  1. Update: She is still here with us, and has made so much progress. The self-harming and hurting others is still happening daily, but it's now down to several times a day. She is picking up new words all the time, and started putting words together for the first time this week. We've got nearly all her therapies in place now, and she will hopefully be starting at the relief nursery preschool next week, where she will be getting the rest of them. Also, those two mornings a week, I will have a few hours of uninterrupted homeschooling time! We are nearly through with the zillion appointments

  2. (((Slache and family))) Y'all need to get better! ❤️ For intentionally annoying children: you are not being annoying enough as a parent. (Refer to various uses of duct tape and bazookas. Consult JJM as needed. Or Better yet, send annoying child to JJM) Happy Nirthday to baking baby girl! She's going to be a Martha Stewart like her Mom! 🎉❤️ Go Jean go! Eat well! (((Bookie))) I just took 11yo dd's device for talking disrespectfully to me. 🙄🤣

  3. Yesterday was a good sugar day and I feel better because of it. Sundays are often harder to keep on track than Saturday. Going to do my best to keep on track today.

  4. You know, dreams are weird. I mean, how does one’s mind concoct the story? For two nights now i’ve Basically had the same dream. I dreamed that I was engaged to this guy. IRL he’s the husband of an acquaintance. I’ve never met him, just seen pictures of him. But in my dream he was her brother. And in the whole dream she kept hovering over me, giving me advice about him. She wasn’t being annoying though, And it was pretty helpful....... ok... I get it. Typing it out.... I get it. At first I was disturbed because i’m Like, why am I dreaming about another woman’s husband? Eewww. That’s not

  5. Good Morning!!! COFFEE!!!!~D Sunday!!! Today my Baby is 9. Svengo. I can’t deal with this. Church this morning. I hate going to church without DH. I don’t know why. But I will. Even though I feel like staying home. Baby made cupcakes for her Sunday School class. She was insistent that she was bringing something. I told her she could if she made it, so she did.

  6. Good morning! Dd13 and I are playing for services this morning. Dh will take ds14 to orchestra rehearsal this afternoon so that I can go to Aldi. Alone. In the rain. Coffee!

  7. I don't know what to do with a child that is intentionally annoying. We've explained multiple times why this behavior (usually loud noises) is not ok, but it's not sinking in. You need a new church.

  8. Morning. Just got up and I'm having my tea. Dh isn't here and I'm not sure where he is. He may have gone into work for a few hours. Once I finish my tea, I have to work on classes, setting up school, and my 4-H meeting tomorrow night. Same old, same old. I'm halfway through my first sessions then I have a week off (if we don't get a snow day in the next 4 weeks). I really really need to take that week and get more plans solidified rather than doing them week by week like this. It's not even a big deal if I have to tweak each week but right now I'm doing too much each week. I re

  9. Good morning! We get to stay home and watch the broadcast of our General Conference for church today. I did not clean my kitchen before bed last night so I will have to tackle that this morning. I need to figure out what to do with my too-large collection of vitamins and supplements; I decided to organize them two days ago and they have been sitting out on my kitchen table ever since.

  11. We're getting a temple in my town! The people here have been praying and working for it for years. It's incredibly exciting because we're 3.5 hours away from our nearest right now. It's likely the new one will be a mile away. I'm still feeling amped up. I loved all the sessions so far and especially loved the new theme.

  12. Back from the wedding. It was very sweet. I'm glad next Saturday's wedding is indoors. I spent 6 hours in a car today. Ugh. We would be thrilled for dd16 to get up to 97lbs. She's 5'2". I'm 5'5", but I think I was 5'6" when I was younger. Dd13 and ds14 are both taller than me now. This pleases them immensely! I must banish the goat. Rain is forecast for tomorrow!!

  13. What I hate is when I get lumped into the anti-vaxxers because we do an as-needed/ delayed vax schedule because we have had multiple anaphylactic reactions to multiple vaccines in our immediate family. I didn't choose to be an anti-vaxxer. I was told by multiple doctors (not crunchy doctors that I specifically hunted down so that they would agree with me) that herd immunity may be our family's best choice since it was obvious our immune systems have some sort of issue with something in the vaccines that most people do not have. It drives me nuts that each time I have a encounter with a new doc

  14. Communion made my sugars go on a roller coaster ride. Just ate my stupid salad. Fitbit says that since I got more than 12000 steps yesterday, I should get more than 13000 steps today! Svengo!

