Murphy101
can you tell me what you liked and disliked about this and whether you think it worth the big bucks? I'm thinking it might be good for my 14 yr old entering 9th grade...

Rhondabee
My 14yo ds really likes it! He told me after watching the 2nd Lesson that he was no longer "afraid" to go back to public school if that were ever necessary, because the teacher laid out a logical study plan. (That meant a lot to me!) My son has been taking notes on his science reading. (Mom is shocked and awed!) He is studying his text books more independently now. And, he finally understands what "free writing" is, and why to do it. Next week we will be watching the lessons on how to write a essay. So, I can't speak to that yet. But, I think the thing that was most helpful is that the teacher is a man. (And, he's not a stodgy, old, "nerdy" man - he's one my ds could relate to as a role model.) To have a man speak to my son about *why* to study, and to challenge him to work hard at studying, has been more than worth the $60 or $70 I spend on the DVD's. Kathy in MD
can you tell me what you liked and disliked about this and whether you think it worth the big bucks? I'm thinking it might be good for my 14 yr old entering 9th grade... The only thing I did't like was the notetaking style it taught, which as I recall was the Cornell system. I can see some good advantages to it, but it seemed to jammed with writing for me. I like lots of white space on my notes.
Caroline
This is on sale now for $49.95.
Brindee
I got this a long time ago for my boys, but we only watched one or two lessons before it got shuffled away. I was thinking about this recently and thought I should bring it back out again.
ClassicMom
If it's on sale for $49.95, that's a really good price. Watch the used boards too. I got the VCR version for a really good deal. ;)

mitraces
Loved it a few years back. And as a Cornell grad, I like the Cornell system of notetaking but can't get my kids to think the same.
Caroline
Mine arrived the day after I ordered it. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. The sale price was great.
Cornflower
This is very interesting to me. I have never heard of this. Thanks for educating me. I just placed this on hold at my library so I could see what it's like. Thanks again! Cornflower
Murphy101
at a local bookstore! yippee! now I'm concerned though it says "Worland High School Part 1" on the cover and "part 1 of 1" on the back... There's 2 discs with a total of 12 30 minute lessons. do I have the complete program or no? the site TTC site is down for some unknown reason or I'd just check. Kendra
We love it. Our second born is not an academic and he has been very thankful to learn some study skills. He told us after viewing the series that he has always felt as if he doesn't know what he's doing, but now he feels equipped.
