cherryblossom
I'm looking for something that I can use for my 13yo in which someone other than myself will give writing assignments as well as evaluate them. We have used Writing Strands as well as other writing programs but I struggle with grading each and every assignment. Can anyone offer suggestions or advice for us? Thank you for your help! Nissi
Here are some online programs that you could look at: Home2teach.com - We are going to try this in the summer. Potters School Scholars Online Writing programs Bravewriter.com - We have tried the Kids Write Intermediate program. It was alright. Regina Coeli Academy I hope something is helpful
Heather in AL
We are just completing the first class with them, and I have already registered my dc for a summer class. I'm also looking at another one for the fall. We are VERY happy with the class and instructor. Both my dc enjoy the class and the workload is very manageable. HTH! Shelly in VA
Same experience here; dd14 and ds12 are completing their first class with Home2Teach and I have been very pleased. They are both signed up for both a summer and a fall course with Home2Teach. There is a pretty good range of courses available, the teachers have been very positive and responsive to the students, and the kids have received a LOT of feedback on their writing. I have appreciated that the teachers are really willing to work with the students as much as the students are willing to make an effort; it isn't just a cut and dried assignment list where the teacher checks 'done' and the student moves on. Kendall
I outsourced writing this year for my 11th grader for the reasons you mentioned. I posted our experience this year at this link. http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98273 Here is the website. http://lt-tutorials.schools.officelive.com/default.aspx
Michelle in MO
We outsourced writing last year with Cindy Marsch of Writing Assessment Services. We did three sessions of her Progymnasmata Tutorials (one session of the Beginning Progym. and two sessions of the Intermediate Progym.), plus I also had Cindy grade and evaluate my girls' papers for Omnibus II. All three tutorials went very well, and Cindy did an expert job with the essay papers my girls wrote for Omnibus.
mcconnellboys
I'm probably going to use Write at Home next year. I know some folks here who used it last year and have been pleased with it. http://www.writeathome.com/Display.aspx?tabid=

We have used Writing Strands as well as other writing programs but I struggle with grading each and every assignment. Can anyone offer suggestions or advice for us? Thank you for your help! We are going to use writeguide.com for our writing. Mainly we are using them for grading and feedback and to help strengthen weak areas of the kids' writing. Maverick
Yes! Writing is my worst subject and my #1 choice to outsource. We have used local classes, and our tutor also teaches online classes. http://alexandriatutorials.com/ Check out the "Writing the Essay" class. He incorporates some IEW methods.
