  1. What are some of your recommendations for Physical Science for a 9th grader? Thanks.
  2. :tongue_smilie:! Even so, I still didn't understand how to tell which way to work a particular problem. This has helped a lot in understanding :001_smile: With my dd reading the replies and having a light bulb moment, we both now understand, LOL. Thanks so very much to all of you. I am very thankful to have this forum to come to for help. Blessings, Tani
  3. The answer for #46 that the book gives is wrong? Jann: dd said she had a light bulb moment with your answer! Thank you. Tani
  4. I understand the absolute value must always be positive, right? The answer they get for the second problem is (-infinity, 2]. I think I am about to get it. Do you know to work this problem this way because the right side of the inequality is negative? If it had been a positive 3 would you have worked it the same as the first problem? Thanks so much :001_smile:
  5. I need help understanding some problems in Lials Intermediate Algebra, 8th ed. The problems are on page 152, problems 29 and 46 (just as an example). My daughter isn't understanding what the difference is between solving these two problems. I am not sure how to even ask. The first one I solved fine, with correct answer. Second one I solved the same way but I didn't get the correct answer. Why? And how do I tell what way to solve these, to tell the difference. Does this make sense at all? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Here are the two problems: 29. /5a + 1/ < or = 0 46. /r + 2/ < -3 Thank you Everyone!! Tani
  6. We loved it. We started out with Apologia but quickly switched to SS. It is tougher than Apologia but much more logically laid out, IMHO. I used all the helps and our year went great. The way this author writes and explains was much more clear to dd and myself. HTH Tani I am going to use it next year with ds.

  8. I tried the oatmeal ones and they were fantastic! I did have to replace the flour with Pamelas baking mix and gluten free oatmeal. It worked perfect!! Thanks so much. I am going to try the others with my GF substitutions. How fun :001_smile:
  9. I have extreme mold allergies! It took years to realize that it was mold that was causing my dizziness, allergies, anxiety and more. When we built our house we were careful to take a lot of precautions to prevent mold. And yes, there are different types of mold. I do not have any real issues with leaf mold, grass smut, types. House molds are a different beast. When I am exposed for an hour it will take 3 days to get over the reaction. Mold can be nasty stuff for some of us. Blah, can you tell I don't like mold! :tongue_smilie:
  10. with Mapping the World With Art. Also using the DK History Encyclopedia and SOTW 1 DVD's. This is a perfect fit for us and we are covering history and geography. It all ties in really well.
  11. out of Cleveland near the Ocoee River/Cherokee National Forest. Tani
  12. my 10 yr ds and 13 dd and so far, no problems here. Just asked my dd if she thought anything was inappropriate from when she read it through and she cannot think of anything. She says she really enjoyed the book. She read it herself about a year ago and is listening in as I read it to her brother. HTH, Tani
