  3. Behind what? Will you have to some day delay your children’s high school graduation by a week if you take time off now? If not, don’t worry about it

  8. We have a dog, cat and two rabbits. The rabbits are the top of the pecking order. All my dogs have been able to learn the difference between “family “ and prey. We introduce new animals first by letting them smell each other- usually with the smaller animal crated. Then we separate them with a dog or child gate. We’ve moved from that to leashing the dog indoors and allowing the smaller animal free range. All my dogs have been well trained and know “leave it” very well.

  10. I got some new asthma meds and sleep aids. The only down-side is that the asthma meds make my heart beat REALLY LOUD, which makes hit hard to fall back to sleep. I feel like I'm in a Catch-22 situation here. 😜 I did my stretches and a bit of strength. Dh and I are scheduled to play tennis this afternoon. Should be fun!

  11. I am sorry contacting your friends is difficult for you. Crying and anxiety attacks about a text message seems to me a case for professional help, and not something one can expect one's friends to fix. I am tired, so tired, of being the one to carry the friendships and to do all the heavy lifting. I give and give and give. And when *I* for once am the one who struggles, I do not have the energy to explain to my friends how reciprocating human interactions work. I cannot be their therapist and teach them what they should be doing to be perceived as human beings who give a crap- I have no

  12. I am extremely stressed about next Tuesday. I am also over reacting to some other things in my life in a way that doesn't make a lot of sense, so I think that is also probably connected to my stress over Tuesday. I am a box checker and rarely have us take days off of school. I am thinking of maybe canceling school for tomorrow until Thursday and just reading books and doing crafts with the kids. Is that crazy? It would put us behind almost a week.

  13. HI all. the only rules in this and following threads will be civility and I have never seen incivility in this thread. Welcome! Good morning! I hate that Daylight Savings Time is coming. It always confuses my body---much more than changing time zones for some reason. I guess it is because it is the same place, with the same lighting coming in or around me in the day but suddenly all wrong. Breakfast, meds, early this morning Go to Publix, pick up my prescription and get bread for dd2 who is coming to stay with us for 5 days with 2 cats (one is the one who lived in my house

  15. I found this - it might be helpful: https://www.lovelypuppies.online/ideas/vizslas-get-along-with-cats/ It gives you a step by step plan. I like plans. They make me happy. 🙂 I also have dogs and cats but am more of a cat person than a dog person. I also have horses. Just remember - dogs and horses are domesticated. Cats are... not. No matter what anyone tells you. Cats would like us to believe they are domesticated - it's all a facade. 😜 This is one of our Great Pyrs with one of our outdoor barn cats. They are best friends.

  16. When we were at the vet's office on Monday, there was a dog in there to get the stitches removed from where they had to take out his eye. The cat did it. I second a Maine Coon. They are the dogs of the cat world. Not a snack:

  17. I'm thinking it might work well for Mardi Gras, which isn't a big thing here normally, but weather should be nice, and new traditions won't hurt. Let the teens dress up and decorate their spaces as floats for a reverse parade :), and I'm guessing the same businesses which were more than willing to donate candy, coupons, and other treats for Halloween would be glad to do that in the Spring, too.

  18. Cleaning and dehumidifying CAN remediate mold, depending on the cause and surfaces involved. But, if they haven’t disclosed the cause(s) and surfaces involved, it’d be difficult to tell. Generally speaking, when a school building is involved, there’s usually an industrial hygienist involved in determining the best route to take to meet health department requirements.

  29. OK, we didn't do much for our 20th as our dd was a baby. May I make a suggestion? Do something for your 20th but plan now for that big trip on your 25/silver anniversary. Well, it used to be called that. 🙂 Reasons are - it will give you "time" to really discuss where to go and not just choose a place to fill in the blank. Are you going as a couple? You'll need babysitters. You'll have more time to save money so it's not a financial hardship. This pandemic is not going anywhere soon! (Ha, I see you responded to one of my threads as I type this). 30. We are a republic of 50 states, most of which have populations smaller than Taiwan. There is absolutely no reason why the federal government could not appropriately develop and fund what is being done in Taiwan, to be implemented on a statewide level. Instead of demonizing "anarchist" blue states and withholding federal funds from them, we could have all been working together towards a unified, national health policy that governors implement on a statewide, regional basis with their public health departments. But, that requires unity, consensus, and maturity -- something which appears to be in

  31. Wait a minute. I hear this phrase every single day and I am not in danger because of it. Context matters, and the use of this phrase is nearly always positive all over the world, and literally does mean that God is greater than everyone and everything, not that a terrorist is out to get you.

  32. It just doesn't sit well with me. We're acting like we don't have a teacher shortage or nurse shortage in this country. The sub pool has a lot of retired teachers and around here subs do NOT get health insurance. The retirees aren't going to step up for this. They have to be more careful than ever and they HAVE an income. I feel like people want teachers to torpedo their own lives so everyone else can pretend things are normal, but the virus doesn't really care that we're tired of all this. Teachers are still doing what they're actually paid to do. They are preparing and presenting the

  33. So I have a funny story to tell that brings home the stress I am under. This was related to me by Dh. I have zero memory of any of these events. Dh and I had been asleep for some time. I got out of bed and turned on our bathroom light. Then I walked over to dh’s side of the bed and took his phone. He said, ‘what are you doing’. I said, ‘I need it.’ So I go into the bathroom and he thinks I used the bathroom. He is thinking to himself, ‘why does she need my phone. Maybe she wants to look at the pictures I took of the dog earlier. No I don’t think she even knew I took pictures. Maybe

  35. Ha! that' reminds me of the time my rescue weimaraner escaped (again....she could unlock the windows and open them), and I was out searching for her. All of a sudden I hear hissing. I'm now running into a stranger's backyard, terrified my 77 pound hunting breed is chasing a cat. Nope. My big beast of a dog was cornered BY a cat! Literally stuck in the corner of the yard, fence on either side, stuck due to an unhappy cat who wouldn't let the dog past. I had to chase the cat off myself, lol.

  36. I would research Youtube and see about getting a cheaper bike and using the Peloton App with it. The App is $12/mo but the Peloton bike subscription is $40/mo. 5 years of use, just for the app alone: Peleton: $2,400 App: $720 Add in the bike itself: $2,400 for the Peloton with special shoes, etc.... $750 for a very nice used Echelon or Schwinn or Keiser brand (or whatever) There......just saved you $4400.

Good job with working towards your goal, I know it is a total gut punch to have to change course when things were going so well but you have pivoted and kept moving forward, that is something to cheer (even if it feels not enough compared to where you were).

I normally do both the by author and title, just as it sounds reading one book for each letter of the alphabet, overlap is fine, any genre so fluffy is more than fine. This is one of those that is by my personal rules. But it does stretch one to read books that they never would have chosen., I am 4 away from finishing both so I checked out 2 romances an

  48. Like, the definition of anarchy is literally 'no government'. I'm still mystified about how the states actually, y'know, governing and trying to manage this crisis, are labeled 'anarchists'. We have a federal government that has been sitting on its hands, denying there's a problem, or there's nothing we can do, firing experts and putting family members and Fox talking heads and other non-experts who just nod along with the feeling of the moment in 'charge' instead (though in reality they do... nothing) - like did you hear yesterday they announced that Covid has been defeated! Well, I guess

  49. Aren't you the one who started this thread? Kinda seems like you should be checking in on it. It seems like no matter what someone suggests you are going to arbitrarily claim that it's not a good plan, it's not feasible. This is exactly the same problem I keep running into. People act like they have an open mind about ways to get the pandemic under control, but actually their minds were closed from day 1.
