Public Club

This is a group for those that identify as modest mothers. Range of topics can include anything-clothing, society, advice, entertainment, etc. While this is not specifically a religious group, Christian content is likely. Any denomination (Witness, LDS, Methodist, etc) is welcome, as long as support and tolerance can be given to all. I would like to connect with similar minded mamas.
-

Are you following Weight Watchers? Please join here for discussing, supporting and encouraging each other in the journey. You don't *have* to be on WW to join, but that's what I am on, so that's what *I* will be talking about. Come on over! Everyone needs support and encouragement on this path!
-

This group is initially for those members who will be teaching high school chemistry in the fall of 2013. Chemistry can be a challenging subject to teach at the high school level, so the goal is to share resources, expertise, emotional support, and lots of virtual chocolate. Please come ask questions and share your solutions. Tales of successful labs and tales of lab woes are also welcome.

I thought it might be a good idea to start it up with a handful of threads - really just titles -to keep us organized:

Introductions/Check-in: introduce yourself and your student, your curriculum and perhaps your goals (Honors, regular, just surviving high school science). Check back in here if you make a major change, talk about the results and maybe what you would do differently next time. This could be helpful for those who come after.

Planning: What you are working on over the summer to prepare; how you are organizing your materials and how you are setting up your lab materials.

Resources: I thought I would link Dicentra's resource thread and we can add as we go.

Topics: Maybe Dicentra could set this up? ;) We will all be using different curriculum, but will cover roughly the same material, if not always in the same order: introduction, atoms, stoichiometry, states of matter, solutions, nuclear chemistry, etc. The idea would be that if you have a question about Boyle's Law, then you would go to the thread on "Gases" and ask your question or talk about the cool experiment you did or link a great Youtube lecture on the topic. This way we can stay organized, I think. :tongue_smilie:

Whatever else you can think of: math for chemistry, field trips, and maybe a section for "practical application." One of my favorite ideas for filed trips in chemistry came from mcconnellboys with the suggestion of visiting distilleries, breweries, etc. to see chemistry in action. Kitchen chemistry is a great teaching tool as well.

Have a great year and enjoy the journey.
-

We are working through American Government and Comparative Government with the goal of taking the AP American Government and Comparative Government exams in the spring.

I wanted to create a space in which I could drop some of the helpful things I find and maybe do some group study with others.

-
Public Club

This group is for those who wish to offer support, advice, encouragement, or who want to learn more. We will discuss character qualities from a Christian perspective, how to live a more biblical life, and how to encourage our family. I hope to cultivate a friendship and closeness amongst similar minded members. This group will also be a safe place to discuss without judgment or rudeness.
-

This group is for discussion and sharing on all things Montessori (links, blogs, documents, ideas), with a particular emphasis on how Montessori methods and philosophy intersect with the world of Classical Education. Since there are lots of resources out there for ages 3-6, I'd like to particularly target ages 6+.

Thanks! Join in!

-

For people who want to explore how mainstream science and faith in a Creator support and enrich each other. Share resources, ideas, questions, doubts, and stories of how geological, biological, and cosmological evolution challenge or deepen your faith and homeschooling, while respecting the inevitable differences of opinion among us.
