  1. Has anyone done a history class for an 11th grader which specializes in military history - US military history - mainly WW1 and WW2? Can you recommend some must reads and possibly a main reference book? thanks melissa
  2. I had the same problems this spring. NOthing over the counter worked! Finally, I went to Whole Foods and the lady there gave me Netttles/Quercetin. The maker is Eclectic Institute. It worked like a charm. Within minutes of taking, my nose cleared up. You may want to check and see if it interfers with any prescription medications you may be taking! hth, melissa
  3. Does anyone need any little boy clothes? I have quite a few size medium/large (size 10-14). Shorts, t-shirts, a couple of dress shirts, and long sleeve things. jUST PM ME AND i'D be happy to ship them to you! melissa
  4. Does anyone know if there a study guide to the Patriot's Guide to American History? I thought we'd use this next year and I would really like something that holds our hands through this! melissa
  5. Can someone recommend an easy to use writing class - preferably online - for a seriously struggling 9th grade boy. We've done so many classes but his writing is not improving! We've done some home2teach, a semester with write@home, a progymnasmata class with Regina Coeli. After all of these classes, his writing is still very elementary. We are in need of a tried and true method. Something easy to teach and something that helps him just write basic expository type papers - maybe step by step. CAN SOMEONE HELP US? I'm so worried that he won't be able to get into college because of this. thanks, melissa
  6. Does anyone have any experience with the Veritas Press online classes? I'm thinking about either the grammar school English or Literature. Are they worth the money? Did your kids get a lot out of the class? Thanks,. Melissa
  7. Does anyone have any ideas for Christmas gifts for my brothers? One brother has everything and unless it's a very expensive gift, he won't appreciate it. My other brother is just hard to buy for. We do family gifts for them. I would like to probably spend between 50-75.00 per family. Help.....we are running out of time. Thanks, Melissa
  8. We are Christians and have let our kids read and watch Harry Potter. To us, it is pure fantasy. There's nothing real about it. It's like a modern fairy tale. Our kids understand that as well. As for Desperate Housewives, it portrays real people. It could happen. melissa
  9. Try purityproduct.com. They have a supplement that has plant sterols as well as COQ-10 and fish oil in it. This should lower cholestrol melissa
  10. Help!!!!!My 9th grade son is using BJU's Physical Science this year. It is so far over his head that he's frustrated and not enjoying it at all! The tests are killers and he's failed both of them. He does have serious memory issues. He can't remember anything...even with study! What do we do? Is there a better alternative out there that doesn't cost a fortune? I hate to see him lose his confidence and think of himself as a failure. ( He is a little bit of a perfectionist) Thanks, melissa
  11. Pamela, Have you tried seeing a Naturopath? There's an office in Dallas and I think there's one in Lewisville. melissa
  12. how about hot pockets? you can freeze for later use? Here's a great recipe that's easy and always turns out! www.suzannemcminn.com melissa
  13. I don't think anyone is arguing that fact that the US system needs a change. You know what rolls downhill. We've got hospitals charging 12.00 for 1 Tylenol and insurance companies adding these expenses to the consumer who in turn has to pay higher premiums for less care. I think my question is......no matter how badly we need some healthcare reform, do we, as citizens, trust those jokers in Washington to do what's right for the people? Do we have enough faith in them ? I say NO WAY! I don't care what party they belong to. It seems like our ELECTED officials are only after power and what they can do to promote their agendas. Researching on the internet, it seems like Switzerland has a good system. Can we hire them? Can we impeach the entire House and Senate and replace them with reliable men and women? Sorry....hope this doesn't count as a political post1 melissa
  14. We haven't had any experience with the HS classes ( will this year) but the Middle School class using Henle was great! My son really enjoyed Mr. Moore. He was available for outside class help if needed. This one was worth the money for us. melissa
  15. We pay about 1400/month ( this includes 5500/year taxes and 1375/year for insurance). It's 4400sq ft - 5 bedroom, 3.5 baths. We got a great deal on this house since it was a foreclosure. We lived in our much smaller house for 10 year so we had a nice downpayment! This house does need some work but it's only 2 years old and we do a little at a time! melissa (north of Dallas)
