  1. Whew, I just finished all 44 pages, and I'm sure by the time I post it will have grown so much more! I'm an avid lurker on these boards, and this thread has intrigued me more than any others, so I am stepping out of my shyness to reply to the OP:
  2. I was thinking the exact same thing! My theories change weekly though, with this show, I guess that's what makes it so great.
  3. I'm teaching the same age, same type of class right now; one thing that's been a hit was english muffin pizzas, if you can get a toaster oven in there. We also decorated cupcakes once, and if you wanted to you could bring a mixer in to make your own frosting. Good luck!
  4. Hi, I haven't posted much here, but I have gotten so much from reading these boards; I really could use some help in putting together a course description for a co-op class I'm teaching this year. It'll be my first year teaching, and the only thing I know is that it is to be a cooking class for 2nd and 3rd graders the first half of the year, and then K and 1st graders the second half. I have no idea if I should make it a strict 'learn to cook' class, or if I should give it a slant, like adding in some science or history. Any advice, book recommendations, site recommendations, etc. would be so appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  5. We just visited Kitty Hawk last month and loved it! The Wright Brothers Memorial was fun, there was a paper-airplane-making class going on that my kids (2 and 6) enjoyed. Also, there is an outdoor play that is performed all summer long in Manteo, which is not far away, called The Lost Colony. It was wonderful, and the kids both loved it - dd is still talking about Queen Elizabeth and even the 2yo wants to know when we can go back to the play. Out of everything we did there, this was their favorite! Here's the web site for the play: http://www.thelostcolony.org/
  6. How about if the additional language is not a romance language? Like say Japanese? My dd (6) is learning Japanese now, and I wanted to start Latin next year. Would that be too hard?
