  1. Are either of them the same format as the samples on the website? Thanks!
  2. I can't imagine why he can't deduct it. He said that the deductions have been cut so much in the bracket he's in that it's just not used. I don't know. I just feel awful. Somebody please tell me he can use this and how!
  3. He pays ALL of their expenses-gate fees, practice fees, race fees, bike maintenance, parts, etc. It's a LOT and it's EXPENSIVE!! There is no way my boys could do this without his support. He had our trailer wrapped that we take the bikes in and his logo, website, etc. are on that. We have his logo and website on their bikes and helmets. There is that bit of advertising exposure. I just don't know what to think. I always thought he was able to deduct it and that made me feel not quite soooo bad about the cost. But to find out he's not using any of it. Ugh.
  4. My boys' uncle owns his own business and sponsors them in MX racing. All this time, I thought the money he spent on this was tax deductible. He just told me the other day that it's not. Is he correct or is there some way to handle it that it could be a tax deduction for him? Thanks!
  5. There are several AMAZING schedules created by someone here. I can't remember who it is though. Here's the link: http://corefoundations.wordpress.com/scheds-math-science/ There are schedule for lots of different things. Enjoy! They're great!
  6. Last year, I downloaded an awesome schedule/lesson plan for Exploring with Physical Science. It's not the Donna Young one. It looks very Sonlightish. I don't know where I got it from, but I'm hoping to find it again and because I wanted one for biology. Does anyone know about this? Thanks! Kim
  7. Wow, Clementine! Thanks for the detailed post! I've been waiting for the money to get the 2nd edition, but that just hasn't happened. The time is here for me to order, so I'm only going to be able to get the older version. ladykayaker, your post makes me feel better! I really hate to miss out on the color illustrations, but I think we'll be ok. There's always the internet! Thanks, Kim
  8. Curious about what's different from the old edition to the new. Thanks, Kim
  9. Me. In Georgia. Went to bed. Tossed and turned. Got back up. :glare:
  10. I bought a $29 Net 10 phone at Dollar General. Yes, Dollar General! My dh got a fancy $200 Android phone from Best Buy on Boost Mobile, which is powered by Sprint. We've been to some remote parts of GA and I am the only one who will have service. He constantly roams in and out of service, but I have only dropped service for a minute or two in a "hole". He pays $50 mo for unlimited everything. I buy 200 minutes for $20. They expire after 3 months, I believe. My little $29 phone does have web & text capabilities, I just don't really use them. I'm fairly certain Tracfone and Net 10 are the same company, so you should have good coverage. Kim
  11. That's what I'd like to do, I'm just worried the text will look too bad with the pages missing from the back.
  12. I did copy a page or two. I also downloaded the answer key sample from Ask Dr Callahan which has the first chapter or two. I like the format of it, but can't find just that key without having to buy their whole program. I'm just thinking I would like it all nice and neat in one bound copy. Chris, did the text look wonky with the pages missing in the back?
  13. I go thru the Set II exercises with my ds and would like to have the answers where I can see them as we go along. I'm thinking I want to cut the Set II answers out, cut the binding off the TM, and bind them all together. I just can't bring myself to actually cut the pages out of the text! I'm afraid it will look junky at the back with all the pages missing. :glare::confused: Anyone done this or cut a bunch of pages out of another text? Thanks! Kim

  15. Also, could someone tell me a bit about the Daniel study. Is it scheduled to tie in at some point or just used over a period? I can't find any samples of it anywhere.
  16. I don't see the Smarr guides listed on MFW. Are they in the package? Thanks~!
  17. Thank you, Debbie, for that. I stumbled across a download thru a google search today that shows how to match up the old 34 lesson TM. Then I found the download for the Honors solution key. I did submit a request to join the yahoo group, but haven't heard back yet. The way the rep talked on the phone, you would have thought the algebra level was totally revamped. This old TM seems to have everything except walking thru the Honors lessons, but surely I can wing it with the help of the answer key. It shows the steps to the solutions. I don't know, maybe I'm missing the obvious here or maybe the rep just wanted a bigger sale.
  18. The lady I spoke with at MUS said my old book has 34 lessons and that fact makes it useless. If it was the old one with 35 lessons, it could be matched up to the new student text. She said the algebra level has revisions that are crucial to making this a much better program and it would be worth the extra money to buy the kit new. Even if I could find an older comb-bound book, she said the revisions to this level have made the program better by leaps and bounds. When I go back and look at the sample pages, there doesn't seem to be a lot of word problems. I wonder how the content compares to Jacobs. UGH! All these past months, I thought I had algebra squared away. Now it's back to square one. Back to the search. :(
  19. Thank you for the link, but I don't think that's the right one. I was thinking the one here everyone always talks about is Elementary Algebra by Harold Jacobs. It has lizards or something on the front. Can anyone clarify for me, please? Thanks!
  20. Every one I find is about $50! What's the deal? I had planned one using MUS for my mathphobic son since I picked up the TM and DVDs for cheap at an expo. But they are the old comb-bound version and when I went today to order the student text, they told me the version I have is obsolete. I will need to get the whole kit if I want to use MUS. So, I thought I would pick up one the Jacob's and just take a look. I don't like the busy pages of Lial's. I think it would overwhelm my son. Suggestions? Anyone have a Jacob's to sell? Also, if I decide to go with Jacob's, what all do I need besides the student text? Thanks, Kim
  21. Great new, katilac. Thanks! Here's a link to their poly one for only $7.99. They also have leather for $19.99. Seems much cheaper than Levenger. The biggest cost would be the hole punch for $39.99. Most of the accessories are under $5. http://www.staples.com/M-by-Staples-Arc-Customizable-Poly-Notebooks/product_SS1055661
  22. I saw the less expensive M Arc by Staples yesterday and am thinking I may like it for my lesson plans, etc. But, I need it to fold back on itself so it won't take up so much space at our work area. Thanks! Kim
