  1. I am happy for you, and I am happy for me because you chose to share this! Thank you so very much for your insight and encouragement.
  2. Giggly Grammar is very thorough and very funny. My eldest son and I had a great time his last year before high school!
  3. My children really like Prima Latina and ask to do Latin!
  4. If you click on the link the OP provided, you can read for yourself what is included as well as download for free the first three chapters. :)
  5. I have and use SOTW and all the Miller/Guerber books in addition to Christine Miller's All Through the Ages. The latter is a fantastic resource; it lists fiction and non-fiction books by age level for further study in several time periods and major historical events. Great stuff!
  6. Oopsies! I just noticed that I misspelled "possessive." 😮 Sorry about that. I'm not sure how that slipped past my brain THREE TIMES.
  7. Except that Latin is the parent of the Romance languages. (As in Romance=Roman. Latin is what they spoke). And the language of science. And medicine. And law. And about 60% of English. So...not too shabby.😊
  8. Just as pronouns take the place of nouns, posessive pronouns take the place of posessive nouns. The function of posessives is adjectival; they give more information about a noun. Whose car? Sarah's. Whose car? Hers. Sarah's and hers are interchangeable just as are John's and his. So yes, they are nouns, but their FUNCTION is as adjectives. I hope that helps!
  9. Math Mammoth or Rod and Staff
  10. We have used both and prefer Science in the Beginning, etc. Dr. Wile's final book in the series (#5) was just released last week! It is Science in the Industrial Age.
  11. Yes, the Memoria Press forum is great! A button to click for it is right on the MP homepage. Check it out!
  12. David Copperfield is still too advanced, but that could go on a list for later.
  13. I second the motion for one of Notgrass's offerings for middle school age: From Adam to Us (world history), America the Beautiful (U.S. history), or Uncle Sam and You (civics). All are excellent, and my children both enjoy them AND learn a lot, which is not always the case with other materials. 😊
  14. We love Notgrass for sure. Memoria Press's stuff is awesome as well. Both go over big at our house.
  15. I would recommend Dr. Jay Wile's Berean Builders series, e.g. Science in the Beginning, Science in the Ancient World, etc. I know you expressed that you would rather not do experiments, but the ones in this series (one before each lesson) are VERY doable and VERY short, most taking mere minutes. All lessons are immediately adaptable to ages from K through about 7th. The notebooking aspect is simple and straightforward. My kids really have learned a lot, and so have I! I encourage you to take a good look at this series, the final installment of which should be coming out later this year making a total of five books.