  15. Am I the only one who wants to know where that "here" is? And yes, I absolutely allowed my 20 mo old to "feed" his infant brother. And then both of them, my 3 yr old and 16 mo old were trying to feed my youngest. They tried giving him a pacifier too and cover him with a blanket. the LAST thing I was going to do at that point is to make it seem like they shouldn't have access to the sibling.

  20. I tend to refer to the entire appliance as a stove.....as in "When we moved into our old rental, we had to go buy a new electric stove." But, when referring to the parts of it, the oven is the oven, and the stove is the cook top. I wouldn't say "Put a cake in the stove" or "cooking pancakes on the oven."

  21. Ours are one unit, and I'll use "stove"to mean the whole thing, like "Do not play near the stove!" Or "careful, the stove is hot!" But I bake in the oven and fry on the stove top.

  28. If the assumption when seeing the photo is that Americans are abandoning their babies to toddlers for care, that's false and should just be explained. One of the ways that Americans nurture and value sibling relationships is usually to allow siblings to "help" for a few minutes under supervision with various baby tasks they'd like to try. Parents also like to take photos of this to save the memory of how much the older sibling wanted to do these things. The toddlers are not actually caring for the siblings. They are closely supervised. The bonding time of feeding is generally not infringed on

  29. Exactly. And they washed baby's feet when he/she was in the bath, "read" books to baby, helped choose clothes and dress baby, had a special basket of baby toys they could use to entertain baby, helped burp baby, took turns "holding" baby safely with help, etc. I guess one thing that seems pretty common in the US is lack of post-partum support and childcare. I was on my own with each of my newborns (and all the other children) by the end of the second week. So my choices were pretty much 1. let the littles "help" with newborn care, or 2. have to set up and then clean up other activities

  34. My personal feeling from having an entire counter full of meds and supplements (ask Slache, she's been traumatized by a picture), take the vitamin D and elderberry gummies first thing with your tea. If you can, I would have a cup of tea with benefiber at lunch time. But if it just doesn't work any other way, I would take it all in the morning because what gets into you is better than what doesn't get into you even if the absorption is affected a bit. I personally like Solgar's Gentle Iron because it doesn't bother my tummy.

I managed to go all of last year without getting sick <<knock on wood>> and I really want to do the same this year. I did get bronchitis in the summer 🙄 but at least classes were over.

  37. Morning. I've really got to learn how to revise stories and keep the house a little cleaner at the same time. The boys are back from their vacation, though. They'll be in charge of a few days of cleaning, which will help. I'm editing and revising probably close to 15,000 words a day, and working on characters for another story, and that just takes a lot of my day. Also cooking. Boys start cooking again this week, too. We have several grilling sessions planned.

  41. A lot of people I know from different groups all wanted to watch it with me. But the groups don’t overlap. I watched it with a family group the first time and was very disappointed at how boooring it was. So I groaned when I realized I still had to go see it again with a friend group. (I promised a friend who can’t drive that I’d take her with the friend group.) I figured I could nap during it this time, but I actually liked it better the second time around. There was precious little true conflict in the movie and once I knew that nothing terribly exciting was going to happen, I just

  43. Nothing in particular but it’s harder for me to cope with uncertainty. I like being totally competent and even just *being* in a foreign country brings constant uncertainty. I try to embrace that, to be a person who is willing to grow, but I’m not naturally adventurous. It’s obviously easier to board a bus or a train and just look at the scenery as I go. I’m also not a person who loves to drive other people’s cars, and I feel stressed driving in an unfamiliar place. I got pulled over driving a rental in Colorado because I was driving with no headlights. 😂 I had to take a sobriety test; I

  47. Coming in late to the “famous people “ discussion. I have known or studied with or worked for various people who were at the top or near the top of their field in opera, interior design, politics, medicine and Christianity (if you can call that a field). None of them would be featured in People magazine but some would be household names even out of their field and all would have been known in their specialty. Some I knew because of my father. Some I know on my own.

  48. Happy Nirthday, Baby KrissiK! Yay for cupcakes! I also hate going to church without Dh. It feels a LOT of work just for me to shuttle kids everywhere and then have no one to poke me awake during the sermon. (Not the sermon’s fault, btw; but if I sit, I sleep).
