back! I couldn't even get out if bed this morning and stand without feeling a ton of pressure in my lower back having to sit back down. I felt the same way yesterday morning and it took me hours to get up and going to get out of the house. The worst part is, we have no health insurance. Hoping it clears up as always (although it's never been this bad). I see a chiropractor in my very near future. I just hate feeling useless. My DH has to come home from work to take DCs to swimming lessons today.
  21. I'm just wondering if you opened it yet and what you have decided!:bigear:
